Terry your Drawing sheet is 384' wide by 288' ( yes feet) , that's some big printer you got ..... your current Print scale is 1/4" to 4' I can however easily move the sheet without moving the Point , so not sure what you are doing there Just delete the basement, 1st ,2nd and 3rd Floors for now , then you know it's all gone and you just have your defaults setup and everything will align perfectly when rebuilt don't worry that the drawing sheets don't line up with the model at this point , that doesn't effect the model , 00 is always 00 no matter where the "sheet" is. something like this Terry's Template Plan.plan

zip the plan or make a copy and strip out stuff we don't need to see like cabinets and furniture , the Terrain etc.

Well its not just 1512 which has fascia heights all the same, now it looks like you have 2 gables in the front and a skirt Roof as well Unless they want 3 design options ? I assumed the other sketch was wrong somehow ....builder in a rush.... and it works if you are okay with a roof height change in the back corner.

Yes I misunderstood too , I thought the garage floor was to be 12" lower ... need to have another Play.... I actually cheated , as I thought D. only wanted a visual , there is a mix of 8' and 9' stud walls but by using heeled Trusses they all "look" like 9' once the siding is on. Though I don't think it has sloped ceilings like in Gel.'s pic either. the new sketch seems to show an extra roof plane over the front door though ....so no longer 5 planes again. I am not sure why the builder just isn't giving them 9' stud throughout ....much nicer "feel" esp. on a smaller Home like this and way easier to build.

in the bad old days , yes ran into that one....several times as SSD's died , thankfully today said Co. allows online deactivating from any computer ..

Well what do you know it works I'll tell ya how tomorrow ........ ok ok ... now not sure if 100% correct but...... Build whole house (floor 1) at 9'1" , turn off Auto roof , and then lower the ceiling in the Rooms you want 8'1" ( and Don't ever turn Auto Roof Build On again , Use manual roofs if needed.) 1512_MH.plan Hopefully what you need , I gone for now... night Mick

I must be missing something , perhaps a fresh look tomorrow if you post the plan file but you have 4 roof planes over the main house and 2 over the garage bumpout , which one are you going to eliminate to make it 5?
-
I think Sherry is right , Your model can't be right if there is supposed to be 5 roof planes , there would have to be a gable at the back or something to eliminate one of the planes you have there now.... or you miscounted and meant 6 Your Plan must have been open in CA when you zipped it , as the zip file is empty. you don't need to zip it if the plan is smaller than 25mb nowadays btw.. If you scanned and PDF'd those instructions they would be easier for people to see/read too. And the Join Roof Planes Tool wont fix that corner for you ? M.

Thanks Larry , so it's not really a Zfighting issue then ....something to do with Shadows by what Brad_M said ... didn't realise he was from CA either, most of them have the Green CA Avatar. Like you I didn't think you could be "too far away" by clicking on the Camera Icon....but.....what do I know They should add this info to the Flickering Textures KB article if that's the case.... someone else if bound to run into it too. Mick.

Schooled again ..... here I was thinking the qbasic I used on a Commadore64 in the 80's could of done it better I am not sure why CA doesn't auto add a zero to all the single digit numbers then, sort list sort correctly, but maybe it can't ? M.

Hmmm pretty sure it ain't 1980 still ...ASCII ??? time to update some Code from CA-0. . Perhaps beta testers found it but wasn't a priority to fix? I'm working on a small single level place and there are 70 walls already. Good thing I know a good man who knows Ruby thanks again
-
Did you find a solution Larry? Guess I missed something.....
-
Wow... thanks Joe ...really appreciate that. It was a pita looking for say wall 7 and having to scroll all the way down . Not sure WTH CA can't do it properly in the 1st place ....lazy programming... but THX. Mick.

One other question on the Walls Details , int the project Broswer is there a way to make the List sort numerically ...properly instead of 1,11,12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19,2,20,21,22,23,24,25,26 etc etc

HD posted on HT too so I directed him to Glenn's post , which makes sense, I was thinking they meant an extra floor.

Wall hatching doesnt show on plan, but displays in create wall
Kbird1 replied to LisaDz's topic in General Q & A
Did you make the New Wall type the new Default Wall, (interior or exterior Wall) via Edit>Defaults>Walls ,>ext. or int or change the Wall-type Drawn to the New Wall type in the WallTypes Tab of the Wall's DBX? M. -
Yes , I think that's right as long as you don't alter the wall , then it re-inserts the default layer # text. M.

You can Clean install if you use the Media Creator and make the DVD or USB Key to install it , generally it is probably better to go Clean every few years to get rid of the "gunk" but can be a bit of work..... Think I'll let it upgrade 1st and see how things go then perhaps spend the time to do a Clean install if all is well. Media Creator https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Hi HD , you actually want to be over on The HomeTalk (HT) Q&A Forum , this is the CA Forum for people willing to pay for help.... use you same ID and Password over there .....see ya there... https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/forum/5-qa/ https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ M.

You are correct , if you alter the wall the Wall Layer# text comes back by default , it gets the no# from the Framing Layer in your Wall's definition , it isn't always 3. Might be 4 or 6 or whatever depending on what is outside the Framing Layer ie building paper, rainscreening , rigid insulation, sheathing, ,siding etc. If you delete the Auto text ,not the Box, just the text inside it and add the view name macro it will also stay in the view even if CA re-adds the default Wall Layer text again , it just maybe hard to see as it is under the new Wall Layer Text , pull the new Wall layer text down and you will find the one you inserted the Macro into as well.(1st pic) Joe meant for you to check the Wall Layer Text's Layer , not the Wall's Layer 3 and turn it off , see the 2nd pic below . Turn that Layer off in Layout and Assign the Textbox with the Viewname macro to a new Layer copied from the 1st one and renamed, (see 3rd pic) leave the View name Macro Text Layer on in Layout. M.

Hmmm well that would not of occurred to me ....or likely anyone else I'm thinking ..... But mine is set to the Default 12 currently so I'll try 8-10 thanks once more .... I do use the Tab Key but admit I am not a great keyboarder due to a left hand injury a few years ago , but find the TAB Key will cycle thru and often miss the thing I am after so I have to try again. This is when I go click crazy but with X7 that can cause CA to freeze temporarily while it catches up with my "crazy clicking" , don't try that in the Library either , I've had it crash a couple of times now and have seen one or two other reports of the same issue. If its a resolution issue perhaps I need a 4k monitor currently using 1980 x 1080 triple screen. thanks Glenn M.

I don't think the Cursor "focus" is all that accurate myself unless you zoom right in , this is one of my Pet Peeves with CA. I see it all the time for example in smaller rooms especially like Bathrooms , you try to select the Room by clicking on the floor and it gets the Room Label , so you try again and it get the cabinet, move over a bit it gets the toilet, so zoom in and try the floor in the same spot again and finally you can open the Room.... it seems even worse if your cursor Aperture is anything but zero too but maybe it just me or my Mouse ?
-
Thx again Joe appreciate you speeding time to answer questions and "schooling" me on "best practices" with CA. Mick.

Is this new , with the new cabinet DBX ? in X7, I thought I had used the Control Key in the past to push them in
