  1. I think it's there in X9 to actually but I have never used it ... just remembered seeing it in X10 , but TBH Chief still deals with it badly and I am not sure there is a good workaround , I would repost this in Suggestions though. M.
  2. In this case I think it is just the location of your Camera , you need to put the Section Line ( back red handle ) over the centre-line of the Rail , so the dims will snap to the section lines and then ignore the warning ( click ok ) about snapping to them and point markers being added. ** watch the reach distance on the Dimension, (24" default) as if you go to low , it may also measure the Deck Boards. M.
  3. The Swings from Center Option is there , unfortunately Chief does not build the Door Correctly in 3D ie the door is hinged to nothing You can turn the Casing off in this case and make the Interior Trim ( includes Jamb) Drywall and set the Jamb to 1/2" and Fit Jamb to Wall. seems to work for me ( not 100% convincing) but maybe I didn't pick up on everything you are trying to show...? I'm in X10 if it makes a difference... Plan View isn't great though....
  4. Or via the Active Camera Icon in any 3D View as Backdrops and some other settings have been moved into the Camera DBX now.
  5. Try harder ...... I will just have to play around with it , not sure how I missed this one over the years....... I was surprised that Chieftutor now blocks alot of content except for Members..... so I am not sure if your stuff is still there now or it is a whole new Site? M.
  6. You will get better Performance if you use the Nvidia Card for all 3D including HD or Chief ,( or gaming) the issue is that HD and Chief don't have built in Profiles in Nvidia's Control panel , so it doesn't know HD or Chief is a 3D App and switch to the Nvidia Card automatically. The laptop is supposed to use the Intel card for 2D work ( cruising the Forums or whatever) , cos it saves battery power. Microsoft forces the latest Drivers onto systems without them via Windows Update which has caused issues in Chief for many as the 388.xx series Drivers especially on Notebooks has been causing weird issues like not being able to open the Label Tab in DBX's. M.
  7. Their maybe hope then cos DJP posted the CA10 files a few days ago so he likely has them...
  8. he was looking for the two textures in the OP M.
  9. I am curious what the Railing Tool/Tab isn't doing for you that would make you want to do this Manually? M.
  10. My Favourites link to @dshall Scott's Video's no longer works as it seems ChiefTutor.com is now paid members only, which I didn't realise... So hopefully he does still have it saved somewhere....or it's on Youtube now? M.
  11. I played with Vaughn's plan ( linked above) yesterday , which had the same issue ,looked perfect in X9 , I was able to delete the exist one and then add them back manually selecting each roof plane but not using the Build Roof DBX or Edit all Roof Planes Tool. M
  12. apparently nobody has mentioned it in the last 10 years .... so I'm going to look into it a bit more thx.
  13. 2nd Report this week .....was it a plan brought Forward from x9 ?
  14. This has been happening in X10 due the the fact X10 doesn't always update the the Default File associations , did you try the x10 Beta by chance? Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite.
  15. Well make sure to send the Plan in to Tech. Support or they will likely never know there is an issue....it's the 1st report I have see of it. M.
  16. It doesn't look like John moved his User name ( jsimanyi ) over here to the New Forums , but I know Lew ( @lbuttery ) used to collect most of the posted Libraries off the Forums , maybe if you are lucky he still has it in his collection of Old Files. M.
  17. The old Forum is still there if not 100% functional ( search box still works) , you might still find it if you are lucky, I did find a post from Him in 2006 about waterfalls...but no symbol in that one.... http://www.chieftalk.com/showthread.php?19276-Waterfall-Woes&highlight=waterfall Waterfall Search http://www.chieftalk.com/search.php?searchid=10854 M.
  18. Well that'smy new Tip for today , thx. never seen that mentioned before or knew it was even possible... that should save some work. M.
  19. Have you set the Wall's Roof Directive to 5/12 on each side of the "Wings" ? The problem is here on the Pro Forum we don't know what your Version of the Software can do, though a simple Roof like this should need no Manual roof planes. So set the Main Building Roof Pitch at 9" and then enter each wall of the "Wings" Roof angle at 5", in their Wall DBX and set "Same Height Eaves" (S.H.E>) if that is what you want ( will cause different Overhang sizes). Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. You will need to do the Sig. for each Forum, I think but the Password and Username are the same. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite.
  20. The Account Page does not divulge any of that info , as Dermot said you need to Contact Sales or Customer Service who will do a Invoice on Request, personally I had to ask that it showed US $$$ too . Otherwise the Email Confirmation you get when you Buy or Renew you SSA Subscription is all you get, though I am not sure if the Rental Program does it differently if that is what you are on? Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite. M.
  21. Good Point Mark and something to watch for, I find Abode tends to default to "Fit" to Page or "Shrink" to Page , both which for me Print at 95% Zoom. M.
  22. I don't know if the Issue is Nvidia Related , I have just seen many reports here on the Forum Lately so I made the Post linked in Post No#2 here. your Driver Version is actually the last 5 digits of the Number above ie 388.31 which is known to have issues for some , you need to download the Notebook version and install 382.05 from the Iink to my Other Post above in Post No#2.... Perhaps do this 1st , then do the Switch above...
  23. try this Tony , if HD is using the Intel HD Graphics instead that's good but the Performance won't be the same. Since you hadn't assigned the Nvidia Discrete GFX Card to use it for 3D, you may need to though? I think it is supposed to switch automatically , but that does not always work for Chief and the Home Designer Titles as it is not a Game and does not have a "Profile" in the Manage 3D Tab of the Nvidia Control Panel, so you have to ADD HD 2018 to the List. If the below does not work I would check your Laptop Manufacturers Website for specific instructions for your Model. How to change NVIDIA Optimus graphics settings How do I change the graphics processor preferences using the NVIDIA control panel? NVIDIA Optimus technology allows your computer to automatically switch between the integrated graphics processing unit (GPU) and the NVIDIA GPU. You can manually adjust these settings to change which GPU is used. Use the following steps to adjust graphics processor preferences. Right click on the desktop and select NVIDIA control panel. Select Manage 3D settings. Click Global Settings. Note: To change settings for an individual program, select Program Settings instead of Global Settings. Select your preferred graphics processor: Auto-Select – Provides a balance between performance and power savings. High-performance NVIDIA processor – Provides optimal performance. Integrated graphics – Provides optimal power savings. Under Settings, you can adjust the settings for each feature to meet your needs. Click Apply to save your changes. or this page: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Faq/How-to-force-Optimus-or-Switchable-discrete-GPUs/97
  24. Thanks for the Tip and the Macro Joe , I appreciate it. Mick.
  25. Okay ...a partial fix in X10 , your curved Roof is causing Issues still... Eric's suggestion about the curves Roof may help with this.... go into Build Roof>Edit All Roof Planes>Frieze and delete the 8x3 Crown Moulding in there. and exit ( don't add anything back here...didn't work for me anyway ) Now Select the Roof Planes themselves and add the desired Frieze Back as needed. ...could be a bit painstaking .... I made a quick 18 x 4 Moulding instead of the 2 piece Original , for these pics.. FlatStock Moulding including the New Frieze. MHD FlatStock Mouldings.calibz
