Older legacy just don't have the Pre-made Plan Views like the x10 OOB Template Plan for new drawings but as Mark said you can make your own quite easily. Depending on your Toolbars, you may need to add the Plan Views Drop down and Save Buttons to make it easier. I also wonder if you could copy old plains into a new OOB Plan and get them that way? haven't tried it myself....

Well I guess that means they allow Returns then and EVGA has good RMA if needed ( why i was ok with going 2nd hand) , I'd take the discount , ask if they can do it for $500 all in.... ( don't ask , don't get) though I guess if it is a bad Card , C.C. would replace if under 15days or 30 days or whatever anyway... Do we need to go back and delete our videocard pots or is this good info for others to find? M.

I went from a IPS NEC 23" to the BenQ VA 32" (BL3200PT) at 2560x1440 (...4k was just too Tiny for me) and love the extra size , in fact I got a second one on sale ,as they changed that line to the new Series which is the one you are looking at the PD Series I think (PD3200Q). The VA Panel has not been an issue for me and saved me some ( alot) money at 32" over IPS at the time. BenQ Tech. Support has been excellent , they also use local repair facilites ( at least here) to sub out work if needed, so no shipping across country if there is an issue. HOwever NEC was also very good when I asked them a few questions even out of warranty. However CAD/CAM MODE IS HORRIBLE don't use it ..... very bad Blue Cast....at least on the BL3200PT ..I am just using the User Mode and set my own Gamma and Colour etc as Off the shlef it was set to 100% Brightness and my Calibrator say 28% is perfect I actually use the Old NEC at 1080 X1920 (Portrait Mode) on the Side for Email etc....been working great. Most Vidoecards now have 3 DP outputs ( plus HDMI and DVI-D) so I am not sure Daisy-chaining is needed perhaps on a Mac its needed? M.

That's great , if a bit pricey I imagine . Canada Computers has bought out alot off NCIX Stores who went under in Nov. . I think Memory Express got the rest of NCIX Store's. I can recommend EVGA for their RMA's , theWarehouse is in California but it is usually only 3 days with UPS if there is an issue. I've found I can get them to give me a UPS waybill for the return too M.

I use the Logitech MX2 as a secondary Mouse and like it ... but I prefer a Trackball and use a really old Logitech T-RB22.... They just released a New one about 6 mths ago called the Ergo I think but it is a Thumb Trackball , and I prefer a Fingerball like the Kensington's or Elcom Trackballs. Some like the Space Navigator Combo buy 3DConnexions....

Did you find a Retailer with a 1060 instock ? grab it while you can then ....just be careful where you buy then cos some places won't allow you to return it ....cos you don't like it... unless defective.... exchange it perhaps? M.

That has always been so as Chief doesn't recognize SLI or Crossfire , as I found out the hard way, way back when I had Dual GTX 470s, I then went eventually to the single 970 for that reason as I am not a Gamer. M.

From what I have read the 970 and 1060 are about the same performance , especially at FHD res. (1920x1080) , not sure on you monitor though? , the 2nd hand 980ti I got last Summer was about 15%-20% faster depending on the Benchmark ( FFXIV or Valley) at higher Res. eg QHD which I have now I saw a bit more , which maybe also the 4GB vs 6GB of the 980Ti. ( the 1070ti the sent me under RMA is about 6-8% better than the 980ti but has a lesser Spec when it come to CUDA Cores , which doesn't effect Chief AFAIK but may other Rendering Engines like Thea which use CUDA Cores, I actually feel like I got downgraded as the 10 series cards are not bios moddable/fixable like the 9 series. Might be worth a look 2nd hand on Craiglist around Toronto .... try and get a card where the Warranty is transferable eg I know EVGA's is but Asus may not be, For that matter you maybe able to buy a 2nd hand Computer fairly cheap with a 970/980 in it already? Gamers like to upgrade The maximum wattage you see spec'd maybe not what it draws all day every day , and I don't think Chief is going to cause it to ever pull full load , it is worth check Reviews vs Nvidia published Specs , though they are a start a 970 is about 140 w and a 980 165w I think , 980ti can add quite a bit though ( 225-250w) and require 2 Pcie PWR connectors : https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-970/specifications

I actually hadn't noticed that Option ? I'll have to look again , however I have never really liked the way it "white's out" the Window in views ... it's "un-natural" looking. Have you tried getting a bit more out of your 745 with MSI Afterburner or EVGA's Precision? (V5.) maybe even a modded Bios? I never had a 7 series card so not 100% sure on either , works well on the 900 Series though. M.

My old thread is also still there too , the One by WhisterBuilder is the latest I think though... it involves invisible wall layers to Offset the Railings.
-
I had noticed this myself ,especially if the Backdrop has alot of greenery or the Sunset type ones , but I found you need to have one , I can't use my standard just Off White that I usually use in Standard Camera Views as it just goes mid grey and blots out the light. M.

Yes custom Muntins came to my mind reading above too...there is a KB Article about doing those : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00930/creating-custom-muntins.html

Your welcome.... I usually see the casing issue Inside garage doors in Other's Plans as ITRW there is no casing on the inside of them usually, so people turn it off, but eliminating either casing causes the Jamb not to Build either even if it is enabled. LED Potlights are weatherproof so should work great out there for general lighting....something more decorative maybe nicer but not as easy perhaps M.
-
It is there I converted it to a Spot light and gave it the same settings as a Recessed Can light..... and moved it up to 116" but one light in there especially at 100% Sun Brightness is just lost I think. You cold add LED Potlights as part of the reno in there perhaps? Its always a good idea to add at least one light off the electrical menu , so Chief doesn't add it's own "Auto" light to every plan if you want to light it in a particular way , other wise you get the auto-light light in the centre of every Room. I also noticed you turned of the Doors exterior Casing...which makes the framing show as the Jamb ( red arrow) isn't built if there is no casing , so make the casing really small if needed like 1/8 ,1/8 and 0" reveal if needed. Noticed it on the garage doors too. Might be another x9 issue though if you don't see it ? M
-
still looking but just did and overview in x9 and lthis problem shows around back ...maybe a x9 issue? Sun is off in my Plan already....
-
Have you paid the Power bill ? let me look in X9

May help to put your Undo and Temp Folders on the Optane Drive too , I have mine on my 960 EVO NVME now instead of the Data Drive which helps abit too. I point X10 to the same Folders too. M.

Have you increased the default limit from 8 lights? it won't turn on if you already have more than that in the plan...in X10 I set it to 100. If you are still on x8 per your Sig.? 8 is the max lights and you will need to turn another one off 1st. Turn on the Show Light in Camera Views so you get the red and blue indicators which will help you decide which one you don't need... if it is the view above , turn the lights inside Off.... M.

If you haven't already done it move your Windows "Libraries" to your Data HDD , it is easy to do , I have been doing it since Win7 and have posted here on the Forums about doing it before , but if you can't find it , there are many good tutorials online , in particular on Ten Forums here : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/74952-documents-folder-move-location-windows-10-a.html at the bottom of the 1st post , see the Related tutorials on how to move Pics, Videos,Downloads etc Folders (libraries) too

Correct me if I am wrong Graham..... but Perry I think Graham's advice above is related to the number of lights actually turned on in his model ( ie recessed cans and light sources) not the default set which I suggested be set at 100 for PBR views , if you only have 12 or 22 or ? on there is no issue anyway , Graham regularly has models with 50-60 ACTIVE lights on.... or even more , 60 in the example above I believe.

None needed Graham...you more than do your share of helping others and running "experiments" and reporting back here for the Good of Us All. I think your PC takes DDR4? I know I don't have any of that in "storage" but may have some DDR3 but I am not 100% sure , though a full 8GB Chip, preferably exactly the same as the existing one, if you can find it, would allow the Ram to run in Dual Channel mode , which is a bit quicker and of course the extra 8GB will help with multiple TAB or Windows open, as Win10 is likely using 6GB already, I'm not sure from a look online if it will accept 32GB Ram (2x16GB) though. If you think a GTX 950 or 970 would help you PM me. M.

You may need to explain more what you are trying to do , not sure why Joe or Michael haven't answered but there are built in Macros you can insert into labels to get that info , but I am no expert on Ruby or Macros , but the more info you provide or a sample plan can only be a good thing... and what version of Chief you use too, more below...... It's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too See mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite which I don't think shows them?. M.

How do I now resize a view sent to layout in X10?
Kbird1 replied to adventhomes's topic in General Q & A
I guess I work like you Chopsaw , because I think they got it backwards as well , the new Mode should of been the ALT behaviour , so you could switch to it IF you wanted a weird Shaped Layout Box or wanted to change the Viewport , Hotkeys don't work for me well due to an old hand injury , so I have added the ALT , Resize and Default Behaviour Icons to my RH Toolbar , so I can switch as needed since I will never get used to right mouse dragging either , not as easy on a Finger Trackball ... still need to learn not to grab and drag , willy nilly , as I used too though. M. -
That's a pity it seemed like exactly what would be needed , would be nice to have a Toggle Icon though like Textures etc , I'd hate to have to Open the DBX every time to Update a view too. did you check your local Craigslist for VideoCards ? that's where I got mine.... M.
