  1. Do you still have X9 installed and working fine to verify all hardware and connections are working ? If so then keep the pressure on Tech Support to find a solution.
  2. It could be a setting or a bug. No way of telling without a plan file or a small test plan that is behaving the same way. Also need to know what version of the software you are running and then someone can help. I have had some layering issues with plot lines in X10 that can sometimes be refreshed by opening and closing the view.
  3. Add a custom Pattern in the material DBX. Show a vector elevation view. Sand might be a good choice.
  4. If you have a deadline you might consider contacting the original designer and paying for the plan file or possibly even a finished set of plans depending on the status of the project before you took over. Some sort of a plan file would have to exist to produce the .dae file even if it is a little rough. If the preliminary work was paid for you might even get a surprise and be given the files for free.
  5. Take an elevation view of that and you will see that as far as that computer is concerned those roof planes are identical. The walls are just responding to the location of the roof plane.
  6. Yes it works in your plan file. Try setting the Rough Openings to more than 30mm. Did not mess with the walls although Eric is correct.
  7. Neil, Rough Openings for doors are measured from the edge of the slab. Usually the Side and Top Defaults would be larger than the thickness of the Jamb material. This should resolve your problem.
  8. Interesting observation Doug. Were you able to correct the problem in Shane's PDF with that technique ?
  9. I thought I lost you there. If you like you can check the "Follow" box at the top right of your screen and you will be sent an email notification when someone responds to your post. Here is a quickie test plan that you can check out the room and roof settings that I used. The only thing I had to cheat on was the cross box with the single line is not really an option in Chief for vertical blocking so I just used general framing and a cad Blocking Box to cover up the auto Cross Box. Let me know if you have other questions. X9 Roof Valley Test.plan
  10. It looks pretty bad Shane. I tried all the tricks I could remember and made it worse. See below for new camera sent to layout and failure in print preview.
  11. Here is a link to a thread where @yusuf-333 demonstrates a method of sending to PDF and converting to DWG that works for text and dimensions. Not all Chief but it very easily could be in the next version or two.
  12. Would this be satisfactory ?
  13. In the North East we use SPF framing material ( Spruce, Pine, Fir ) which seems to encompass what is used in most of North America. What gets stamped on your lumber ? And yes I have changed the name from Fir to SPF. Maybe chief should do that so everyone else does not have to ?
  14. Not sure about the material list but that definitely works for a Framing Schedule.
  15. i cant see a way to scale it with this method correct me if i am wrong Yes that may be difficult to do accurately. There is a "Ratio to Sheet:" setting but it is only in increments of 1%. If you don't have a photo editor you could use the Watermark feature to set the transparency and export as an image and then re-import and scale accurately.
  16. Apply the Satellite shot as your Watermark. Image transparency is unfortunately hidden away in only that part of the program.
  17. Can you have the entry as NOT a Mono Slab and put 12" of concrete into the floor structure of the room ? If not you may be ahead of me because I don't have baseboard with the mono slab. Something like this ?
  18. I think I understand the visual but a plan file would help immensely in a situation like this. How is the living room defined ?
  19. Sounds like an unscheduled adventure into Room Label defaults. But we may never know.
  20. Mike, do you keep your cad details in your template or use a warehouse plan so you don't get bogged down ?
  21. That is the one. Put a check in the box. You are very welcome.
  22. Yes you can open the layout box and under the Plan View tab you can Select a Reference Level and Layerset.
  23. Yes that is just about the way it is for now. A little clunky with lots of extra steps unfortunately. You can have details in Cad Detail Management which will index in your Project Browser. This may function a bit more like you are describing in AutoCad. These can be organized in an warehouse plan and sent to layout from there or copied into a customer plan file and edited and then sent to layout. You would need to do some searching for previous forum discussions of methods and pro's and con's of each.
