  1. There is a Frieze Molding controlled by the roof plane DBX that usually goes at the top of the wall but can be offset. Will this work or are you after something different ?
  2. Not sure I fully understand it but here is what Chief says : Default Label Formatting Custom labels can include a variety of macros that report size information about the object. This information can be reported in either of two ways: • Default Formatting includes the unit of measurement after each macro reporting size information. In files using US Units, sizes are described using fractional inches with up to 1/16” accuracy. • When Default Formatting is not used, units of measurement are not shown and decimal inches are used. You can specify whether to Use Default Formatting in the object’s specification dialog. See Label Panel. You can also put that macro setup into Window Defaults for plan wide use.
  3. I am not a macro writer by any means but (width*25.4).round should be very close to what you need. Sorry that tech was no help.
  4. Are you using a metric plan file ? It seems to be default that way. Maybe a macro otherwise.
  5. Hover over the tool you have questions about and press F1 which will take you directly to the help file. Revision Tables Select Tools> Layout> Layout Revision Table, then click on a layout page to place a Layout Revision Table that that location. Layout Revision Tables list all revisions associated with the current page. Unlike Layout Page Tables, Layout Revision Tables are page-specific. If you place a Layout Revision Table on a Page Template, it will display on every page that uses that template, but it will only list revisions associated with the current page. See Layout Page Templates. If you have a specific question don't be afraid to ask because someone might have just the right answer for you.
  6. Marquee selection is the other option that I like.
  7. Yes it can also be done in Adobe Acrobat but the problem is that it can't be done in Chief and if it is required for Construction Documents then maybe we should be able to do it in chief so that new users can produce a set of drawings without buying a whole bunch of other software to complete the task. But since the OP was asking how it could be done maybe we missed the point of the question.
  8. There are several choices of layout template examples preloaded with Chief Architect that you can customize. File > New Layout From Template. Also plenty of sample plans you can download with example layouts: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html The true value of a personalized layout template is knowing how it was built and depending on the level of complexity required it is likely best to learn how to make your own. That being said if you have a specific request someone may be willing to work with you to help you out with fast tracking your goals.
  9. Here is your .skp file imported into X10. It comes in as a symbol with two materials one of which there is some sort of an issue and chief then replaces it with a default material. Similar to but totally unrelated to the discussion in the thread above Sketchup also has versions for it's exported .skp files and to import into X9 I believe you will need a 2017 .skp file. Plan view is just a cad outline.
  10. Are you wanting to reproduce a 3D detail sheet with dimensions or build a custom bracket to use in your 3D drawings ?
  11. The one positive thing that I have noticed while working with my PDF's recently in Adobe Acrobat is that you can add to or edit a PDF that was created by "Chief Architect Save as PDF" and then save with Adobe and Chief's vector qualities appear to be retained in the final PDF.
  12. Sorry Perry, I was hoping for more but unfortunately this is all I got back from them. "Greetings from Adobe! Apologies for the delayed response. I checked with my level 2 team to see what they had to say about Vector Pdfs. The Pdf printer doesnt produce vector Pdfs. Also we do not have any specific settings that would allow us to generate one."
  13. Sink a few more balls and maybe when you get back to the office you will be all rested up and it will make sense.
  14. Scott, It looks to me like the French default railing wall. The interesting thing that it does do is wrap the floor finish over the underlay but unfortunately this is not the desired look this time.
  15. Scott, Here is the default wall type I think. Please clarify what it is you are disagreeing with. The edge material is the drywall that is defined by the wall type but it only seems to go up to the bottom of the floor finish layer or the top of the structure layer. Is there a better solution ?
  16. This is done with setting the railing to "Generate On Low Platform" and moving the Floor finish to the Floor Structure. Not really sure what is going on with the end wall unless that is a railing wall. Post your plan and someone will have a go and fix it.
  17. Looking Good. Keep up the great work.
  18. If the baselines are spaced the same distance from center and are at the same height it should auto join at the ridge.
  19. Hi Ed, Looks like you have filled in your company name in the signature spot. That is ok but what we are all looking for there is your real name if you are willing to share it but more importantly your Chief version and computer system specifications and operating system. Take a look at what others have posted for examples. Dan has laid out the hard and fast rules here : And then you may get a few friendly reminders from time to time about procedures that are helpful or just common courtesy. Such as this particular question belongs in the Q&A forum and a screen shot of you issue would be helpful or an example of what you need to achieve could be posted. Plan files or small example plans are usually the best way to get a precise answer. You can copy and past this to the Q&A forum and then delete this entire post. Sorry I am not really an expert with moldings yet and don't quite understand your question totally but there are lots of others that will and are here to help.
  20. Your trusses will follow your roof planes so you will need to make sure the ridge is in the center of the room.
  21. Yes I was frustrated with the same issues a while back an I am not sure there have been any new changes. You can however set your default to black rather than blue if that would help a bit.
  22. View > Toolbars Or Edit > Preferences > Reset Options > Reset Toolbars ( to factory defaults )
  23. Sounds like you are feeling better as well. Hopefully the next question will be on a new topic.
  24. Actually you don't even have to change the bounding box unless you are using the columns as Newels. Just drag the railing to the correct position.
