Looks like a good option for your situation but not sure the 1080 is worth the extra money. Larry bought one recently and did not really notice much performance increase. The 1070 seems to be the best value right now for Chief.

3D Viewer in HD has red question marks where my masonry should be
Chopsaw replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
Thanks, Chris and Welcome. I think you deserve a point or two for that. -
Kyle, I finally have some leader lines detaching exactly like you first posted at the top of this thread. Looks like there is a new issue or I will also have to make the transition to notes in plan as has been advised. Any updates on your end?

3D Viewer in HD has red question marks where my masonry should be
Chopsaw replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
Yup there seems to be and issue. Not quite sure what it is though. That would have been a great material for my outhouse. -
3D Viewer in HD has red question marks where my masonry should be
Chopsaw replied to Michael_Gia's topic in General Q & A
I bet if this was Tuesday that would not happen. Is that a custom material of chief default? Maybe post the material and see if it is reproducible. -
Are they both drawn in the same view? Maybe try drawing item 2 as a poly line and converting to p-solid. Or convert both items to solids and subtract.

I think you will be fine to just leave them there and for your next plan they should not be in your template file. Just remember not to create them unless it is necessary, and do not save all the extras as a template plan.

How do I Delete wall on layer but not on the layout plan
Chopsaw replied to unimog's topic in General Q & A
You are not actually going to delete the wall but put it on a unique layer in the plan and turn that layer off and then make a copy of the layerset and turn it back on and send to layout. -
You may want to wear your safety glasses just in case your monitor is about to blow Scott.

I am not so sure you are alone in this one Alan. Sometimes I get so disoriented that I wish I could just turn off all the automatic adjustments so that it would be the same as zooming in and out on a PDF. I am not sure anyone really wants to zoom in to check a detail only to have the dimension to cover it up as you get close enough to see it. And yes dimensions can be turned off but sometimes you actually need them. I am sure there are many who don't even understand what is going on.

There is one in the Bonus Library of Wine Cellar Items>Accessories.
-
Yes that is what I have as well and wish there was even more control but 0 seems to be the limit.

Perry, I just tested to CLOUD using Chrome and everything seems ok. I hate Edge but it should work.
-
Seems to be working for me Perry. Are you sending to Cloud or Disk?
-
Alan, I believe it is in Preferences>Appearance and I have all three settings at 0 pixels but I wish they would go to something "-" to give more control.

Yes CA runs best on a high performance gaming system and if you want to use a laptop for production drawing and 3D client presentations you will be spending a lot of money. However if you just want to run the software and don't get impatient with that annoying little blue circle all the time I have X8 on an old 4GB laptop with an integrated video card and it runs and I occasionally use it to start a cad file on site but you can pretty much forget about the 3D rendering. There are lots of threads on this subject that you can search for but DRAWZILLA updated his system not long ago and seems to be quite happy with it still and ComputerMaster86 is in process of building a new rig. I just replaced a 2GB video card that blew up with a 1070 and it seems to make everything just a little snappier but I would have been happy with the other card for a few more years if it had not blown up.

Windows showing up in schedule that are not on plans
Chopsaw replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
So then they are not duplicates, they are components and need to have "Include in schedule" deselected. Two in front of Living Room and two in back. Thanks Michael. -
Windows showing up in schedule that are not on plans
Chopsaw replied to capitaldesigns's topic in General Q & A
Mike, They are duplicates of the Double Arch tops in the back side of the "Existing Living Room" that you mulled. Interesting that the callout does not show up until you tab to select the window though, that does seem a little strange. Have a great weekend -
I am not suggesting that this is the same style but you could try this one in Sketchup's 3D Warehouse or search a little more but there are some repetitive features that I see and theoretically you could build one in Chief but it would take some time. The benefit would be you get exactly what you want. Any way to install such a feature I think a symbol would be best. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/7f4e7a8cc39921ee35b3d63776480dcf/European-Faux-Balcony-8-offset https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=balcony rail&backendClass=both Maybe someone has one they would share ?

Help - Is Intel HD Graphics 620 enough for X9?
Chopsaw replied to Tristan89's topic in General Q & A
Thank you Taylor for setting us all straight, but since we are on the subject there is a Titan Xp model by NVidia that is 12 GB GDDRX5 and not that I am recommending it because my 1070 seems to be more than adequate but if you have $2400.00 you can order a limit of two of these: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/titan-xp/ -
Processor clock speed seems to be more important than the number of cores with Chief until it comes to Ray tracing an then you can't have enough cores. You have to have a high budget or lots of patience when it comes to Ray tracing in Chief.

Lew, What are you running for video card (s) ??? -
Yup you are correct, I don't always do them all but the non typicals are sure nice.

Nice to see someone that does header labels on wall details like I do, Not much chance of error that way.
