  1. Yep, in some places like UK, Oz, Nz, all Baseboard is called Skirting or Skirting Boards , Casing is called Architrave , etc.
  2. In Chief if you "Show the Wall Stringer" , you are actually showing the Stair Baseboard ( Kicks or if old school also called a "Stringer" in some parts) which is always On the Drywall not buried. It is not the Cut Stringer (the notched 2x12 , also called a Carriage or even Horse in the US) below the Treads and Risers, this is never seen in a Closed Stair so Chief doesn't even built them , you see the Tread and Riser material whether it is hardwood or Carpet etc. Prebuilt Factory Made stairs are a different matter and Chief does not model these housed/or mortised Stinger type Stairs specifically but it gets close enough , perhaps it is these you use commonly? , I don't personally, I build all my own, for Closed Stair types , and also space them with a 2x off the framing giving them room for Drywall and the Baseboard to slip down the side. 3. Thanks for the Follow-up Derek. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that M.
  4. Looks good Greg , did you happen to try Brian Becks advice in Post# 28 1st before changing the Material ? I Wonder if it may give your Countertop a bit of "life" too M.
  5. I was just making some pics of the Settings actually as my "Fix" maybe a bit confusing for some.... just tried them in a Plan I recieved from another Forum User and all seems good so far.
  6. did you try the "fix" in post no# 43 and #46? works in the Beta....not sure about Full Release. edit *** Have you changed the Default exposure or Brightness for PBR ? I am finding .25 EXP and 20 Brightness is nice for Interiors tonight. M.
  7. I have only seen the White Out issue in PBR Views ...which are X10 Only .....and I think I found a fix, that works for me anyway which is linked above in #13 M.
  8. funny you say that cos my "fix" this morning for the Beta was the Opposite ....ie turn on Improved lighting Quality and set the Auto lights to 100 and reshoot the view. M.
  9. I'm not surprised either , X5 was not meant to be used with Pressure Sensitive Pens or Touch Screens , I have not tried either with my Surface3 , I have X7 on it and use the Logitech MX-2 Mouse ( Bluetooth or Wifi ) with it when needed. M.
  10. seems to be quite a difference in the Ceiling and Fridge Stainless , but not sure the web images are doing it justice or not? M.
  11. I don't think the Ixxxt was on your end in that case Looks like CAD Masks cleaned it up for you? M.
  12. I see you have 2x6 or 2x8 there already so I assume you mean automatically make the Sloped Ceiling fill in? no way that I am aware of but thinking about it now I wonder if you made that short piece of 2x8 floor Floor a Landing instead the Stairs would handle things differently? ....haven't tried it... but I don't think the Auto slope section will happen unless you trick it somehow. M.
  13. In case you missed it Eric.......Brian Beck posted this in another Thread about how to handle Reflective Materials in X10 20.1 ( Full Release ) Creating a General Material with a low roughness and a higher specular value should give you a very reflective surface in 20.1. Altering the roughness and specular values should give you the control needed to get results similar if not the same as X9. Have you been able to test this out? If you are still getting undesirable results in this area please submit a plan to tech support so we can look into the issue further.
  14. Wow a down vote for mentioning X9 .8 has issues for some , I guess there are some CA Fanboy's around here who can't see the Trees for the Forest..... M.
  15. a possible fix, working for Me ...at least in Beta3 so far https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16912-lets-pbr/?do=findComment&comment=142683 M.
  16. Do you have Ceiling Surfaces on in X10 ? I see two different ones in X9 ( kitchen and living Room) curious cos that looks like the OSB/Plywood showing over the Kitchen like you have no Ceiling Material or Ceiling in Rooms are Off ? M.
  17. I have tried this in another Users' Plan I was helping this morning and it also works there ....once the defaults and Enhanced lighting is turned on and the Original Camera deleted , and then reshot...once again I am using the Beta3 Still. M
  18. I haven't updated yet as I wasn't sure if I should install over the Beta , or Uninstall it and reinstall Clean as an Upgrade ( to X9) and perhaps not migrate anything , what would you suggest?
  19. I think I may have figured it out this morning , at least in the Beta.... try this ..... if you use the Automatic light Set? then set the Limit to 100 with Improve lighting Quality On ( 50 maybe enough in some plans , not in Grandview for me? ) , if left on the Default of 8, I can reproduce the White Out effect ...at least in the Grandview Plan ..still best to reshoot the View to fix it though as it seems to not like it if not reshot...I have set 100 in my Camera Defaults too now, to see if it continues or not , but need to test more to confirm if it works as maybe it is just a placebo or one off ?. M
  20. Are you letting it install over the beta or doing a Full Uninstall and Reinstall ? just wondering if a Full Reinstall with no Migration ( X9 or X10Beta) maybe the best way to go ? M.
  21. Thanks Joe , appreciate it , lets hope Napolean will come to the party and make a Full Library at some point.
