  1. My guess would be your Dims. are not set to Use 1/16th currently OR your Snap Grid is not set to 1/16th too , thus allowing you to Draw to that same Accuracy in the 1st Place. For the Existing Drawing you could try Rounding the Dims differently eg to 1/4" to see if the 1/16th Fractions disappear. Lew's Suggestion Post covers most of it from another thread Last month. M.
  2. What Mark said.... if you close the View without Saving it , you are deleting that that View... it even asks you before doing it the 4 Auto Elevations are Auto-saved , that's why the are always there... , if you use Auto Elevations off the 3D menu M.
  3. Found it ......it would seem you forgot this "nugget" from last September Glen's Original post is higher up..... Post # 16 worth a read too later in the Thread Above
  4. Thanks Vinnie , it will save others alot of time I think.... just edit the 1st Post and you can add AMD to the Title Too... Mick.
  5. Hi Vinnie perhaps you could change the title of this Thread to include the AMD Issue so Others find the information Posted here , thanks. Also check the Post above as you don't have the last available Driver for your Card either. (15.7.1) same as JBHammer Mick.
  6. The HD 7500 supports Windows 10 but the ATI Radeon 7500 does not according to AMD, it appears you have the HD 7500 so good there.... but it is a legacy device though , ie no longer Supported by AMD but it looks like you don't have the last Catalyst Driver made available for legacy cards installed .... 15.7.1 which is here : https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows 7 - 64 There is also a CRIMSON DRIVER available version 16.2.1 on the page above to try WINDOWS 10 SUPPORT FOR AMD GRAPHICS CARDS https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Win10-Driver-Support.aspx From above link: This article provides information about Windows® 10 driver support for AMD Radeon™ Graphics products. 7. You are not in the Account>Signature area..... It seems they are by default turning Signatures Off for new members , this is what is at the bottom of my Posts in my signature...How to instructions *** to fill in your Signature like this .... go up to the top RH Corner above and click on your UserName> Account Settings> Signature.... and enable Signature (will Turn Green) then add your Hardware Details and Chief Software Version, as different Version require different Answers. ***To add Pics to your Posts please use Windows Snipping Tool , found under Windows Accessories in your Start Menu, Save the Snip to your Desktop and Drag it into the Light Grey Area of the Reply Window.
  8. Hmmmm well that is plain dumb ...no other word for it ...only a computer programmer would lay his decking out from the House Wall ....ok to be fair I have seen a couple of Home Owners do it too.... So I guess we have to draw the Outer Edge of the Deck ( or where you want the layout to start) 1st then draw the walls back to the house ? ..... I have never worried too much about it in Chief as I know how it will be done Onsite , but I can see how on a Large job it could give the Contractor a Head Start especially if a Custom layout. M.
  9. Where you typed in the Signature you should see a View Sigs. Button at the Top The Pic also has my Signature with instructions if you don't see Signatures now.....
  10. It looks like you didn't check the box/button at the top of the Signatures Panel to allow/Show Signatures as I don't see one ? hopefully you see Mine ? It may depend on what VideoCard is in the Laptp too..... Ask your Tech Guy if he has an older Nvidia card lying around , with 4GB for X10 is best , or look on Craiglist or Ebay or ask your Tech Guy to do it or keep an eye out for another client upgrading.... Graham one of the other users here just got a 1060 6GB Card this week and noticed a big performance increase , though the newer 10 series Nvidia cards are very overpriced right now due to Crypto-mining and memory shortages , which is why I suggested 2nd hand.... but spread over 2-4 years especially for business use it is likely worth it. M.
  11. Hmmmmm did you read your Thread you posted last week on this ?
  12. These may help Attic Trusses https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00933/creating-an-attic-truss.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/354/framing-with-attic-trusses.html
  13. Try the Knowledge Base (KB) too or the Online Videos https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00933/creating-an-attic-truss.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/354/framing-with-attic-trusses.html
  14. Always wondered why we don't have Terrain in Defaults and the ability to designate Sea Level or a Datum Height that Level 1 is Based off , since this info is mandatory in ConDocs. The grade level Marker can be assigned any height , so everything can be based off that height but I don't know how to make the Reference Height 386' , but I think @glennw Glen has a way to play with Heights that he has posted before about using Sea level etc, and I think he would put the Subfloor of level one at 398' is how he does it. If I find a post on it I'll post back here... M.
  15. Sorry Missed you were still in X8.... you know the story ......post the plan M.
  16. Must be part Doctor too funny how so many Architects have a similar 'Hand Style" though , that looks like one of the napkin scribbles I used to get at the Coffee Shop Years ago from an Arch. I used to do work for. M.
  17. Its not the Go Through Floor Below Issue is it? seems that Default works properly in X10 and didn't in X9 or vica versa ?
  18. No Problem , Happy to share , you do it all the time, so .... I have a larger set of Fonts collected over the years if you want to try others too from the ARCH. types And you are right I wouldn't want my hand writing on it M.
  19. Sorry , not ignoring you Mike , I was just making a little "Care Package " for you It is Called Architect's Daughter , ( it is shareware, $5 for commercial use ) I have been using it and MyHand and MyHand2 lately for a more Handwritten "look". Handwritten_ARCH_Fonts.zip *** If you are trying to delete Fonts in Windows Explorer make sure the Preview Window isn't enabled or the Font will show as "in use" and not be deleted.
  20. That was why I looked at this thread too initially, I thought maybe we had some new gem in x10, though I don't remember having to use the Break line Tool before to get edit Handles. The Door Arches issue has been around forever , though I don't use it very often , so not sure if it "came back" or has always been there? M.
  21. Some PC's are capable of Running Hackintosh (Mac OS on PC hardware) but support varies on the Hardware , you'd need to do some research 1st as it may not work with just any PC, some PC Motherboards handle it well , not sure about Nvidia Graphics and the MAC OS support though as I am the complete opposite of you ...I have never used a MAC ( except fixing several ) or any Apple Product for that matter , I started with a Commodore 64 , Tape Drive and an old TV . https://www.macworld.com/article/3196994/macs/how-to-build-a-hackintosh.html https://9to5mac.com/2017/04/26/hackintosh-macos-gtx-1080-ti-build-performance-video-part-1/ https://9to5mac.com/guides/hackintosh/ M
  22. Nice Idea ! it always seems the the Backdrop doesn't align well with the house or looks totally Fake I will need to remember to take photos out the Clients windows... M.
  23. I was just playing with it and Windows and Doors are not effected , only the Wall is "Shaped". If you meant Windows and Doors themselves you can't shape them with this trick AFAIK , you need to use the SHAPE or ARCH Tab in the DBX to change them but the ARCH Tool is limited and buggy.... see pics One quirk with Half Wall I found was I need to click the Break Line Tool after selecting the Wall to get the Edit Handles...on Full Height walls this is not needed.
  24. The only answer Provided so far is in the thread above and that was to totally disable Ambient Occlusion on Older AMD Graphics Cards , though something maybe up with you if you now see nothing at all . Perhaps Add your Signature to your Profile ( see mine for how below) so others can see what the Hardware you have and the Driver version in Use currently too. @Brian_Beck is one of the CA Developers , and the advice below was his in January .....I have seen no further news on the matter but with luck he will see this Post. We are aware of an issue that is occurring on older (7-10 year old) ATI cards that causes the ambient occlusion to generate incorrectly as shown in the original images. We are looking into seeing what we can do to resolve this. For now the best workaround as you have already discovered is to turn off the Ambient Occlusion on these cards.
