  1. hi Yusef , I had a look but I guess I am missing something as I didn't figure out what you did/how you did it from the video. Your video is clearer , so I think you used a better resolution , but your microphone was either in a bad place or it is just bad? I couldn't hear you though it sounded like you were talking ? M.
  2. Thx I am still trying to wrap my head around Annotation sets and doing ConDocs , so have been looking at the Videos etc recently and went looking for examples , those two plans are complete -ish , the Dalton remodel is not unfortunately ..as far as layouts go but it has Annotation sets to look at too like all Plans. if you are really unsure about it Walleye have a look at Terry Munson's tips page for his Tutorial tips on Annotation too http://www.munsonhomedesign.com/Annotations.html
  3. Graeme , Scott (MrScott) is working on something similar , not sure if looking at his plan might help ? https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/5805-break-in-wall-between-floors/
  4. Like me, he may have been hoping to see another example of your Work , I'm still trying to figure out "best practices" in CA, esp. when it comes to Con.Docs.
  5. What may help is to download a sample plan like the Riverstone or TimberFrame House and look at the Annotation sets used , you can even export/import them if you like them, (get the layer sets too if so) . Both plans include basic layout files too so you can see how things work. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html M.
  6. Build a zero 0" high 2nd floor (so you get room definition for you Attic and a stairwell) Build roof with ignore 2nd floor box checked , do 3D view and make sure all is well then, uncheck auto build roofs in the Roof DBX ( don't EVER reset) on 2nd floor open Room DBX and reset Ceiling height to desired height (6'? in pic) and uncheck "has ceiling" for vaulted ceilings. Add interior walls designated "knee walls " as needed. Think that's the basics.... M.
  7. glad I could help , but you are right it takes a bit of "thinking" especially in this case and you are actually aligning 4 walls... I think due to the exception mentioned earlier CA ignores the main layer setting if the wall is masonry on the 1st floor and above as the masonry is considered the structural layer ( even though it isn't) but on basement walls it treats brick normally, which just confuses things even more. there is more info on Wall alignment in the Ref.manual page 289 , pg 291 mentions the exception.
  8. The one in the samples Gallery is still there Joey under AIBD 1st Place http://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/samples.html
  9. Thx Jon , it's actually a pity CA doesn't have a Tool like that , as there is no way Libraries will ever be complete compared to what is in the market place especially with mosaics and everyone using large format tile now. M.
  10. in the Q&A section , yes , password and user ID is the same over there as here...
  11. So , I was right about FB downgrading images.... , not surprised most websites / forums do it to save Bandwidth.... 72dpi is the Web / Email standard , so I am not surprised that is CA's default either, though I have not tried the new High DPI output that Chief now allows , resizing is only allowed in 3D views though. M.
  12. especially if you tried printing 5" wide lines (120mm)
  13. Nice , Thanks Glenn , seems to work well , you should put it over in the Symbols forum too so it doesn't get lost here......
  14. PDF's don't pixelate as you zoom like Jpegs , but my best guess is someone with experience in doing this will see your post Monday and give you some pointers. M.
  15. are you sure Facebook is uploading it at original resolution? or do they downsample automatically , like OneDrive does with my phone photos? ...sorry I don't FB , so am unsure what you are trying to do exactly.
  16. I meant you can play with the alignments differently in each ponywall to align things like your PDF and also the wall width with the airgap and you can get this: Your adjusted plan: Pony Wall Section_M1.plan
  17. Higher quality or bigger size? the quality is in the Resolution you use ,72PPI is basic web images for fast downloading on website etc. use 300 or 600 instead perhaps if you want to change the size , you need to use an orthographic TOP View , then you will get the other options too, ie resizing the image.
  18. I am surprised a bit that that section PDF meets code with house really sitting on a 4x8" concrete wall with that large brick ledge rebate... Walls always align outside of main layer to outside of main layer , unless you have changed something , though I think Masonry walls are the only exception (Check Manual) which should align to the exterior of the brick or block. ponywall alignment is also controlled in the wall's DBX not just the Wall Definition DBX
  19. would a round gable vent or resized Wall register (midget louver) be close enough for the "look" ? .....MEP>Ventilation M.
  20. I would send the Error message to Tech Support , in case it is serious, ( some kind of Disk error?) it does not happen on my Computer with your plan when I save your new Beadboard to my library. Another Tip is when you redefine a material like that is to rename the new Material then , at the same time in the DBX when changing the Colour , so you don't end up with duplicate Names that are actually different Materials. here is your Beadboard material Paramount's Beadboard.calibz
  21. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00107/ see the part on "To accommodate large terrain" , this usually works for me for what is known as z-fighting (flickering) I have not seen you other error myself , not even in your plan when I changed the Beadboard to Gray. hopefully you don't have a HardDrive issue.
  22. Yep good tip .... If you had set the new Room to ATTIC, at the end of the vid , the roof would of dropped back down to sit on your new 6" floor structure BTW. With Auto Roofs on, you have to ignore the 3D windows if you have one open , until you are finished making your settings or you are likely to think you did something wrong as you get some super crazy roofs sometimes till you are said and done.
  23. that may not work ,if the Windows Built in Utiity is not the default Zip Program , ie I use 7zip and this does not happen.
  24. I assume you mean RWL's (downpipes) there are some in the Water Supply and Drainage library , but I haven't tried them yet http://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site/detail/638
  25. Thx Yusef , looks interesting , can the niche be used in Bathrooms too? ie no frame or casing
