  1. Default position is almost top right of your 3D view toolbar and it looks like this place your cursor on it and press F1.
  2. Alan, Do you have an illustration or rendering from another application of what you are trying to achieve or is it an original idea?
  3. Alan, Joe is correct and also not correct, it depends on the "Material" if you can come up with a wireframe material it will work. I know lattice works as a wall material so you just need a custom lattice - wireframeish material.
  4. If you are using Barn doors from the CA library the "Reverse Symbol" option works nicely for open and close.
  5. Not so sure messing with the schedule will help any. You just need to select the door or window and go to the Label tab and adjust the offsets or group select as Dermot suggested. Once you are happy with the position set it in defaults so it will work automatically next time. Pictured is Y -12" , X 8"
  6. I did not have time for a video today but here are some X8 files that might be helpful. You can copy and paste from my test plan or use the library files to create your own doors in your plan. These are individual doors as I originally suggested that can be mulled together after bumping them together with the Ignore Casing setting selected as pictured. Hope this helps. If it does send me a PM next week and I will give you a private demo so you will know how to do it yourself next time. Edit: It is actually not necessary to have individual doors as this works fine with a normal double door, but now I have to figure out how you did your illustration. 7. Not familiar with all the HP spectra specifications but it is unlikely that the Render settings are the same as you are running with your Alienware System. Worth investigating.. It seems this is an issue for me as well and likely why users are constantly upgrading trying to find a solution to the slowness. Raytracing is the only function within Chief that pushes my CPU and I really wish all the other times that I wait for the little blue circle the CPU could be allowed to work and find a solution.
  8. Thanks Larry, That seems like as good a recommendation as any, since you are a returning customer and possibly have no experience with Warranty or Tech Support is good. I went for the 1070 based on your experience and my limited budget opting for as much memory as possible and not the all the extra expensive clock speed. I will let you all know how it is when installed.
  9. If plan speed is not an issue for you and you need to be able to clearly see your illustration in a live view of layout, zoom way way in and hit refresh as the quality seems to be based on screen resolution. Hope that is the situation you are dealing with and is helpful.
  10. Yup that could work but now that I have fooled with it a bit I think I personally would use the pitch following features of a modified lookout. The drawback being that it will not show in your wall detail and would have to be filled in with cad.
  11. Michael, What is the trick to the second rotation? I loose that ability in elevation view after rotating in plan view with a wall stud. Can't wait to see the video....
  12. That is strange Curt, I only get that when I am purposely offline but I am hard wired like Perry. If you cant sort it out it might be a question for tech.
  13. I think I understand your question but am confused by the illustration as they are not matching for me but I think this could only be achieved with manual framing with polyline solids, and would be a lot of work to make it display properly in all views. Hoping that someone might have a better answer for you.
  14. Graham, Thank you so much for the time you have put into this project and I am hoping Chief Architect will take a serious look at this so we can all continue to build larger more detailed plans without crashing our systems or having plan files that are totally unmanageable. Still cant imagine what kind of a computer you would require to build a fully detailed 30 floor building when you can choke a entry level gaming system with a 20,000 sq ft ranch.
  15. Larry, Did you purchase EVGA again ? They seem to have a good reputation for Warranty and Tech Support. Can you confirm that? Don't forget to update your Signature. Good to know. I ordered mine today.
  16. Scott, That is a pretty crazy trip hazard on the stairs in the first example. Check your flatten pad setting and see if that is not saving consistently or maybe you could pay Lew's friend.
  17. Johnny, Not so sure Mark makes videos but maybe he would post a test plan for you or comment on this video that Michael did if there are differences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7XOtk9-mwA
  18. Yes there are definitely situations where it is user error but if it happens to Michael and needs a workaround to fix it then it is obviously an issue for other users as well. I worked on a relatively simple plan file all day to correct a attic wall issue and when I was done I sent the plan file in to tech support asking why it was so much work to fix an automatically generated wall and explained the whole situation to them. That was 9 weeks ago and obviously there are issues within the software because I am still waiting to hear back from them. Not so sure that is what Johnny is talking about but I have never done an electrical plan without connection issues so I am voting for CA.
  19. Not quite sure what you are saying Yusuf. Is that in reference to what David called the "water mark" ? The left door has the manufactures website overlaid onto it for advertising and maybe copyright purposes. http://www.iwantthatdoor.com/product-category/iron-doors/page/6/ Any way as David identified that as an issue that is why I said to just use the Right door.
  20. Very nice Yusuf, Thank you for taking the time to test that when I could not. Happy 40 th.
  21. Also crop in Paint or Photoshop to have only the right door without the frame then maybe you could make a symbol and flip the symbol for the left side. Not sure if that will all work or not but that is how I would try it. Not that "Cheesy" if it works. Keep us posted.
  22. You can set that in your window and door defaults under the Label tab.
  23. Thanks Graham, That all seems to support the data that I have. I might just be dreaming but wouldn't it be great if CA provided some testing data like that for users so they could make a good decision about the expected performance of the software based on their budget. Even if they were to sub out the task I think it would be worthwhile but it could also be done in house as I am sure they have over a hundred company computers that would all make excellent test platforms since they likely all were purchased at different times for the purpose of running the software at all different levels. If they were to provide a standardized test procedure I am sure that there would be many forum users that would participate and provide test data also.
  24. Very nice demo pictorial Yusuf. I will give this another try on my next job. I like how you intersected the terrain breaks. Last time I found the break to be too abrupt but you did a good job.
  25. Graham, You seem to have a good understanding of this topic, hoping that you have shared this knowledge with CA or will find a way to do so, because there seems to be no acknowledgment of this issue from their end. Not may users have the means to maintain two separate systems which it seems is the only solution currently for maximum performance. I think you finally answered my question from our last discussion back in January : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/12619-questions-on-pc-cpusgpus-for-number-crunching-i-series-xeon-amd/?do=findComment&comment=108629 Hoping CA will invest some more time into this issue for the development of X10.
