  1. Grass 7 is the one I also prefer too but usually darken it some.... I also use this one which if I remember correctly was posted here on the Forum a few years ago ( sorry forget name now) MHD_Grass - Rich Green.calibz M.
  2. Chief is single threaded so all the Cores in New Processors really don't help that much in Chief, I think Graham Korbey did some test about a year ago here on the Forum, but for multitasking they should. The New 12th gen on Z690 are much better at this which is why gamers are raving about the newer 12th gen as many games are still single threaded too. M.
  3. It's not a MOVE it does a Exact Copy (Clone) of the Drive and leaves the Original as is...... once every is up and running you can Format the Old SSD and use it for Storage either internally or placed in an External Enclosure and Run backups to it eg Images with Macrium which is what I do... M.
  4. You can have PCIe 5.0 now on Z690 Motherboards, I am not sure if there are any NVMEs out yet that support it though? , but you'd need a new CPU and possibly DDR5 Ram as well depending on the Mobo. the 980 Pro would reach full speed this way though at perhaps 15x a SSDs speed.... I can't say it will help with Chief though? https://www.pcmag.com/news/alder-lake-and-the-new-z690-chipset-is-this-intels-most-innovative-platform
  5. Yes, there is no reason not to get the Drive really, as even 2-4 yrs ( should last 10 I'd think if not longer ) from now you can just move it to a new system. Despite Larry's issue with Cloning (BAD SSD) I use and recommend Macrium Reflect , even the free version will work for Cloning and running backup Images. M.
  6. He's using the Trial Version , which can't save plans , so he can't share it.... M.
  7. Even the 12th Gen is only 16% overall better apparently, though CA is Single Core Coded and the difference there is 33%, I see some gamers raving about them, but if you have a recent computer I think most are fine.... the extra cost for i9 Chips is usually not worth it unless almost the same price which is not usually the case. https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-12700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-10700K/4119vs4070 M.
  8. It maybe a blip , but CA's Trey / Tray Tool does not work well with Invisible walls (Room Dividers) and maybe confused by them, so other methods maybe needed. Eg. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00201/creating-a-tray-ceiling.html
  9. Turns out he Was Autoframing the whole project..... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/32540-question-for-the-computer-guys/?do=findComment&comment=256840 M.
  10. I would tend to agree with this and would go Z690 and a 12th gen 12700K or higher (budget?) ( or KF) if a CPU and MoBo are in the Cards, this is likely the closest for a while to a "real change" in hardware but not one that is needed likely for another year or two. I tend to trade back and forwards with Asus and Gigabyte boards , one other feature to look for is dual Bios's in case there is an issue. As Larry also pointed out the Z400 series boards are PCIe3 only but can use a 11700k CPU , a Z590 also can do 11700 but has PCIE 4 for both Video cards ( no real benefit ) and the extra 4 PCIe lanes for the NVME and often have 2 or 3 NMVE slots. Mick.
  11. Glen is correct clicking the yellow Icon should lead to a DBX popping up with a message telling you what the issue is. M.
  12. Lots of anything with Curves eg Oval Sinks (* lots of them) PDFs saved it Plans CAD Line work from a "Trace" can all slow CA dramatically. Mick.
  13. Don't tell him.... but your son is right , you would Clone the SSD to the NVME, except he should of told you to get it quick for the Black Friday Deal..... However you won't (maybe , need MOBO info) get PCIe 4.0 speeds (7000) only PCIe 3.0 ( 3500?, still 5 x faster that a Sata SSD) as you need a 11th gen CPU to enable PCIe 4 Lanes and the 10700k we both have doesn't have them. My Motherboard (Mobo) a Z590 can with a 11th gen. but my 10th gen CPU can't. Mick.
  14. I backup to another Folder on my internal 2TB HDD AND My External 4TB HDD Data redundancy is best ie 2 places at least ( HDD's can Fail ) ... you can also create a Folder in the Cloud on G-Drive or Dropbox or even the free OneDrive that a lot of people don't seem to use for anything else.... once setup and run the 1st time it doesn't take long as only changes are backed up each day, so I start 1@ at 7pm , then 2@ 7.30 and 3@ 8pm each night. Mick
  15. Just when I was thinking Standard View in X12 looked pretty good and there was no need to spend time on PBR, they broke it with X13...most unfortunate, though I'd love to see PBR work as easily as X12's STD View, but I am thinking it's not in the cards...... I bought a $12 DX11 game for Black Friday, to see what my 3080 can do and the game's 3D is impressive, if not Photorealistic, as it doesn't have RTX tech enhancements. M.
  16. Syncback works well for backing up Folders etc , I have used the free version for 10yrs+ is my guess , never upgraded to the Pro Version as the free version has the features I need eg to back up the Data Folder and My Client Folders. M.
  17. It has had Issues since we got X13 for some reason , and so far it has not been fixed that I am aware of ? M.
  18. If you proactively backup your Chief Data Folder ( as you should ) , you should always have a backup of the Toolbars Folder from the day or week before. SyncBack Free is a great App for doing small (or large) Backups like this Daily to and another Drive Internal or external , been using it for yrs along with Macrium Reflect myself. https://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/index.html M.
  19. I hope not since there are still too many issues with X13...... including this, the 3D WebViewer Issues and all the Black Flashing in Layout etc. M.
  20. Been quite a few Library Updates over the last few weeks it appears..... M.
  21. I too prefer the look before Full Release , it almost looks "cartoonish" now over a Standard Render , which was helpful for the Cabinet Shop for example to better see the "Vision" as a White Kitchen or the opposite is Walnut or Wenge , cabinets would blend together in 3D views creating querstions. M.

  23. Windows 10 , has a Keyboard management Option in the PowerToys Microsoft has now brought back via Github it also has a Handy Color Picker with RGB/Hex number etc and a Image Resizer ( by Brice Lambert) which I have used for years but was brought back into PowerToys a year or 2 ago. New Version was released this week actually.................... https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys
  24. I currently have not allow Win11 on this system, not wanting to be a guinea-pig I have also set all Nvidia Panel 3D Management Options to Default ...and don't add Chief on the Programs tab now either. New Drivers out today if you use the GR Drivers, I have noted recently that CA now recommends the Studio Drivers though. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16205-nvidia-drivers-updated/?do=findComment&comment=256204 (see the 1st Post too for Driver Links) If you are multi-monitor and you laptop uses Nahimic Software Audio enhancements also check this post..... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/28384-multi-monitor-issue-fix-for-computers-with-nahimic-audio/?do=getNewComment I only Set the Win10>Settings> GPU Graphics GPU Scaling to On and then added Chief and set it to High Performance
  25. Also a good trick I forgot about... Glad I could help.... Mick
