  1. I have worked similarly a couple times before. The builders was using a few guys, and we each had our area to work on (Foundation Plan, Framing Plans, etc...). Rather than make multiple copies of the same model, we had a set number of days on a schedule to get our portion completed so that the other guy could take over the file and do his portion. We worked from Dropbox so that the file was easily accessible to everyone when their time in the schedule came up. Worked great. As long as everyone stays on schedule that is. If you have multiple homes, you could do the same type thing. Designer A has access to plan A for a set number days/hours, while designer B is working plan B and so on. That way everything stays in the same plan file.
  2. I have one jurisdiction with a lot of small narrow lots. I have to show the overhangs on the plan view, as the setback for the sides include the overhang. Only time I use them.
  3. If someone wants a "copy" of a plan they bring to me, I go to the site they were going to steal it from, and ask for 25% more than they could buy it from the site....they go back to original designer.
  4. I'm sure he/she can scale them back to 1:1, but as a rule, exporting the layout pages is not what subs want. Export from plan/elevation view and everything should go much smoother.
  5. If you SELECT ALL and block it you can resize it to fit. The TRANSFORM>REPLICATE tool should work as well.
  6. Is that plan brought forward? I worked on some X6 plans over the weekend that did that, nothing like that in a plan started in X8.
  7. There is no conversion. While using Chief Architect we work in 3D...Nothing to convert.
  8. I have been engaged with this forum for around a decade and have probably answered hundreds of questions over those years. I can count on one hand how many times I have downloaded a plan. I simply move on...you should try it.
  9. Then perhaps that should have been the response rather than the a$& chewing her gave the poster.
  10. I am over in north central Indiana...shoot me an email I'll have a look and get back to you with a proposal to complete the design and construction documents. joeymdp@gmail.com
  11. Alright..ENOUGH! Stop being an A-Hole. If you come across a post with no plan attached MOVE ON! Stop berating people for your lack of knowledge in being able to figure out a problem without seeing the plan!@!!@!@@#!@@#$%!%^#%^$ Now...@Aunttieem...While the room you are working in may have the correct ceiling height, remember that Chief is build around all the rooms. First, check the ceiling heights of the adjacent rooms to ensure that the ceiling heights are all consistent, if they are not, then that is where you start with fixing the issue. If the intent of your design is to have different ceiling heights through-out the plan, then you need to work from the ceiling height of the room you are in, and use that as the number you are going to work from. On the walls that are taller, you will need to detail how the ledger connects the sloped ceiling plane, as it may or may not model correctly. Creating a detail of that connection is a painless process. I hope that helps more than having your a&$ chewed for not posting that plan.
  12. Yes it does. Every now and then I will need to change one, but not very often at all.
  13. My walls contain a grey fill so that when I send them layout, they are already to go.
  14. Same here... I work in color, but use anno/layer sets to send everything to layout in b/w or gray scale.
  15. Leave it as 1 room and use the MATERIAL REGION TOOL to place the different flooring areas.
  16. I don't know about that. This is a concept for a 5 storey building done with wood and steel..... https://tallwoodbuildingcompetition.org/ I could easily work through this plan set with my engineer using Chief only...no doubt..
  17. In the plan you provided, the geometry is wrong. Chief will not create the correct geometry to complete the boxed eave under that condition. As a builder, ask yourself how you provide for a boxed eave in a perfect corner where the valleys meet.(?) You need to re-design the roof to provide for the proper roof returns, otherwise you need to add them manually.
  18. I have noticed that X seems to be more receptive to the info I feed in.
  19. Honestly....a little to advanced for a first project. You need a solid understanding of manual roof creation, as well as the use of molding poly-lines, poly-solids, and items from various sources for the corbels.
  20. Unless you are a manufacturer of SIP panels, you are not going to find one. Most, if not all, of those types of software are propitiatory to the manufacturers and their engineers. As a designer, a pencil and paper will work on our end. The panels are 48"-60"...design accordingly.
  21. Looks like Alan has it handled....but as an aside, this reminds me of the center field concession areas at Victory Field here in Indianapolis. Great ballpark.
  22. Stop assuming anything. If you are going to choose the window manufactures for the given project, then you are going to have to put in some time learning how that particular manufacture put the units together. Most, if not all door and window manufactures will have details on their website covering the various situations, and will have literature readily available to describe the process, and give their suggested rough opening. I think, and I don't mean to offend, that you are also assuming Chief Architect is going to replace you a designer and make multiple decisions and standards for you....it won't.
  23. Yes it does. But you can either spend the time to get it right the first time, or do it 2 or 3 times trying various workarounds and spend even more time.
  24. Simply change the label from automatic to what ever you need for it to say. Rather than a 60"x60" mulled unit. Just type in the label box 2-30"x60" or something like that.
