  1. I'll check in a little while to see if I kept the plan. Probably deleted it.
  2. Just so you know, I didn't use a deck tool. Look at my post again. Using the deck tool will give you a different outcome.
  3. I simply put a 24" floor system for the 2nd floor. Added a 3rd. floor with a ceiling height of 3' or so. A roof could be put on top of that. Just trying to duplicate the look. No specifics given.
  4. This problem has been around for many versions.
  5. Here's something quick to make that look. Probably a different method from Eric. Made 3 floors. 2nd. floor balcony was defined as family to have same siding and made it a railing wall with railing removed. Glass railing is a railing wall with no room definition.
  6. It sounds like she wants it to show in elevations too which means an image file won't really help.
  7. for the raised threshold at the shower entrance, I generally just use a slab and assign tile to it. Like to keep it simple.
  8. Can you give us the names of the catalogs you downloaded?
  9. Maureen, I don't do basements here in Houston, but I've heard that your approach is a much easier way to work with this. I also assume you put your terrain on the 2nd level. That would sound logical to me.
  10. I would be happy to do a Team Viewer online meeting and look at it if you like.
  11. I also meant to tell you to open a new layout, do a fill screen and see if everything is fine. If okay, resend a plan view to the layout. Now select the view in the layout and see how the layout box (viewport) looks. If it's way out of the layout view then generally there's something in the plan that's away from your structure or your sending it at too large a scale which you should also get a message box from Chief. Do a fill screen and see if the fill screen does okay. If not, then there is probably something going on with your plan view.
  12. Actually, there is a possible way of doing it but very time consuming by using the delete surface tool and creating separate symbols.
  13. Not that I'm aware of. You'll probably have to edit it in SU.
  14. The only other thing I could suggest would be to make a folder and put all associated plan files, layout files and associated images that are in the layout in that folder. Zip the folder and post it here or you can email it to me and I'll look at it.
  15. You may have a view that was sent to layout where the viewport (layout box) is larger than your layout. Be sure it fits with in the layout. You may also have something on page 0 that was sent outside the layout box. To check, go to a few pages including page 0 and click outside the layout box and see if you have an empty layout box. If so, delete it.
  16. You might have something small on page 0 that's off the page. You really don't say if it's a problem with one page or all pages.
  17. Steve, I don't ever use pdfs in my plan, if I do it's for tracing only and once done I delete the pdf. I especially don't use pdfs in my layout. If I have a pdf of a structural detail that I know I will probably be using in the future (or some version of it), I duplicate the detail in Chief using cad and save it to my library. This way I can edit it in the future when needed. Yes, it takes some initial time to do it, but is most helpful in the future and won't slow anything down. Just my two cents. If I need a specific detail from the engineer, my engineer will generally be happy to send me a .dwg. This makes life a lot easier for me. I do however will open a pdf of a survey in Acrobat Reader and take a "snapshot" of what I want. Open a photo editor (i use Paint Shop Pro) and save it as a .tiff file and import that into Chief. for tracing driveways, sidewalks, etc.. Never have a problem with the program slowing down.
  18. What if you delete the .png file?
  19. For the site plan, are you talking about impervious ground coverage?
  20. I would look for something that's in this plan that you normally wouldn't have. You might be using something with a high face count that's slowing you down.
  21. Open your attic walls. They probably aren't set to be attic walls. Change them and it will probably fix it.
  22. Good to know. Thank you.
