  1. You haven't done your Forum signature , ( see mine for example below) so I have no idea what your computer specs are ? There is a whole new 3D Engine in Chief and HD this version around and there are quite a few who no longer meet the Specs , even though X12 and HD 2021 worked just fine. Mick.
  2. This is how I did it using a Peninsula Cabinet turned into a Drawer too....
  3. You should Call Sales and explain the Situation and see if they will let you Rent 2021 instead , as it has the Old 3D Engine and will likely work on your Older System until you can upgrade. Mick.
  4. The Home Designer Series has it own Forum over here : https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ However if you are getting an Error in X13 cos of low GPU then I'd suggest trying HD Pro 2021.... which has lower specs Even Elevation Views are technically 3D in Chief/HD , so David's advice may still not Help? You can do your Forum(s) Signature with the help of David's Video so people know what you're using both software and computer wise.... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/18908-signature-here-at-chief-talk/?tab=comments#comment-155662 Mick.
  5. Simpson Strongtie STL Files are now available and import direct into Chief.... For all items not in the Chief Library this is worth a Shot..... All Credit to Chopsaw for the link, in another Thread, I just thought I'd post this for Other Users here in the Symbols Forum too STL works quite well ...I didn't realize Simpson was supplying them now, I sorted the page on left for STL only and there are 2700+ items.... https://www.strongtie.com/search?v=%3Arelevance%3AdrawingFileType%3ASTL&tab=drawing they all come into Chief as Porcelain material ??? but not hard to change..... Mick.
  6. Yes with The Edit Area tool >(select)>Copy>Paste Walltypes can be saved to the User Library for re-use in future Plans , you can also put them in you Plan Templates for uses there. M.
  7. I have never figured out why the call the Window Reveal an Overlap , never heard that term anywhere in the industry in 30+yrs..... And to make it worse the Exterior Overlap of Windows by DEFAULT is set to Zero , again something I have never seen, not sure why it's never been fixed? it would be a tad "breezy" in those homes , personally I prefer a 1/8 - 3/16" Reveal @Dermot? ..... not enough complaints? it is a Industry Term though .....
  8. Do you have a Roof or 2nd story on the Model ? and a Foundation ( I use a 5 click auto mono slab if Project doesn't require a Full model ) , I ask because of the "Glow" ( light leak) above the Rangehood area in particular . And like you I think the X12 image is nicer , but needs more light. M.
  9. Not just a MAC issue , I also find the Standard Rendering in X12 is better than X13 and have several Clients who have stayed with X12 for this reason as PBR-RT is still too much work to make look good in a lot of cases. M.
  10. You could possibly Rotate the Whole Building 20°, with EDIT area and Transform/Reflect Tool > Rotate 20°, do the Addition work , and Rotate it back if needed. Try it in a Save as Copy of your Plan..... Mick.
  11. There is a bonus Beam Catalog with an I-Beam in it , and it not hard with Polyline Solids to make Plates ( save to your Library ) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/789 there is also some stuff I use in the Simpson StrongTie Library including bolts etc but not sure what the X9 Library has anymore..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/detail/796 M.
  12. They are supposedly more stable but in Real World Practice I have never seen any difference, at least not in Chief. M.
  13. It does not matter to chief which you use, I use both depending on whether a particular Driver is stable or not. Chief is not directly supported by Nvidia in either driver, but many Other Apps are directly supported by the Studio Drivers , so it maybe worth using them if you also run other 3D software , like Maya, Blender, Vray etc.
  14. Hahaha, just what I was thinking too...... though you are right about Surveys not always being 100% accurate which you'd think was needed since they are a Legal Document. M.
  15. You can disconnect one Segment and break the Closed Polygon , which should stop the other sides moving You can add angles to any plan under Defaults>Plan>Additional angles , so the Lines will "snap" to those angles as you rotate them. You can also try the Line Input Method if you have a survey? : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00575/creating-a-plot-plan.html Mick
  16. Sounds like they put the paper work charge up too recently ...$100 now... I double checked and the upgrade is on sale ATM for $625, No harm in asking but the policy has always been you can't buy SSA to Upgrade if the New Version has already released ( back in July?) But maybe if you are on the phone paying the transfer fee they'd go for it? SSA is also not Transferable, so there would be no point you doing that Michael. Paypal, Venmo ? Mick.
  17. I like that Idea , put it over in Suggestions , it could go under Edit > Reset to Defaults with override Dimension Text...
  18. No it looks like the age old "resolution" issue with Chief and Text ......... did you get a new monitor? or someone else plan? If you open one and close it again and it fixes itself , then you have the above issue. No other known fix except to Marquee ( Shift) Select the Text > Open the DBX > and Close it again without doing anything. Mick.
  19. Upgrade fee X12 - X13 is $695 ( not the yearly SSA Fee of $525 ) STD Transfer is $50 ( to do the paperwork) but if it is a secondary license which was not the Full X12 Cost then it is the Cost Difference from 2nd to Full. Looks like they put the price up recently $2695 > $2965 however the new Retail price is $3300. You can call Sales and ask questions.... M.
  20. It doesn't appear you have added any Lighting ? and 15 passes is not enough to finish the RT ...try 50 as a minimum. The best Help/Guidance for Users still using older Versions and the Old RT method, is in a Thread called Lets RayTrace , started by Graham Korbey started in 2017.
  21. Chief's typical Wall definition has the Foundation build to the Framing Layer , not the Sheathing , but you can change this in the Wall Type's Definition....
  22. It sounds like you haven't set the Separation to zero And only Chief knows Why but the Windows Separation also effects Doors

Looks like you are using the Intel iGPU ? it is 10th Gen. , and has a Intel® Iris® Plus, so is supposedly supported by CA X13 ( 9th Gen. and above) https://www.intel.ca/content/www/ca/en/products/sku/196592/intel-core-i51035g7-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-70-ghz/specifications.html Latest Driver is 30.0.101.1069 https://www.techpowerup.com/download/intel-integrated-graphics-drivers/ or download and install Intel's Driver and Software App , which works surprisingly well these days....at least for me.... https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html So I'd suggest you start a Tech. Support case through your Digital Locker. Dermot (CA) may know more if he comes on the Forum.... @Dermot Mick.
