  1. Is Valley Flashing Checked in X10 under Build Roof>Options>Supply ? M. ** Edit....quick L-Shaped Roof here doesn't provide the 18-20' of Valley either in X10
  2. That is an Auto Function of CA , I am note sure how to stop it but maybe there is a "Fix" , the easiest probably is to make another Symbol from the Same Plan you made that one and in the Advanced Options uncheck Electrical ( use mounts on wall only perhaps ) so Chief won't "auto-sense" another switch when you bump them together. If that doesn't work ? I can have a play if you post the symbol , but Michael or Joe may have a trick up his sleeve for you....
  3. I think you may have turned on the Show Closed Doors and Drawers in plan Views
  4. check my Signature below on how to make yours and how to make Pics and post them directly , thanks... and posting a copy of the Plan is usually the other thing asked for as well. But do it while the Plan is closed in Chief though as Chief Locks it. M.
  5. I have never really played with ResCheck because it is US Govt. based, but I just had a look and it also includes Ontario and B.C. in Canada now , which I haven't seen anyone mention before... https://www.energycodes.gov/rescheck *** Mac Os Users now can only use the Online Version Apparently. M.
  6. The Window Schedule will Show the Sqft with Total if you choose to display it ...and the U Factor etc. The Material List will give you Totals for Walls under General > Thermal Envelope , a Macro could probably Total it. And I think Joe Carrick has a Areas Macro Package you could get if you want in-depth analysis too. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/12673-joes-macros-complete-list/#comment-109086 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/6595-joes-macro-a-month-subscription-service/#comment-59212 M
  7. Just a note.... I found recently on a MonoSlope (Shed) Type Roof, without a Flat Ceiling, it is best NOT to check the Trusses Box when you 1st Build the Roof even if you know you are going to Build them as Chief will automatically Build a 3 1/2" deep Roof Plane ( Chord depth of the Truss) and may not allow you to build or even place a Truss as it thinks there is no Roof Structure (warning message) , even though you can see it... I can't remember if I was in X9 or X10 though when working on that one..... It may also depend of the sequence you do things in Chief as you Build the Roof..... M.
  8. Yep same Dark side here too, that is why I usually have Vector Set , easy enough to switch if I really need to, but I usually just check the Item out "In Plan" if needed M.
  9. You can set your Template Electrical Defaults to Use the Bonus Decorator (Chief's name for Dacora) Library ( MEP No#3 lib.) instead of the Old Toggle Style but your Adorne symbol looks right to me.... just like the real one ?
  10. Thanks Eric..... *** For others ...make sure you View the Stairs with a Full Camera , not a Floor Camera as the Railing is really in the Basement....hence you won't see it on Level 1 with a Floor Camera.
  11. Well that would explain why you couldn't see the Shadows / light Play and it didn't change in Vector View M.
  12. this information is important and you need to close Chief and restart it , to let the Library Update itself, if you don't want to see a "Slate" coloured Exterior Door colour. M.
  13. Along with Macrium Reflect Free for Scheduled Image Backups I also use SyncBack Free to do Scheduled Backups to a internal Backup HDD and a Backup External HDD for redundacy as well as use Cloud Accounts for some stuff in case my Desktop is Stolen or there is a Fire or some other disaster.....never rely on a single backup is the best advice. https://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/index.html https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
  14. Nobody said they couldn't see the Shadow ......we were just trying to help make it better until Chief hopefully does , with the differences in VideoCards and Monitors I am sure some people see it worse than I do , but for now Vector View works for me .....another Bug report about the 3D Previews can't hurt , I wish in Previews all shadows were disabled , personally I don't need Shadows while I "Work" , just at the end when I need "pretty pictures" for the Client. M.
  15. Makes Sense Chief's Library will always have whatever they assigned OOB ........ we can't change Chief Libraries, there is a good reason for that.... And why we need to set Plan (or template plan) Defaults for many Library Items before Drawing ( preferably ) .... M.
  16. The 1st Pic is Interior Door Defaults and the Second One appears to be looking at Exterior Doors? what is the Blue Colour ? your chosen Colour?
  17. Make a big difference here ....in the Door DBX Preview .....not so much in the Library.....
  18. No , as mentioned..... they don't call it a Bug but people have been complaining about the new lighting / Shadow system since Beta as it now used in every view only we can't control it in all Views. Doesn't help in the Library Preview much that is Correct , I thought you were talking about the Door DBX view.... where I found it helped me.... You are correct there are no options in the Library like Show Wall...
  19. that's the Library Browser Preview Option, as I mentioned above... it is Separate.... I have that on Standard.... Appearance>Dialog Previews>Vector
  20. Windows are no better if you haven't checked..... It's like nobody turned the Lights on in my Plan in the DBX Preview .....looks fine in 3D camera.... I suspect it maybe cos in the DBX's there are no walls to reflect the new RCSS / Lighting. click the " show wall button" i the Preiview , it will show which side is in Shadow... M.
  21. I have actually never seen that trick or come across it here ... has to be a bug ? the railing in my Plan should be gone on level one , I deleted it, yet it's not...very strange behavior now watch them fix it cos you mentioned it here Wall Cap is not usually an issue , unless you use this trick.... at least it has always worked for me otherwise.... M.
  22. It's the All new Lighting in X10, I think..... shadows are on by default in all 3D Views now ( including Previews and DBX's) , we can't control them all though.....I just switch it to Vector ...you can set it to use Vector in Preferences too... the Library has it own Control , so you can leave it on Standard. Turn the Door in the Preview and you can see it is Shadows...... Exterior side will be bright , Interior side Shadowy.... at least for me , click the " show wall button" , will show which side is in Shadow... M.
  23. It looks like you have Shadows on in Standard View ? , switch it to Vector View and see.... M. ***edit... Shadowy / Dark in mine too
  24. Chief has a couple of Videos that show very basically the technique use with PolySolids , they make a couple of Rangehoods... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10151/creating-custom-objects-polyline-solid-hood-symbol.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/10150/creating-custom-objects-molding-polyline-hood-symbol.html
