  1. Go to page 0 and find the macro that has been pasted into that layout template. Or it's on the page you are viewing. If on page 0 you won't see it, just click and drag in the that area and it will get selected. Delete it and you are all good.
  2. Just click on the outside of the building and select the tool for ROOM MOLDING POLYLINE. Add the molding you want and set the height. Done. Takes about 5 seconds.
  3. I believe the only option that will work and maintain the materials is to export a 3DS file.
  4. Boom! Glad I can help....and calm
  5. 2 more days to RSVP. I have 4 right now. I will end this signup on Saturday so that I can make the needed arrangements and reservations.
  6. If I advised against this method any more strenuously I would pull something. Gather yourself. Go to defaults and open the foundation default. Make sure all the defaults are correct, and turn AUTO FOUNDATIONS back on. If you have a lot of notes and things on the foundation plan, simply hold SHIFT and select everything (do this first)....now block it and CUT (cntl x). Once the foundation auto rebuilds, hit CNTL V and all your notes and things will be right back where you had them.
  7. When in an elevation view, select the pony wall, when the temp dimensions pop up, set the depth to what is needed.
  8. You have some invisible walls below the observation room that can be removed. As for the walkout. Those walls should really be pony walls so that the footings can be set below the frost line...if you have one.
  9. It all looks OK to me. You have 9' basement walls (108") minus the 4" slab, and minus the flooring thickness.
  10. If there is interest in that area, and enough to keep costs down, I am willing to travel to sites and offer training. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/9596-intermediate-training-construction-documents/ I have multiple weekends open in June and July, and can do during the week as well during those months.
  11. You need to make the shower a "room" so that you can lower the floor and have the framing somewhat correct. Use a sloped polysoild for floor. It takes 4 of them to create the slope from the corners to the center.
  12. Once again this summer, I will be offering a 2 day training session here in Indianapolis. Right now I am looking mid July, but need to secure some RSVP to know the size of space I will need, and to set the cost. I try to keep costs as low as possible, but I need to know how many. This session will be for those that consider themselves intermediate users, and that want to take their construction documents to the next level. I will have a basic ranch on basement home plan laid out and ready to send to those that will be here. This will be geared towards those of us here in the Midwest that build on basements and crawl spaces...not much on slabs. This link is to a set of plans that I consider to be a nice set for what is required of us here in corn and bean country... https://www.dropbox.com/s/nachngl5rn750gf/New%20Colonial%20Plan%20Set%203_13_16.pdf?dl=0 Please send RSVP to joeymdp@gmail.com with JULY_INDY as the subject and I will get moving on this. I will have this post open for 10 days, so that we can get numbers together for everyone. This year I will add an emphasis on Anno/Layer sets to help increase your productivity.
  13. Not to sound flippant....but isn't exporting a 3D model to 2D Autowhatever the ultimate workaround?
  14. I carried the same template from X1 to X7. Finally made a new one for X8.
  15. That is a good question, and one in which I would create a reference set so that the 4.5' level has it's own page...but I think we are comparing apples to oranges a little. Around here, and up North a couple hours in Michigan, we don't do single pour stuff. It's Footing one day, forms in a couple days, foundation pour in a couple more days.....
  16. I need to show those cantilever areas as well, there is even a line item in my plan check QC that reminds me to make sure I have those areas noted and dimensioned. I just prefer to click on the reference button and snap a quick CAD line to the area and turn the reference off. My plans are pretty detailed compared to many doing things around here, we just go about it in a different way.
  17. Then during contractor selection we would weed those guys out.
  18. I handle those situations with CAD boxes...to each his own.
  19. In that case Michael, I wouldn't want my "foundation plan" to be all on one page. In my opinion, thats not correct construction document management. I want all the walls on each level shown on that level. I want the builder/framer to know that there are differing wall type on each level, and how the connect/interact with each other. If that means there are a few more pages in the plan set, so be it....but for me, a building level is a building level, and should be drafting accordingly. I think at times we look for too many tricks, when all along drafting and planning standards established long before us still work.
  20. This Todd? Pic 1= Main Level (W/ Garage) Pic 2 = Basement Level (W/ Walkout) Pic 3 = Foundation Plan All the same file, all completed with Anno/Layer sets.
  21. I don't understand that question. If something is on the second floor, why would I want to see it on the first floor?
  22. I use Anno/Layer Sets. I never use reference sets for anything other than finding point loads from one floor to the other. I'm sure we use the method that works best in our situations, and in the way we we work. I simply don't use reference sets for anything. I prefer Anno/Layers. In Todds situation, I would use Anno/Layer to keep everything where I want it, rather than referencing it from another floor. I would NOT recommend 2D though Todd. It can be done in 3D.
