  1. Why are you doing the Roof plane in two pieces though? maybe I need to play more?
  2. No Problem , happy to help , maybe email him/her a Link to this Thread and he can read it for himself....
  3. CA recommends the Nvidia series of Gaming Cards , that is another AMD Card...., not that it won't work but I can't say if AO is a problem on it to0 or not? a 6GB or 8GB version would be better 4GB is now the Minimum ( though listed as recommended ), due to PBR. Something like the EVGA 1060 or 1070 Cards ( or any brand ) BUT all VideoCards are expensive right now , though I see some places advertising the 1060 again , though not for $200 , If you can get an older 980Ti for $2-300 then it would be a good buy in that budget Range. the Pricing of VideoCards individually currently is why I suggested a new system as one way to get that Card and also Win10 in your Case.... New System can also be written off for Business Use? Let the older Computer become the backup - doing Accounts etc System or Donate it for a tax Credit? M.
  4. I have Noticed this Issue for a While too , the Reduced Gable / End truss does not eliminate the wall framing automatically like Trusses do will ceiling Joists and Rafters. Maybe I need to play more but I have not found the "Special Combo" of Check Boxes and Truss Placement (possibly?) to correct this automatically. M.
  5. Thanks always happy to have another Symbol , I have been messing with the Delete Surface Tool since Michael Posted the Tip over in the Tips Forum , it was how I cleaned up the really old NanaWall Library by DMDz and made a few extra Panels ( in the Symbols Forum already) DMDz NanaWalls Updated MHD.calibz
  6. Thanks Greg , but there is some weidness in the .calibz file , the Tree is Red..... , it's still using the sketchup colour by the looks... even though it shows properly in the Preview Window. *** tried the Sketchup File too and same Red tree.... M.
  7. Thanks for Posting that.... you could also export the Door from the Library and Add it to your Post for Others perhaps....
  8. The Simpson Strongtie Library has some Post Holders you could use to approximate the Post supports I think , otherwise you would need to Contact KlevaKlip and see if they have Sketchup or Other 3D Models available. ( Or are Willing to make a Chief Library) Not sure Why in CA Deck Beams can't be made Flush and at the end like normal Floor/Ceiling Beams can be....or I missed something too... FREP- Fibre Reinforced Engineering Polymer Joist Hangers are a new one on me... not available here though.... http://www.klevaklip.com.au/Klevaklip-building-products
  9. If this is happening in a Named File you should Report it to Tech Support to be addressed for the next Update..... as Noted above if you Open a New Plan always Name it Immediately before starting Drawing or Autosave will not work... Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  10. Looks like you might need to turn off the Room Mouldings Perhaps ? ( is it Baseboard?) M.
  11. I too use the Free 7-Zip (64bit since most computers use 64bit these days Control Panel>System will tell you... or Settings>System>About) https://www.7-zip.org/ just make sure you get a direct download of either , so you don't get any unnecessary addons... and watch for Checkboxes as you install , you like want to uncheck them so as not to get Add-Ons like the Google Toolbar or something... WinRar does expire but AFAIR it just nags you everytime you Open a file after the 30 days.... then lets you extract ... M.
  12. Yes if you could cos I am confused but perhaps there is a misunderstanding on what Chief can and can't do with .skp files ? CA can import .skp files directly into any plan and you can choose to save the Item to you Library while importing or you can add it later , for example after changing Materials as needed. Not all 3D warehouse Models are well made , nor can they be "exploded" without the use of the Free Sketchup Make Program, SU Make is now a web-based Free Probram though you can still download the Free 2017 version too , if you'd prefer it. This Tutorial will explain it better than me..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00117/importing-a-3d-symbol-from-an-outside-source.html Sketchup Make Online : https://www.sketchup.com/products/sketchup-free Sketchup Make 2017 https://www.sketchup.com/download/all
  13. Unfortunately no way to open files from a newer version as noted by the Others above , so I recommend saving the Plan in X9 as Your-Filename_x10 , and then Open it and immediately re-save it in X10 , ( ignore warning) so there is no way Chief can make the Original File in-accessible to X9 (Older Versions can't Open Newer Version Files) and you have a Backup if you need to go back. You should really be backing up all files to an external backup Drive and perhaps the Cloud too....as someone on the Forum just found out when his Laptop was stolen and he lost almost 3yrs work..... X10 is showing some Issues with Plans brought forward that I've run into , so I am currently thinking that unless there is a reason to bring a Plan into x10 to keep working on it in X9 until these issues are worked out in the next few Updates. M.
  14. Due to DDR4 Ram and Video Card Pricing, at the moment it is more cost effect to buy premade System from the Bigger Manufacturers eg Dell, HP, Asus,Acer etc. and others you see on Amazon or direct Chris posted about some Skytech Gaming Systems on Amazon last week which were well Spec'd for the Price. We don't have that Company here , so do your research on Customer Support. https://www.amazon.com/SkyTech-Gaming-Computer-i7-7700K-Motherboard/dp/B07B3XQF7B/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1521128498&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=SkyTech%2BOmega%2B1070ti&th=1 good advice in this thread too
  15. Not sure who Carrie is , but most People use a Template File and not Chief's OOB one , (Residental Template.plan) , though Chief does Recomment making a new Template Plan from the OOB one for each new Version. X10 is showing some Issues with Plans brought forward that I've run into , so I am currently thinking that unless there is a reason to bring a Plan into x10 to keep working on it in X9 or at a Minimum save the Plan in X9 as Your-Filename_x10 , and then Open it and immediate re-save in X10 , so there is no way Chief can make the Original File in-accessible to X9 (Older Versions can't Open Newer Version Files) if if you need to go back. M.
  16. When I was playing around with a 1/2 Wall last week for the Slanted Wall Thread I found that sometimes the Cap wouldn't Appear or I couldn't select that Tab.... and If I did slant the Wall Top the Cap stayed horizontal. Thinking about it more, I think that was in an existing plan though, started in X9, but because I was having trouble I opened a new plan with the OOB Template plan and was able to then get the Cap and the Wall Cap followed the Slant I made too.
  17. Have not seen that Error before ...just a bad download perhaps? M.
  18. HDD Storage Space is Cheap , so I have a Folder for Symbol Plans yes ...just incase I have to go back a fix something or I need it in another Width of something like that. And I usually leave Notes to myself too in th ePlan , so if I Open it 2 yrs from now I know what I did or any issues I had.. My library has enough "Crap" I have to scroll through already, so I usually only keep Blocks if needed as I usually save them in the Saved Plan (above) anyway.
  19. That's True , I was looking to see is they mentioned the AMD or Nvidia Drivers Issues but no...... Hmmm maybe they didn't fix the wall cap issue then as I was having issues with that last week I believe... Hopefully a few other "fixes" under the 'hood too they ain't talkin' about too so far , no issues noted anyway.... M.
  20. Just curious , nobody else has mentioned it..... the Updates PDF is worth a Read.....it includes the Fixes for the Final Version too ( 20.1.0.43) which I don't remember seeing when I updated to the Final Release......like the 1/2 wall Cap not generating I've encountered. *reworded post... M. x10-update-notes-20.1.1.1.pdf
  21. Looks like they made some Changes with Materials Definitions in today's Update (20.1.1.1) , worth reading the Updates File for other fixes too 2.1 3D Rendering • Fixed a problem that prevented material textures from displaying correctly on some Mac systems with Intel graphics chipsets. 2.2 Ray Tracing • Fixed a problem that could cause black squares to appear in ray trace images in some cases. In 20.1.43 (final) it mentions some stuff too... 3.17 Materials • Roughness and Material maps can no longer be specified for material classes that do not support them. • Fixed an issue where material Roughness controls could become enabled when a roughness map was applied.
  22. Are you looking for someone to input the Data you have into a Chief plan file you can then "Play with" ? ( in which case I can help like Michael above ) Or do you need someone to Come to the House , measure it and then produce the Drawings you need to "Play" with Design Options? Mick.
  23. Oooops Yes RockWool , I think SpellCheck must have gotten me there it was Roxul but is going through a rebranding at the moment.... My understanding was that Mineral Wool (Roxul) is better at Sound control and also can have a higher R-Value but I have not looked at any recent innovations in that area ( if there has been any?) so I use it in Sound applications but Fiberglass Batt normally. I actually prefer Blown Cellulose in Ceilings, and it's easy in Remodels for top ups etc. Spray Foam if they can afford it (or needed). In Alaska you may have different methods though.... https://www.rockwool.com/a/b/hello/
  24. Ouch....all that work and you didn't save the symbol plan? tsk tsk
  25. Double 5/8" works great for Sound Transmission too, and is usually Cost effective but a diligent Installer of Rockwell Roxul/Rockwool is needed too... as Air Cavities/Gaps = Sound Transmission. Make sure to have all penetrations like Electrical Outlets/Switches are Air Sealed too. M.
