Sorry to give Chief a negative review but I was one of the people that request some additional tools within Chief for creating watermarks without needing to use an external photo editor and was highly disappointed with what they came up with. It was a start but needs a lot more work for sure. Lots of other things in X10 that are worth upgrading for however.

Yes or you can just put a solid color ( light gray ) text on the back layer on page 0. Just a little simpler than using a PDF editor unless you are doing other things with it as well. If you are on a tight budget for a photo editor Gimp is opensource software.

Chad, Did you follow the link I provided for other options in X9 ?
-
As long as you are not copying to a previous version it should work as always.
-
Sorry, that may not have come across quite right. What I meant was to create CAD Electrical,Dimensions Electrical,Text Electrical, for your Electrical Layset etc.
-
Yes it is not in X9.
-
Did you delete or move any of the files it is searching for ? Still should not hang but that might explain the conflict. Tech support should be able to give you the correct advice.

Yes if you create something on a particular layer it will show up in all layersets where that layer is turned on. To keep things organized in your construction documentation you typically need to set up additional CAD, Dimension, and Text layers for each layerset and then once you have that done you can research Annotation Sets which help you control those extra layers.

Make your railing wall type "Interior-4" and that should fill in. It needs the outer layers below the floor.
-
It would be really helpful to know what software you are using and you can include that in your signature for future reference. It sounds like you have "Modify All Layer Sets" selected when you really don't want it on.

There is a new tool in X10 that lets you edit the auto terrain hole as a polyline. Select the Terrain Perimeter and look for this tool

Yes for now and in X9, but lets keep pushing for improvement. It is long overdue in this department.

I was not going to be the one to ask that question Lew. Here is the video I was looking for. I had to go back to my notes from when they used to number the video's. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/362/showing-an-as-built-s-mask-on-a-remodel-plan.html Also some others in section 20 that might be useful. If you are new to the software watch as many as you can absorb.

Yes I just reviewed it quickly and did not see the cad detail from view method where you can change all the line work of the existing walls to typically a dashed grey line for demo walls and and just hide that under the unchanged existing walls and new walls in the same locations so it shows all of the places the real walls are removed. Last time I did it I think I did a separate plan file and cad blocked the cad detail and copied it all onto the same layer in the proposed plan and it worked quite well. Sorry to be so brief, wish I could find the video for you.
-
You will need to use some cad if there are any conflicting walls. Have you seen this video ? https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/364/coordinating-wall-types-to-show-existing-demo-and-new.html?playlist=85

It would be cool if a Polyline Distributon Path would work in elevation view but it does not seem to work for me as it seems to let you go to the trouble of setting it all up but will not display in 3D.

As Shane says it is pretty much a manual process but you could save some modeling time with the bracket symbols in the Library.

Here are two terrain video's that are hard to find : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1056/import-a-surveyor-dwg-file-for-a-site-plan-or-terrain-perimeter.html?playlist=127 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/6082/grandview-how-we-modified-the-terrain.html?playlist=127 If you can't convert the SOSI to .DWG it might be possible to get a .PDF and convert to .DWG or .DXF If you have to work from PDF you will need to manually trace over it.

Likely need a little more information to help out on an issue like this. Not exactly sure if the railing is elevated and you want it on the floor or the other way around ? Possibly default wall bottom height but could really be anything. Might have to post your plan file and let us know what version you are using or at least a screen shot of the situation. Welcome to the forum and I hope we can find a solution for you.

I think to get it to look right you will need to use a symbol or psolid with transform and replicate. Here is a detailed tutorial but be aware there are shortcuts : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00797/creating-a-soldier-course.html

Open the Image in your title block (page 0) and on the top of the General tab of the Picture File DBX select "Save in Plan"

It is controlled by the "Text Style" of the Door and Window Labels layers. Likely set by default to the "Default Label Style". Edit that or create a new Saved Text Style.

In your screen shot it shows the eyedropper icon. Does it not change to the spray can when you select a valid object ? I am still running v. 20.2.2.3. and it all seems to work fine so maybe you have found a new glitch.
-
Does it not show up when you select something with the Object Eyedropper ? Should be on the bottom left with the Object Painter Modes. Maybe try the hot key ( Shift + L )

It was new in X10. You need to make your own in X9. Not to difficult really... Just put your text on page 0 of layout on it's own layer so you can turn it on or off when needed. If you want transparent text or a logo use a photo editor and make a .png image and put that on page 0. This actually gives more flexibility than the X10 feature.
