  1. Thanks Graeme , I need to do that too.
  2. Good cos it looks pretty much like the photos I saw , except the room above the garage roof needs lowering , but I don't see any railings... if you went in from baseline another 2-3" ? with the Mansard setting it would look closer I think, looks a bit short now, on the main house. M.
  3. I meant the room over the garage, popping up thru the roof , it's roof is lower than main garage/entry roof. I'll download plan when back in the Office soon but still not clear on your issue. M.
  4. the garage popout room roof is lower than the garage roof , and garage is lower than main house ...in the photos ... so what are you trying to do?

    Log Homes

there used to be a Log wall and truss Libraries ...but have not checked lately
  8. I am Dualbooting Win7 and Win10 at the moment , and I know that the Win10 preview will stop working any day now , but was hoping I can install Win10 on the separate partition and continue on , so I can still use win7 as a backup OS until Win10 sorts itself out if needed.
  9. from the pic Greg it looks like you lost the front entry space .....so Chief isn't "confused" any longer ....though you could turn off the Roof rebuild , if it's now right and do whatever you need to your walls.... M.
  10. I guess that's why Win 10 is Free I 'm beta testing Win10 a bit too but haven't tried CA on it , do you know if we can Dual boot Win10 , or will the Free Upgrade only all an Upgrade to existing Os's? M.
  11. I guess it's how I read it , I thought it meant the Leica's were iOS only but not good , that's a severe crimp in the BT capability with only two to choose from , so I'd have to wonder about Bosch's own App and exporting it's Data to CA. New 4.0 Feature List: -Android version (see sys. reqmts below) -Total Square Footage Calculation; turn off living area for uninhabited rooms (like garage and utility spaces) -Clone Tool; copy and paste objects -Adjustable Wall Widths; set wall widths for individual walls -Add-On Catalogs; purchase Library Content to expand your catalog -Improved Sojourn® “Walk Thru Model” experience -Standalone Dimension Tool -Updated User Interface -Additional Bluetooth Laser Support: Bosch Laser Meter GLM 100 C, Leica devices D810 & D910 (iOS only) - 2D Vector View; see materials applied in 3D views display in the 2D floor plan -And, a few other updates
  12. Did they change the Specs? , it was posted here that it does , which is why I checked out the Bosch last week https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/5122-drawing-an-as-built-from/page-3#entry49695
  13. good to know it works on the Note4 , it maybe my next purchase.... The Bosch one seems priced better than the Leica's I have seen in the past , it comes with software too, I have a Bosch non-Bluetooth which works fine, BT wasn't an option when I got mine 2-3 yrs ago http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.boschtools.com%2FProducts%2FTools%2FPages%2FBoschProductDetail.aspx%3Fpid%3DGLM%2B100%2BC&ei=VtWUVYjrLs-voQTsz5uoDg&usg=AFQjCNHHjhnBdUbAmc1HUmp7-OsGHqpgAQ&bvm=bv.96952980,d.cGU http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-GLM-100-Bluetooth-Lithium-Ion/dp/B00G5R4E1S there are also 2-3 YT vids if you like the look of this model. M.
  14. right now I'd take it , I think we have inherited California's Heatwave / drought.... 10 pm and it's still 32deg. up in the living room...
  15. That roof will give the framer a headache for sure it just looked like the auto roof plane was actually going thru the point on the entry side of the wall instead of the roof side of that wall ,CA is confused ( again ) by there being two exterior walls at that point so it is cutting off the end of that wall at a 45° which may be why one side of the wall is missing. M.
  16. 1. you haven't set the second floor room to open below ,which causes the issue on the inside and 2. your have two different wall types sitting on top of each other at post height by the looks, causing the exterior issue.. M.
  17. yep funky corner , you will need to fix the roof there too , but that wall is Interior 4" and it is coming up thru the roof , the other one is similar , try the "if butting roof " setting after switching wall to siding 4 .
  18. I think this is the 1st update that didn't kill my pinned icon or recent list there , so that's a plus too .... M.
  19. Hi Joey , it's not perfect but a lot better than it was, good brain exercise for sure, who needs Luminosity... I have CT The garage foundation was 3 feet down the drive from the wall , hence the roof on the driveway , and I had to reset your room heights to make it work , so don't know that it is as it should be ..... and I think you built the whole 2nd storey ,even over the garage auto right? I broke those walls to let the roof built off the 1st floor wall plates too. I'm also thinking a rubber ducky in the Pool maybe more appropriate Lumsden Original_R1_Fix.plan
  20. Hi, @ 1st Mountaineer ,apologies for mixing your thread up with Shane's issue as well , thankfully Curt has helped with your issue . @ Yusef , no ,that's right , CA has no issue doing Trusses fully width including the Porch and that is like how many new homes would be built but in a renovation situation or were it is just cheaper to buy standard 10/12 trusses "off the rack" , you may want to hand frame the porch roof with 2x10 rafters or similar. ( you should get x7 trial version? perhaps) However Chief will replace (delete) any rafter/ceiling joist that is too close to a truss ,which is an issue for a total Auto Build roof, but Trusses are not auto build anyway so it is not too much extra work to make Chief do what you need , in either Shane's Roof configuration ( few CAD lines to work out the "in from baseline height and for editing the 1st truss shape , or the Way Chief builds a double pitch roof with the truss bearing on the wall. After having a play tonight , there are a couple of anomalies , like the end truss building out to the porch beam unlike the other trusses, which stop on the wall , if the wall is set with a 1 1/2" overhang, so they need editing too. The porch get the end ceiling joists but not the rest , an easy fix and the same with Rafters depending on how y you do it it seems. (need to play more?) But here are a few pics of what I found..... if you need the plans let me know....
  21. Manually Drawn trusses give you raked portal/ truss frames when I tried it , and roof beams or Lookouts done manually should do the rest I think? Perhaps ask Graeme nicely to "share" his plan for tips
  22. You can see from the raked wall framing the rafters run parallel/up the slope not across as I thought the OP wanted?

    Cad

can't you lock every layer except Cad,Default ( or whatever you use) and maybe text too if you want to change notes? so you can't select them. M.
