  1. Not sure I did anything thanks Mark !
  2. In Chief , Wall heights are governed by the Roof Plane , which is how they are normally controlled but you can Pull a wall down in an Elevation View and do it all manually if desired / needed , it's just more work , so you'd open the elevation on the wall you want 6' , (6 O'C) select the wall and change the height to 6' , then do the same for the 8' Wall (12 O'C ) or whatever height you want ( eg 8' and 10' ) , then open the Left and Right Elevations , (3 and 9 O'C ) select the wall and pull the required corner down to the 6' height. You will then need to mess with the Roof Plane as it will still build as normal as if all the walls are still 8ft but once you know the Roof Pitch ( found using a CAD line in side Elevation it isn't too Hard. You can then get it to Auto frame the Roof for you so you don't need to do the Rafters Manually too. M. Angled Wall Plan.plan
  3. I would say use the Tranform Replicate Tool and rotate to the desired angle but not being able to group select and block the Island is a bit strange.... In a pinch I'd have thought the Parallel Tool may work too but both will be a pain if the Island isn't blocked , no idea why without the plan to look at though....
  4. Gables Walls by Design have no pitch , if you want a 10/12 over the Garage you would change it in the Other two (hip) walls of the Garage , ie N/S if the 2 Gables walls are E/W. Any single wall may have a different Pitch from the Default eg 8/12 in this case. M.
  5. The Tags are for Forum Search Use , to make it easier for other Users to find similar Topics. Usually I draw a "House" ie 30'x24' box and place the Bathroom inside it on the appropriate Wall , so that later I can take Image for the Client from the Hall or Bedroom etc. You need a foundation and Roof for Ray Traces in Particular for the Lighting to work properly and walls and cabinets not to show "light bleeding" through there Corners etc. Normally I draw the xxxxx.As-Built Plan > Save As xxxxx.Proposed > Show Client >Make Changes as needed > Save as xxxxx.Final Plan You can use different Wall types/fills (see below everything is On except furniture) or Hatching for New and Existing and Layer Sets or Annotation Set will allow you to Switch different things on and Off like Electrical, Plumbing Fixtures, Dimensions , Cad (Nuheat Mat in this case) etc Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. 6. Anyone can get the X10 Beta in their Digital Locker now AFAIK .....it will just expire Feb 20th if you don't have SSA... M.
  7. It sounds like X8 is still the Default "Handler" for .calibz Files , you can go to Settings>Apps>Default Apps> Scroll to bottom >choose Defaults Apps by File Type> scroll down and find .calibz > Click on the Program name (X8?) and choose X9 or X10 > Ok/Close Settings.... it doesn't normally need a Reboot by may ... 8. I believe Brick Walls are a Special Case Situation ( I don't deal with them much) and Chief Treats the Brick as the Main Layer for these Wall Types not the Framing Layer... It's also why they Align differently in some situations.... Aligning Foundation Walls The Foundation To This Line setting in the Wall Type Definitions dialog controls how a wall of a given type aligns with foundation walls directly below on Floor 0. By default, Foundation To This Line is specified for the Main Layer of most wall types. An exception to this are brick wall types, which have Foundation To This Line specified for the exterior siding layer. See Brick Ledges.
  9. Thanks G. I had not read about that change anywhere , I guess that is as of Beta #3 then ? , I will have to turn mine back on then. M.
  10. I use the same settings Graham posted above , Bloom makes things "soft" to my eye and the weird shadow in the Corners and at the wall / ceiling connect is caused but Ambient Occlusion and at 40-50% it looks more Natural. You can now Preset your Camera Views in the Plan Defaults>Camera Tools or do it in the Active Camera DBX too. Some settings are in Plan Defualts>3D Camera View Defaults too ...eg the PBR Default Exposure. PBR is also way too Dark for me , the exposure setting needs to be at least 3x-4x higher than the default (0.18) for me ( try .5675-.6575) and the Use Improve Lighting Quality should be On. The one I have not been sure of is the Smooth While Idle..... I thought this was for people with lesser Video-Cards like the Intel GFX Cards? and those of us with Nvidia 900-10x Series Cards shouldn't need it since they were "Fast Enough to do it on the Fly" ? M.
  11. I see the Blocking flush to the ply (sheathing) sometimes, cos they want to sheath the wall and stand it, and don't want to add strips later. Usually the ply is upto the bottom of the Top Cord (2x4), the rest is open for Roof Venting , so notching shouldn't be needed.... would depend on the Job I'd think though ? the ply is supposed to act as a "hold-down" in high winds , so not sure flush blocking would pass in all areas or with all inspectors. M.
  12. thanks I'll try some different settings and see how it goes . personally I don't like drop shadows and Mouse cursor shadows so those are off already. M.
  13. Thanks G. I will give it a try , it's been annoying me..... had/have an issue with my NVME SSD and thought it was related to that. anything in particular to "tweak" ? M.
  14. Wasn't sure I would ever use it that much so I haven't as most of the Patterns I make as Square or Rectangular , and for most Clients I use Standard Views anyway. It amazes me that CA lets these Manufacturers do as little as possible in their Libraries , eg no Patterns or Search attributes or like the Issue with the REV-A-Shelf Catalog ... ie everything is one Material.
  15. I am also seeing this "hesitation" in DBX's opening.....thanks for mentioning it as I was thinking I had a hardware Issue . Like Graham I would think in X10 that the 780m is pushing it limits especially in Large Models. Don't know much about the AMD Radeons Apple seems to be using now from you Post above though. M.
  16. Thanks Mike.... it was the best I could to to make it "seamless" as the Pic above was not shot 100% square on to the Tile ...I don't have Photoshop for doing Bump and Normal Maps etc so I just used the Kacy White Lahiana Material and changed the Texture. Did you buy Hatch Kit? is that how you got the Pattern file? , the free Excel Generator works well for square or rectangular tiles.
  17. Nice Find Chopsaw ! that would of taken some diligent digging to find ....
  18. They are aware of the Issues and are working on it , but many of the Materials are currently being updated to work properly with the New PBR ( Physical Based Rendering) View Type. It's a good Idea to Update your Catalogs a couple of times a week at the moment to get any updates. All 3D views now use RCSS (Ray Casted Sun Shadows) to so you may find the CPU working harder to keep up as these new Shadows are RT Based , but can be disabled in either the Camera Views Defaults or in the Camera View itself. M. More Info Here :
  19. Turn Off Opening Indicators in the Camera View works.... but you'd lose them all ...is the sidelight a Door? you may need to make them from a full height window to just turn them off.
  20. Thanks Cheryl , I didn't have the X10 version of that Library, it now is split into two with Stone and Tile. It is Cactus Stone> Tile > Natural Stone > Style > Kacy White Lahaina The Tuscany Light Lahaina is also Arabesque Style... http://www.cactustile.com/detail.aspx?id=11292 **** Unfortunately they cheated , there is no Pattern File so the Material is no good for Vector Views , below I changed the Colour to White and Blended it with the Texture to get these Pics. The One Above the OP Posted..... still no Pattern MHD_Tile_White_Arabesque-Fancy.calibz
  21. If you "Rollback" and don't disable Windows Update Driver Updates then Windows Update will replace the Driver with the Latest WHQL Driver... That being said , don't "Rollback" via Device Manager just run the required/wanted Driver and do a Custom , Clean Install as mentioned above. Have not tried 390.77 yet I was waiting a couple of Days to see if there were any reports here or elsewhere of Issues. M.
  22. VideoCards and DDR4 Ram are out of this world as far as pricing goes currently, in some cases almost double suggested Retail due to Ram Shortages and the Crypto Currency Fad at the moment, at least locally Stores have stopped people buying more than one Card . $1350-$1500 for a Card that should be $899 Ouch... $899 was too high...in my book at least, I got a second hand 980Ti , which is approx. a GTX1070 instead , lots of Gamers are upgrading and I didn't need the latest and greatest. Having 6 Cores on my 5820K does seem to help though.... M.
  23. I did say it may not work in your Particular Situation, but what that trick actually does is the Key here , as Eric said sometimes Chief is "Too Smart" , so we need to be smarter.... *Hint* : To be an Exterior Door, it must have Exterior Space one side and Interior Space on the Other. Once again will "this Trick" work in all Situations I don't know? AND do everything for you automatically? likely NO, as some manual cleanup maybe needed eg deleting the auto Slab footing , and since Chief doesn't like MonoSlabs against a StemWall Foundation , you'll need to do some manual Foundation work anyway. ( A very old issue and still quirky ) Would a Checkbox in the Door DBX for Type be be nice ? sure .. but a single Room Divider line will get you there now... and cleaned up.. M.
  24. looks okay in X9 here at least in the living to Kitchen openings , the Dining Rm Open still has a tiny Casing specified which caused no baseboard in my drawing.... I also noted some weird holes in the Corners of your baseboard but am not sure if that is an X9 issue with the X7 Plan? there is some weirdness with the windows sills too but I suspect that is cos I don't have all the materials you have ......
  25. The Easiest Fix is to place the Door in an EXTERIOR Wall Type so it remains an Exterior Door . You can do this easily by Copying your Exterior Wall Type and Changing the Exterior Finish to Drywall and the Fill to match the Interior Walls if needed..... I have not tried this on a Monolithic Slab Foundation build , but I imagine a Footing is needed at that wall anyway in a lot of cases ( loadbearing?) , worth trying anyway to see if it helps in your particular situation.
