Not a floor truss expert but you may be able to achieve this by editing after your copy and paste by keeping the Envelope locked and just open and close the DBX to get the truss to take on your modifications. Post your plan and I will see if it works for your situation.

Suggestions on easiest way to create brick arch on porch.
Chopsaw replied to Aunttieem's topic in General Q & A
Here is the CA way : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00797/creating-a-soldier-course.html And my simplified procedure that I came up with before seeing the support article that essentially producs the same result : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/9302-historic-brick-firehouse-rhode-island/?do=findComment&comment=81616 -
I am about to run a full blown scientific investigation into the discrepancies between Chief and MiTek truss dimensions and I have a hypothesis but if someone already has this all figured out and could provide the summary conclusion or would like to discuss with me it would be much appreciated. Just trying to finalize a huge truss order. Not as large as Shane's but big by my standards.

I have been having lots of undocumentable issues, so if there is something that is easily reproducible please make sure tech is aware because they are working on the issues as they are identified. I have also recently resuggested the idea of having undos documented for analysis by tech an use everyday by us as in GIMP.

I have not used it yet but there is a "Snap to Active CAD Point" option when you export. I think that is what it is for. OR Not ?

Johnny are you wanting to align things on the same page or have each page the same alignment ?

Here is a similar thread that a few of us tried to help out with. Yours is a little more complicated but might be possible.

It seems that surveyors commonly use a 100' benchmark and not necessarily sub floor level but whatever they feel is convenient. I have had plans rejected by the building department because they were not done that way but feel that the negative numbers represent a fall in elevation much better and give a much clearer presentation when we can show them in red. Just bureaucracy.

Try a "Straight Half Wall". You can set the height under the "Newels/Balusters" tab for Railiing Height: 8'. Also comes with a bonus cap.

Fortunately because I have dealt with this issue before and I am back up and running with minimal data loss, but still frustrated because I have no idea when this will strike again or how bad it will be and also believing that this had already been fixed and it has shown up again confuses me greatly. This is not a plan specific problem but I did save a copy of the plan file in the messed up state to send in to tech support and will continue to work with them in hopes of improving the software for everyone to enjoy. Thanks to all who have offered support and advice as this forum is the best source for help. I agree that outsourcing is not the solution but as the company grows maybe there is another way to provide more tech support hours for international users that could be considered. And Dermot, thank you again for your contribution of personal time.

Here is the error code that results when any attempt is made to select another layerset when this condition presents itself.

Maybe a Cupola ??

I thought everyone knew what a bird cage was after Miley got hers. I think it would have to be built with mostly solids.

Is it time to have a 24/7 Tech Support help line or is there someone who can explain this. Here is my Video rant for Dermot if you are working again this weekend, which I do appreciate very much.

I think the video you are remembering is #10 in Alan Brown's Training Video series : http://www.indyblueprints.com/videos.html

Hope there is a prize for the right answer but it sure looks interesting. Possibly a stray material was applied to the ceiling. Maybe the same marble from the fireplace?? Take the Material Eyedropper and hover over it in a 3D view and it will tell you what it is on the bottom left of the status bar.

That will happen when you loose room definition. You need to make sure you have a positive connection to the building to form the room with a forth wall shared with the house. If you are having difficulties and it is not that simple you can always post your plan file and someone will usually take a look for you.

Chief will keep track of your Recent Files in the Startup Options. Super easy to launch from there. File > Startup Options.

Larry, Thanks for the definitive testing and perfect timing as I am now forwarding this directly to tech. And yes we have the same ALDO settings. Perry, My understanding is that the "Modify All Layer Sets" is for when editing Layer Display Properties- Color,Line weight etc.... Maybe ?

Snap Grid/ Snap Units default missing from normal location
Chopsaw replied to wolftide45's topic in General Q & A
It should look like this, never seen it do anything different. Maybe something strange going on. -
Thanks for looking at this Glenn, This along with what Eric said will get me through this job. You may have a point here but based on the title of my post and what Dermot said along with it functioning perfectly fine in X8. I am hoping that you are wrong. I am assuming that ALDO is newer than Layer Display Options so possibly there is just a programming weakness in the newer ALDO if they tried to write the code more efficiently but missed something.

Thank you Eric, That may get me through as a workaround until Chief gets ALDO fixed. Much appreciated. I originally found the bug using the All off Set and then had no way of turning on what I had created anywhere else. Here is another similar issue that I just recorded if anyone has had a situation like this. Please disregard this video as Glenn has identified the problem and I have reset my default label offset so the mistake does not happen again.

Here is a quick video if you would not mind taking a few minutes to watch and test. Forgot to mention in the video that I am also having issues deleting unused (freshly created) layers. I have now watched the instructional video that David provided the link to 5 times and I am still not sure what "certain actions" the Modify All Layer Sets setting works for which is certainly not a useful in diagnosing a software problem or learning how to use it in the first place even if it is all functioning properly. So I am not sure if the layer set that eventually showed up on some other layersets with different layer display properties was corrupted or was just not created with "Modify All Layer Sets" turned on or not. Also there is no helpful information in that video in regards to creating "New" Layers or "Copy" Layers or "Delete" Layers. "And So Forth" just does not cut it for me. Now that I have just roasted a Chief Architect video please let me know if I missed anything critically important in my video. Thanks.
