  1. Yes I was able to open the file you posted but most of the walls had no framing or fill patterns and just colors except the one on the second story with the green fill that I assumed you had edited from what it was. Or possibly you don't have the textures either since it is not your plan file and you are having the same issues I am with the plain walls. Are you getting any warnings when you open a standard render 3D view ? Maybe replace a wall with a default chief wall of the same thickness as see if the problem persists. I reversed the upstairs wall at the back of the house and replaced the siding with a stock chief siding and it appears to be working.
  2. Try the Reverse Layers tool with the wall selected. That should do the trick. You definitely have some strange wall definitions but it looks like you are working on correcting them. If you still have specific issues post a backup plan file that has the custom textures included.
  3. I have not used the system but thought that was how it was supposed to work. A 3D image generated by two slightly offset images that can be view independently by each eye and the brain puts it together as 3D. Stereoscopy is an old technology revived recently in the digital age.
  4. Yes if you are following through the training manual and something makes sense to you but does not work the way it is suggested that it should your input is just as valuable as someone who has been doing this for 10 years. Please make use of your SSA payment and let Chief know how they can improve the software and make it more user friendly.
  5. Please post questions like this in the Q&A forum in the future. The porch is defined by the railing wall. Major problems will happen when it is deleted. Best to just open the wall and make it invisible or place a doorway and it will replace a section of the railing.
  6. Sounds like you have found a bug, so try your best to document the steps proceeding the point where the software freezes and report to Tech Support. In the mean time try to find another way to access the same thing and see if the same problem occurs. Try the main menu Build> Wall > Define Wall Types, or draw a wall and open it and try the edit or new wall type. Try a few different wall types. Sorry this is happening but it could be specific to Interiors. Any other issues ? Are 3D views working ok ?
  7. Your welcome. Not everything will be apparent in checking the settings. You will need to think through it logically and get the sequencing correct as well. If you get stuck with something specific let me know. Merry Christmas.
  8. Could not find a video specific enough for your situation so I had a go at making one for you. It is a little long but I think I covered all the necessary steps. Merry Christmas.
  9. Humm... I wonder if it is all automated now or if a dedicated off duty staffer saw your post and fixed it up. Congratulations and good luck. Merry Christmas. Hope that is your favorite gift.
  10. Yes I have resorted to similar methods but then create new symbols for the edited or recreated doors and track. As a symbol you can use the "Reverse Symbol" option to open and close or just select and move independent of the track like it appears you do.
  11. Yes that may be a little easier to do in sketchup but you could delete a few surfaces form the chief symbol and solid model what you need onto it and recreate the symbol. @Alaskan_Son has some great video resources that are fairly advanced but are a great view once you have mastered what Chief has to offer in their video's. Here is one that has some great techniques for material manipulation. Subscribe for many more.....
  12. There are actually a lot of editing processes that can be done in Chief such that it may not be necessary to export and re-import. What is it you need to do ? If necessary you should be able to export as .3ds and then bring it back as .skp.
  13. Not really sure if that is all automated or if someone needs to verify the transaction. If the invoice has your new product key it might be possible to apply that to the trial version. There may be someone you could call tomorrow unless they are taking the week off.
  14. It is definitely something that is or was on the CAD, Default Layer but it seems to be not visible.
  15. Thanks Mark I did not see that there after they reformatted things. "Show Upgraded Licences"
  16. Yes if you have understood and tried everything that Tech and Mark and Mick have suggested then it might be worth a try. Do you have a record of your product key and a backup of the .msi file ? If not Tech should be willing to help with that. Or maybe when the beta version of X11 is available, that might be worth a try depending on if they have addressed any problems in X10 in respect to your issue but it seems that maybe they have not even figured out what the nature of the issue really is yet.
  17. It might prove your theory if you are able to reinstall and get it working.
  18. Do you still have X9 installed and working fine to verify all hardware and connections are working ? If so then keep the pressure on Tech Support to find a solution.
  19. It could be a setting or a bug. No way of telling without a plan file or a small test plan that is behaving the same way. Also need to know what version of the software you are running and then someone can help. I have had some layering issues with plot lines in X10 that can sometimes be refreshed by opening and closing the view.
  20. Add a custom Pattern in the material DBX. Show a vector elevation view. Sand might be a good choice.
  21. If you have a deadline you might consider contacting the original designer and paying for the plan file or possibly even a finished set of plans depending on the status of the project before you took over. Some sort of a plan file would have to exist to produce the .dae file even if it is a little rough. If the preliminary work was paid for you might even get a surprise and be given the files for free.
  22. Take an elevation view of that and you will see that as far as that computer is concerned those roof planes are identical. The walls are just responding to the location of the roof plane.
  23. Yes it works in your plan file. Try setting the Rough Openings to more than 30mm. Did not mess with the walls although Eric is correct.
  24. Neil, Rough Openings for doors are measured from the edge of the slab. Usually the Side and Top Defaults would be larger than the thickness of the Jamb material. This should resolve your problem.
