I think you're going to have to do what you don't want to do. It's not too bad once you get used to doing it and use the trim tools. I would send the elevation view to a cad detail and edit it from there.
-
An option if you want that specific image would be to do a "print screen" from your keyboard. Open a photo editing program and paste it as a new image. Crop as needed. Might help.

Rob, I'm in Houston, TX and don't know if our details match what you all do there. I have to show a typical exterior wall section (edited for specific situation) along with the foundation detail that specifies steel (rebar) and everything. I also have another detail I use for rebar at corner connections. I can send you a library of these 3 details (cad items) in a Chief library if you like. You could edit them as needed. Email me if interested or call me at 832-754-6160.

Good morning. I'm in the Spring Branch/Memorial area. If you like, you can contact me and I may be able to find someone to help you. My engineer is leaving town for 10 days starting July 13th and I have two more projects I need to get to him for engineering before he leaves. I would not be able to get your plan ready by your timeline. If I could help in any way, let me know. Cell: 832-754-6160

My way is similar to Scott's.

I don't really ever have this problem. I guess it's the way I do it. When selecting the library from Chief's library content, I never do "open". I always do download and save it to my PC. then I open Chief >Library> import library and select the one I downloaded. Works just fine every time.

Graham is correct, but also keep in mind that if you have plants such as trees, flowers, etc., that could slow you down as well. If you are heavily detailing the views with other interior fixtures, then that could slow things as well. Don't use high face count symbols.

Looks like you have 3 different plate heights. Three roof planes.
-
Didn't save it. Maybe I'll do another one later.
-
I'll check in a little while to see if I kept the plan. Probably deleted it.

Just so you know, I didn't use a deck tool. Look at my post again. Using the deck tool will give you a different outcome.

I simply put a 24" floor system for the 2nd floor. Added a 3rd. floor with a ceiling height of 3' or so. A roof could be put on top of that. Just trying to duplicate the look. No specifics given.

This problem has been around for many versions.

Here's something quick to make that look. Probably a different method from Eric. Made 3 floors. 2nd. floor balcony was defined as family to have same siding and made it a railing wall with railing removed. Glass railing is a railing wall with no room definition.

Custom dishwasher symbols not inserting into cabinets
tommy1 replied to YoderW's topic in General Q & A
Looks like you need yo change the symbol origins. -
It sounds like she wants it to show in elevations too which means an image file won't really help.

for the raised threshold at the shower entrance, I generally just use a slab and assign tile to it. Like to keep it simple.

Can you give us the names of the catalogs you downloaded?
-
Look in manufacturer libraries.

Maureen, I don't do basements here in Houston, but I've heard that your approach is a much easier way to work with this. I also assume you put your terrain on the 2nd level. That would sound logical to me.

I would be happy to do a Team Viewer online meeting and look at it if you like.

I also meant to tell you to open a new layout, do a fill screen and see if everything is fine. If okay, resend a plan view to the layout. Now select the view in the layout and see how the layout box (viewport) looks. If it's way out of the layout view then generally there's something in the plan that's away from your structure or your sending it at too large a scale which you should also get a message box from Chief. Do a fill screen and see if the fill screen does okay. If not, then there is probably something going on with your plan view.
-
Actually, there is a possible way of doing it but very time consuming by using the delete surface tool and creating separate symbols.
-
Not that I'm aware of. You'll probably have to edit it in SU.
