  1. Yes custom Muntins came to my mind reading above too...there is a KB Article about doing those : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00930/creating-custom-muntins.html
  2. Your welcome.... I usually see the casing issue Inside garage doors in Other's Plans as ITRW there is no casing on the inside of them usually, so people turn it off, but eliminating either casing causes the Jamb not to Build either even if it is enabled. LED Potlights are weatherproof so should work great out there for general lighting....something more decorative maybe nicer but not as easy perhaps M.
  3. It is there I converted it to a Spot light and gave it the same settings as a Recessed Can light..... and moved it up to 116" but one light in there especially at 100% Sun Brightness is just lost I think. You cold add LED Potlights as part of the reno in there perhaps? Its always a good idea to add at least one light off the electrical menu , so Chief doesn't add it's own "Auto" light to every plan if you want to light it in a particular way , other wise you get the auto-light light in the centre of every Room. I also noticed you turned of the Doors exterior Casing...which makes the framing show as the Jamb ( red arrow) isn't built if there is no casing , so make the casing really small if needed like 1/8 ,1/8 and 0" reveal if needed. Noticed it on the garage doors too. Might be another x9 issue though if you don't see it ? M
  4. still looking but just did and overview in x9 and lthis problem shows around back ...maybe a x9 issue? Sun is off in my Plan already....
  5. Have you paid the Power bill ? let me look in X9
  6. May help to put your Undo and Temp Folders on the Optane Drive too , I have mine on my 960 EVO NVME now instead of the Data Drive which helps abit too. I point X10 to the same Folders too. M.
  7. Have you increased the default limit from 8 lights? it won't turn on if you already have more than that in the plan...in X10 I set it to 100. If you are still on x8 per your Sig.? 8 is the max lights and you will need to turn another one off 1st. Turn on the Show Light in Camera Views so you get the red and blue indicators which will help you decide which one you don't need... if it is the view above , turn the lights inside Off.... M.
  8. If you haven't already done it move your Windows "Libraries" to your Data HDD , it is easy to do , I have been doing it since Win7 and have posted here on the Forums about doing it before , but if you can't find it , there are many good tutorials online , in particular on Ten Forums here : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/74952-documents-folder-move-location-windows-10-a.html at the bottom of the 1st post , see the Related tutorials on how to move Pics, Videos,Downloads etc Folders (libraries) too
  9. Correct me if I am wrong Graham..... but Perry I think Graham's advice above is related to the number of lights actually turned on in his model ( ie recessed cans and light sources) not the default set which I suggested be set at 100 for PBR views , if you only have 12 or 22 or ? on there is no issue anyway , Graham regularly has models with 50-60 ACTIVE lights on.... or even more , 60 in the example above I believe.
  10. None needed Graham...you more than do your share of helping others and running "experiments" and reporting back here for the Good of Us All. I think your PC takes DDR4? I know I don't have any of that in "storage" but may have some DDR3 but I am not 100% sure , though a full 8GB Chip, preferably exactly the same as the existing one, if you can find it, would allow the Ram to run in Dual Channel mode , which is a bit quicker and of course the extra 8GB will help with multiple TAB or Windows open, as Win10 is likely using 6GB already, I'm not sure from a look online if it will accept 32GB Ram (2x16GB) though. If you think a GTX 950 or 970 would help you PM me. M.
  11. You may need to explain more what you are trying to do , not sure why Joe or Michael haven't answered but there are built in Macros you can insert into labels to get that info , but I am no expert on Ruby or Macros , but the more info you provide or a sample plan can only be a good thing... and what version of Chief you use too, more below...... It's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too See mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum or are perhaps on the CA Mobile WebSite which I don't think shows them?. M.
  12. I guess I work like you Chopsaw , because I think they got it backwards as well , the new Mode should of been the ALT behaviour , so you could switch to it IF you wanted a weird Shaped Layout Box or wanted to change the Viewport , Hotkeys don't work for me well due to an old hand injury , so I have added the ALT , Resize and Default Behaviour Icons to my RH Toolbar , so I can switch as needed since I will never get used to right mouse dragging either , not as easy on a Finger Trackball ... still need to learn not to grab and drag , willy nilly , as I used too though. M.
  13. That's a pity it seemed like exactly what would be needed , would be nice to have a Toggle Icon though like Textures etc , I'd hate to have to Open the DBX every time to Update a view too. did you check your local Craigslist for VideoCards ? that's where I got mine.... M.
  14. Do a Search on Fascia Mounted Deck Railings , it has been discussed a number of times..... it however, is still not automatic in X10, like the Surface Mounted Railings. ( Which are really Walls in Chief ).
  15. Graham , per No#1. have you disabled the Automatic Update of Lighting and seen if it helps ? or allows multiple Changes 1st? I just noticed this setting , as I was doing some playing with lights in a Bathroom plan...
  16. It is horrible for sure .....it's why I got a 2nd hand 980Ti last year $500CDN during a lull in the Pricing of even 2nd hand cards , some are trying to selling them for $800-900 now , even GTX970's are still going for $400 or more depending on the model. I got lucky with my 980Ti as EVGA's Warranty is done on the Serial Number , so I was covered even though I was the second Owner, it's one of the reasons I have bought their Cards for many Years.
  17. Thanks for doing this Scott , I'm going to watch it now.... Mick.
  18. What Kind of Ram does it take DDR3? or DDR4 ...... might be worth trying that 1st ? my sytsem uses about 6-7Gb when Chief is open with a few Tabs but my Videocard has 8GB ( was 6GB) too which may help. Might be better to bite the Bullet and go for something like these.... better value these days http://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/desktops/new-xps-tower-special-edition/spd/xps-8930-desktop/dxps8930se_f_h3e http://www.dell.com/en-ca/shop/cty/new-alienware-aurora/spd/alienware-aurora-r7-desktop/daar7_f_s10e
  19. Might have been quite sometime since you looked at Videocard Prices Perry , the CyptoCurrency Craze is back , 1060 are in the $5-600CDN range 1070s in the $700-800 as for 1080Ti they are going for $1200-1500, that's if you can even find one inStock this is for the 1070Ti i just received my my 980ti RMA http://www.nowinstock.net/ca/computers/videocards/nvidia/gtx1070ti/
  20. Thanks Graham for the "Report" good information as always ...... I suspect that as always your Lighting is far exceeding some of the Others who have posted, and that along with the GTX 745 maybe an issue...... did you figure out What card your Computer will take? My 1070ti just arrived from RMA , so I am still playing , but I'd be happy to try a Plan and a few saved cameras for you if you want me too? M.
  21. I think it's there in X9 to actually but I have never used it ... just remembered seeing it in X10 , but TBH Chief still deals with it badly and I am not sure there is a good workaround , I would repost this in Suggestions though. M.
  22. In this case I think it is just the location of your Camera , you need to put the Section Line ( back red handle ) over the centre-line of the Rail , so the dims will snap to the section lines and then ignore the warning ( click ok ) about snapping to them and point markers being added. ** watch the reach distance on the Dimension, (24" default) as if you go to low , it may also measure the Deck Boards. M.
  23. The Swings from Center Option is there , unfortunately Chief does not build the Door Correctly in 3D ie the door is hinged to nothing You can turn the Casing off in this case and make the Interior Trim ( includes Jamb) Drywall and set the Jamb to 1/2" and Fit Jamb to Wall. seems to work for me ( not 100% convincing) but maybe I didn't pick up on everything you are trying to show...? I'm in X10 if it makes a difference... Plan View isn't great though....
  24. Or via the Active Camera Icon in any 3D View as Backdrops and some other settings have been moved into the Camera DBX now.
