  1. You can change the plywood material to something else or add another layer if that is the way it will be built. Assuming all the rafters are to remain exposed.
  2. Nice work Rene, I suppose you will be eating steak for lunch.
  3. If it is just a matter of getting and Idea of the scale in your model then I would go with Joe's suggestion and clean up the image in photo shop and delete the background and apply it as a .png material to a railing panel.
  4. I was just thinking if you have a fabricator with the design skills you need and the client is fairly sure you could get the accuracy you need and not pay for a preliminary mockup from someone else. Potentially saving money in the long haul.
  5. Have you done any research into the actual manufacturing of the panel ? Unless it is all going to be done by hand you may be able to get a model from the CNC design data depending on the level of commitment from the client.
  6. Yes you can have multiples but you then need to switch between sheet sizes and only one sheet size can be printed at any one time.
  7. Sound like you are in Library Materials and not Plan Materials.
  8. Hello Whistler, I made a few improvements to your plan and I know that there are issues with terrain in chief but you have a lot of overlapping data and the software does not deal with that kindly. Stuff that you might tell your landscaper and he would just make it work out, chief does exactly what you tell it no questions asked. You need less data and more separation between features. As for the sloped sidewalks it seems you will need something other than a straight ramp for the elevation difference that exists. I would have a tendency to use more slabs and ramps for things that have fixed elevations and paths for more general terrain following walkways then work the terrain to these features. I could post the plan for you but I think we could accomplish more with a short Skype session so PM your skype name if you are interested. Sort of need to know what is just for looks and what you got from your surveyor the can't be changed.
  9. That sounds great Graham, but we have not been given the tools to record a walkthrough path using those adjustments. Such a shame really because a good PBR walkthrough in 1080p would have quite an impact on sales for Chief. Sadly even their x10 promo video was fuzzy,
  10. Yes Hidden away in the help menu under Using the Mouse. Other things are easier to find by hovering over a tool for instance and pressing F1.
  11. This might be useful for you Stephen : "Oops, Rotate/Resize About Current Point is the incorrect icon." Revised :
  12. A little confused the way you have stated things but you should be able to use the rainbow tool to edit the material but then you need to get to Plan Materials to add it to the Library and if you are editing with the intention of immediately adding to Library you can accomplish it all from the Plan Materials DBX. Hope that helps to clarify a bit...
  13. Not necessarily, try to record exactly what you were doing when it happened and give tech support a call in the morning. Check the Details and Knowledge Base for clues and record the error code number for tech. Someone here may be able to help if you post the details and what version of the software you are using as well as any applicable hardware specifications.
  14. So what was the problem and how did you fix it?
  15. Do you have both boxes checked ? For the Background. Then make sure that "Terrain Perimeter" layer is used and turned on.
  16. This is not yet possible with a walkthrough path recording although I have requested it. You can however use all the current camera settings by recording with the basic walkthrough recorder which is a little choppy without a space mouse and not really my area of expertise. It would not hurt to make an additional request to get it higher on the priority list. The Sunlight Settings and Toggle are what we are missing as well as the Ambient Light Settings. Exterior Night Time PBR Recordings do look good if you just do a slow spin with the CTRL + ALT + S spin command which is adjustable by changing the Default Incremental Rotate Angle for the Camera.
  17. I sent in a fairly comprehensive report in early 2017 on this issue and there have been some improvements but not sure I would consider it a fix. To be fair I should redraw the test plan from scratch in X10 but here is what happened when I brought the plan forward. Maybe a little feedback from others who use this all the time would encourage them to take another look at the issues.
  18. What software are you using and is the Eave Fascia also missing ? If not you may need to post the plan file so someone can take a look.
  19. I was getting my hopes up for just that reason. But it seems to be a bunch of auto generated freak attic walls that are somehow got crammed down onto level 1. The angle bracing is the top plate of the attic wall and you will notice some places there is extra framing and other places it is perfectly doubled up. Not sure if there would be any way to reproduce it even if you wanted to. This would definitely make a great feature request though. Any Ideas as to how this could have happened in your build Boxer ? Or is it just another great import from France.
  20. Don't panic yet.... This seems to be an X8 issue as all diagonal bracing seems to be in place when opened in X8. Assuming your signature is up to date and no one else looked at it and this is an X8 file you posted I will take an more in depth look into the situation.
  21. With the cabinet upgrades in X9 and X10 you may find you are able to use Chief more for your regular work.
  22. William, If you are wanting the transom windows to not display in plan view, you can move them to a custom attic wall that is all layers of "Opening (no material)" and will not display in 3D. Then just set the Absolute elevation for the windows.
  23. You would need to try to work with a pdf or dwg copy which will involve a lot of work on your part. Or it might be a good opportunity to work for a paid upgrade. Sad that something could not be worked out with the original draftsman.
