  1. This is auto built. Are your roof planes on the back side separate ?
  2. Overlapping roof planes ? Is that how it would be built ?
  3. Place a break in the top of your wall and rip it down to the bottom to create the angle.
  4. Picture is a little fuzzy. Does it only taper on one side ?
  5. Thanks Michael, I will add that to my tech report in case it helps in the diagnosis somehow.
  6. General Plan Defaults - Snap Units. Most likely.
  7. I think @jbaehmer has a template system that uses it to populate the layout title block straight from the plan file but he could explain it better. I have often wondered why there is not an option or easier way to transfer the data from plan to layout or a default Designer Info.
  8. A manual Terrain Hole or two might serve you well in this situation.
  9. I am not sure I have tried this before but is it not possible to assign a new material to a Symbol during the Symbol creation process through the Materials tab of the Symbol DBX ? It just seems to ignore the input and sticks it into the User Library as it was. I thought maybe I pressed the wrong button but it would not put it into the library at all if I did. I usually paint things before creating the symbol so I know what it will look like but this was just one material and I did not need to see it, also would be much faster than painting.
  10. This would be something that would make a good suggestion if that Layout Box DBX had a default or would remember your previous settings. Might be able to avoid resetting every time by using a template with pre-sent elevations.
  11. Not so much for images but it is a nice feature for complicated tight layouts where you may have needed to use a mask in previous versions. However this is more the exception rather than the rule in my opinion and should be the alternate behavior.
  12. Rob, Until Chief sorts out why they did this and gets it fixed here is my 10 click workaround that Michael helped me with.

    Callouts

Thanks Michael. I did not know that was an available setting. It must be on by default. Very helpful.

    Callouts

What is sometimes confusing is when a camera view is open it will always be visible even when turned off.
  15. Holding the Alt key does Not work the way a basic left click did in X9. They forgot how the program was working when thy added the new alternate random reshaping feature in X10. This makes no sense at all when using live image views.
  16. Did you do the yacht mural the same way as the photo ? Seems like the photo was imported to plan and not layout.

If you can compress it to 25 MB with a zip file you can post it or upload to cloud service and post link. Or make a copy of the plan and strip out unnecessary high poly items.

    Lights

I could not reproduce the problem in my test plan. If you want to post the plan file I can take a quick look.
  19. It seems to be an issue with your wall definition only having a main layer which wants to stop where it would be supporting the rafters. Is this how the structure will be built as in real life you would have the same issue I think. Also causing some grief is you room needs to Roof over it in the Structure > Ceiling, settings. Temporarily swap your wall for Siding 6 and you will see the issue and turn on rafter framing.
  20. The thickness is more of an engineering thing depending on how high the walls are going to be but usually a 6" minimum for one story in my area. If the concrete is free why not pour a little extra.

I see you are not using X9. Try turning on "Update Lighting Automatically" or refresh manually.
  22. If you are after all the things you listed the only product that comes to mind is ICF ( Insulated Concrete Forms ). One of the leading manufactures is: http://www.nudura.com/ This can be drawn with Chief with only slight modification of a default wall type. If you are serious about efficiency there seems to be a little too much glass in your linked example.
  23. Select the wall below the one that is giving the trouble and under the Structure > Platform Intersections > Select "Balloon Through Ceiling Above". That should fix how it looks and will also likely be how it will be framed.

    Lights

How many lights do you have turned on ? I think the limit is 8. It may not be where you moved the light to but rather moving it resequenced it back to the top of the list from wherever it was before beyond number 8. Just a guess. Would have to look at the plan to be sure.
  25. Your Reference lines are set for "Walls, Normal" and it may be more beneficial for you to turn on the "Walls, Main Layer Only" layer to line things up better. This can be done in the "Reference Display Layerset" For 2" studs you will need to navigate to the DBX that Mick was referencing earlier, "Define Material" Open a wall and go to Wall Types > Define > Double Click "Fir Stud 24" OC" of Main Layer > then in Plan Materials > Edit or Copy > Change the Thickness on the General- Specifications tab. Ok all the way back out. I may not be necessary to start over but sometimes you get things messed up and need to auto rebuild.
