SketchUp has a Free CheckUp tool , it may give you more information about whether your VideoCard is okay or not for Chief too. https://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000318

It's not a Bug , it a new Feature , so to turn it off for all Doors including Doorways .......Open that Doorway and under Options, select Hide Top Edge. Select Automatic to display wall surface lines only when the selected door is a Doorway. • Select Show Top Edge to display wall surface lines regardless of the door type. • Select Hide Top Edge to not show wall surface lines regardless of door type.

Strange it would seem my Forums Emails stopped this morning sometime , there are 4-5 replies in this thread alone I wasn't notified about.... Per the above have you asked the Countertop Fabricator if they can Router out the lip around the Sink hole , so the exposed edge is only 3/4 ? would seem do-able to me. To say the Documentation on PBR is Sparse is a understatement , a big one...there is not a single Reference to Physical Based Rendering in the Reference Manual , nothing in the online Knowledge Base and Still only one Video , which I suspect use Our settings from the Forum PS. EVGA offers extended warranties for the 1st 90 Days Graham $20 I think to extend it to 5yrs , $30 for 10yrs. Their Video Cards used to come with a lifetime Warranty , which was why I initally bought them years ago. I don't think the StepUp Program will be much use to you , since you said the 1060 is the most your computer can handle.

Told you your Clients were better ...mine would only get a Malbec The Glass looks great , but the Bottle seems to be a red material that isn't giving the same look as the glass was all I meant . Never been a Fan of the Ogee Counter Edge myself , and you are right it can look bad if the joint isn't done well and is really thin. It's one of the Reasons I like 1 1/4" / 3cm Quartz these days. M.

Looks good , the wine glass filled does work .... can the Bottle not be a little more transparent or translucent? How about a simple Eased edge on the Countertop instead of that lambs tongue or Ogee moulding , the Detail is lost in the pattern of the Marble it seems but maybe just the camera angle?. M.

I have to agree , there seems to be no correlation between real life metrics and the CA Library Items which is what everyone expects... ( and needs ) it feels more like there was a Time crunch and it was easy just to replicate the symbols one after another with all settings the same except with the Diameter changed eg 4" 6" etc.... PS I was referring to you 4" potlight from the Core Library being corrupt possibly? mine is 1200 lumens by default. The one I had trouble with were saved in my User library and maybe even be from X7 or earlier M.

@Douglas49 Its a deep program and you can just gloss the surface I guess but there always seems like there is something new to learn , the Forums are invaluable in my experience, especially after a New Release like X10. There is a Series of Vids on CAD Work as a Primer..... Focus: CAD 1 , 2 and 3 ( videos 9904,9905 and 9906) and probably 20 Others I am still working on myself ..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/97/17-cad-tools.html

Good timing Graham , I read this morning EVGA and other Manufacturers put their Cards like the 1080 up another $50US , 1080ti Hybrid was $869 and is now $909US. Unfortunately DDR4 has almost doubled in Price in the last year too.... as I think 16GB is about the lower limit nowadays, happy my last build was two years ago cos I thought prices were crazy then, today is a whole other story. There is something wrong with your default 4" mini-can as mine is 1200 lumens same as the 6" , seems they are ALL defaulted to 1200 which is still 12x too much . Perhaps reset you Electrical defaults and Choose the one in the Library again ? or one you have re-copied to your User Library. I also found that old recessed cans I had in my User Library don't seem to work correctly , especially if placed on a Vaulted Ceiling. So you are Using Point lights again ? ie the reverse of Ray Tracing in X9 ? Not sure where the 175° spread came from either it's more like 95° ITRW M.

Yes I am a bit surprised , that they have not updated all the basic materials at least ( ie 3x6 standard cabinet backsplash) , since they obviously knew PBR was coming a year ago... Thanks , I have the Pendant now , I have found that Kohler's Polished Chrome Material worked well too in PBR , in the Bathroom I just did. M.

I would suspect it is the OpenGl support which needs version 3.3 in X9 but only version 2 in X8 . TechpowerUp says it supports OPGL 3.3 but ??? , I did read that Driver version 11.2 help OpenGL sometimes on the 4000 series cards. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02761/chief-architect-minimum-system-requirements.html latest ATI Driver...from 2013 https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows+8+-+64

you're welcome . Melissa got a response from TS , she shared this morning on Ray Tracing here , but basically they say to make materials either more than 50% roughness or less depending on what you want to happen with reflections Basically in the latest build of Chief Architect (20.1.0.43) if the roughness of a material is under 50% you will get reflections which slow down the ray trace and cause more speckling. Materials that you don't need to have perfect reflections on you could modify to have a roughness over 50% which will speed up the ray traces. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16990-ray-trace-in-v9-vs-v10/?do=findComment&comment=145083

OOPS not so fast(almost solved w Update 20.2.0.51) X10 with an Intel card
Kbird1 replied to MarkMc's topic in General Q & A
good news ! Make sure to disable Hardware/Driver Updates or Windows 10 will "update" you to the current latest again , has been (was) happening to me going back to 382.05 Nvidia Driver too , tomorrow is Microsoft update day too I think ( 1st or 2nd tues every month ) . more info in the Nvidia 388 Thread all you need to do is run a .reg file though. M. -
I had to redo my Calibrations last week too after the new card arrived , but that was expected , I was pretty sure you'd see a marked difference with a 9 or 10 series Nvidia Card though. I usually use the Cube , as I am not usually RTing or PBRing curved surfaces that much as I don't tend to "accessorize" my Renos unless my Client really needs to be "sold" on something. M.

There is only one longer CA Video on PBR , as far as I am aware ? which basically says the same as this thread does , ie 100 Auto lights etc. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/2426/physically-based-rendering-technique.html Graham is the Source of most of the Imformation we have and then playing around , but PBR tends to "colour" the light if the background is too strong , eg too much greenery ( greenish tinge) or Sunsets ( orangey) etc RT no longer has good Reflective Properties for the materials , they changed all the materials for PBR , Graham started another thread on that in the Chatroom about a month ago. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16427-x10-beta-reflective-material-definition-missing/ *** Oh and make sure to run the Library Catalog Update a few time a week they are constantly Updating Materials in an attempt to catch up with PBR Materials definitions too. I may not understand the bow on the back you want , cos if you made the cabinet 3/4 deep you 'd have no room for the convex curve , it is why Imade my cabinet 9" with the -7 bow which leaves 2" depth at the center of the cabinet. M.
