  1. I don't think so ...go ahead I will +1 your suggestion happily.... M.
  2. Ouch 1 pass in 15 mins? I have not used RT much in X10 as I think I finally have PBR working and it is giving me great Renders , in much less time , are the RT quality , no but then my Clients don't know that , but the last Client loved them , so that Kitchen Reno is a go M.
  3. Hi Nauti , you have done it again , I could read your Docx file just fine...the issue is you are posting your Serial Number on the internet for anyone to use , which is why I said to delete the Docx file from your other Posts, (not the Posts) The PDF below also contains your serial no#, delete the PDF and just paste the Text from Word , without the Serial No# into your 1st post instead. Your Serial No# is not need here, this is the CA User Forums , only CA Support would need that information. Deleting your other two posts also deleted my answer and other help so I hope you got that in the notification email ? Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  4. See above post too , I forgot to quote it , so you get notified , but what settings do you use for your walkthroughs ? 30 FPS for 60secs =1800 frames ? PBR Mode ? didn't time the 1st run at 24 FPS x 30 secs as I thought I'd get a time like in Ray Traces.... but GPU is used heavily watching graph in GPUZ for GPU Load , anywhere from 22%-100% , My 6 core CPU is working but no 100% loads there , more like 15-30% ATM, running the above 60 sec. Clip but I suspect if you use those No#s above it will be 20 mins, though I haven't optimizied lighting or anything in this Plan as yet. M.
  5. The last update was to address some graphical issues only , the one before that was the Official Release on Feb 15th of X10. They are also working on the next patch see here : scroll up for the PDF in the OP
  6. I don't really do Walkthroughs, so I can't really give you a good qualified answer to that, as I am not sure if the encoding of the Video is done by GPU or CPU? but since it has to render 3D I am sure the GPU is involved heavily ...... Let me run one and see..... @TheKitchenAbode Graham just bought the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC Gaming ACX 6GB (06G-P4-6163-KR) and it pretty happy by all accounts.... he may have more info for you. this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IPVSLTC/ref=ox_sc_mini_detail?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A33TB6JVOMNYYJ
  7. Usually I'd suggest Zipping the File but at 75 mb I'm not sure that would be enough...you are talking about just the .plan file correct? not an Entire Plan Backup? which isn't need in this case. You could also do a "Save As" to a xxxx.striplight.plan and delete things like Furniture, appliances, cabinets etc until you are under the limit. or make a public link on OneDrive, GoogleDrive or Dropbox M.
  8. I think this might cover it ......explore the DBX's Tabs and try things...
  9. There is a Cabinet Puck light that shines Up and you should also be able to set a light to "Spot" and the Tilt Angle to 90° (-90° is straight down) you may need to Offset the light from the Base too if it is truly "in the Box" to get the light to start outside the box. Other wise post the .plan file as Rene said , so someone can look and help...Plan needs to be closed in Chief to do that as it lock the file while in Use. M.
  10. Looks like you may have a wrong wall setting on the short wall , (roof plane lines are messed up) and I see no overhangs on the left hand side of the house? maybe rebuilt with every default on , especially the Roof Directives in the Wall DBXs ( dialog Boxes.) Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in please, especially with the Software Version, and of course a Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. If you are using a Home Designer Product they have their own Forum , you have found the forum for the Chief Architect branded products. Home Designer users have their own forum, HomeTalk, where you will find suggestions based on your software, over here : https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ M.
  11. I ran a BenchMark for some Comparsion Vinnie out of interest , have a look in JBHammer's other thread...
  12. Yep the GTX 970 still a good card especially if not running in high resolution as it came with 4GB Ram. You would need to go 2nd hand for that now though. Out of interest I downloaded the FFXV Video Benchmark , my new 1070Ti is running just over 10,000 Points, which is about the same as a GTX1080, and about 1000 pts better than the 980Ti I had.... ( lost to RMA ). While the 6GB 1060 is 6400 , GTX 970 6021, the 3GB 1060 is just a bit slower at 5900pts, ( so very similar to 970 , though I have read the 3GB version can be an issue , though that was in games at High Res. eg 4k where the 970 beats it easily ) the GTX 950 is about 3250 pts. In comparison the Radeon 7700 is 1500 pts ( 7570 isn't listed ) and the newer Radeon RX 550 2074 pts, Radeon 5800 & 6800 are both about 1100 pts. Here is my Chart if you are interested , ( give it a second to load then scroll down, my score is in RED about 1/2 down in the 1920 x 1080 Standard section , if you want to see comparisons to other Cards or at Other Resolutions there are many there. http://benchmark.finalfantasyxv.com/result/?i=15987978495aadd6af3ed92&Resolution=1920x1080&Quality=Middle M.
  13. After you hit Build new Floor>etc........ Minimize Suite and see if the Dialog Box (DBX) is hiding behind the Main Window , which can happen if you click the main window making it the "Focus" for Windows. You can also check the taskbar and see if there is a second Icon (which maybe Flashing)
  14. Maybe we need to read between the lines hmmmmm
  15. @WendyatArtform Wendy has a great set of Videos on getting Started with annosets , in fact I think two sets , and a posted Plan which She starts with probably some duplication here but : Couple on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTRMw_Q0w0IGc-1qlCHMIzg and on Zing http://www.screencast.com/t/vicroy80XHQ Plus
  16. Using Solid reversible Walls does work , if a bit of a Hassle , basically you have to turn the Whole House "Inside out" after it is drawn, and then install the Doors and Windows into non- reversed Walls, this causes issues on Gable ends but is easily fixed....but too much time is taken for what should work OOB I think....so I think CA needs to deal with this properly. M. Have a play with this Plan..... Solid Brick Walls_Reversed Plan.plan
  17. I remember a Post by Michael @Alaskan_Son about doing that with Wood Grains , perhaps in the Tip Forum? but I don't remember if it was Solids or What? he may have some ideas ont he above issues too....lets see M.
  18. Using the Wall Cut Tool and Assigning two different Wall Thicknesses , works for me, at least in a quick test Plan.... but only if we use a standard Nth.American Type Wall it seems. trying with a 12" thick and 6 inch Brick wall doesn't , so the Wall definition may have something to do with it for sure.... need to play some more perhaps... but it maybe a Bug and one Idaho doesn't test for ? Maybe the Reverse Wall Trick may work for this too? M.
  19. Okay now I see that angled Block , it is not in the Plan I have.... Look at my pics again, if you adjust the wall definition the Soffit will carry to the Beams.... but it may effect other things in your model? so I'd advise looking into it early in the design as it may make a difference in how you "build" the rest of the model as it will shift the walls outwards. BTW Chief has crashed 4 times this morning while playing with your plan and those Trusses...not sure if it is linked yet but I've had no issues till this Plan , not even the Beta. Mick.
  20. So the Beam is setback 2-3" from the edge of the Brickwork ? Centered on the Wall below? how it it weather protected? , or maybe it isn't? just the overhang so no water up there? Soffit Builds back to the Main Wall Layer normally or perhaps the Wall Sheathing now? I think there was some Changes in X9 or X10 but CA treats Brick Walls differently , usually the Outer Layer of Brick is the Main Layer , (so Brick Walls will Align Properly with Foundations etc I think ) so we can use that to Our advantage and make your Outer Brick in two layers , And outer 2" Layer say? , and an Inner 1 5/8 Layer ( depth would be based on Beam Placement) and Push the outer 2" Layer to the Exterior Layer in the Wall Definition . However, not having experimented Further I am not sure What Else it mucks up if anything doing that, and you need to move and re-Align the two (Ceiling) Beams.
  21. It does it for Autosaves in the Archive Folder... I have it set for Hourly and AutoSave set for 5 mins in case there is a Crash too, but I am also saving as I work , hitting the Save Icon every now and then or when I stop for a Break ( Forum Read ).
  22. I remember now after Looking thru the Library that my T&G started out as the Clopay Garage Door T&G --- Fir Paints the best by the way , but here is my T&G Soffit Collection... MHD_Tongue and Groove_X10.calibz
  23. I Cut the hole through the Wall to see the Soffit with the Wall Layer Tool , , try turn that Layer back on so you can see the "Tool" ...... a Toaster and delete it , see if that is the Issue. I made some T&G Symbols a While Back and also have Seafield's Square Groove T&G Texture he posted a few weeks back and a White 2x6 White Decking , I have used for many years which was a CA Deck Material, possibly originally? ... I'll bundle them Up and post them here , since apparently you can't get them out of the Plan like I though you'd be able too. The Issue with the Roof Plane not touching the Truss is simply the location of the Truss and due to your Wall Type/Beams causing the Roof Plane Base Line to build in the Wrong Place. Is this how it is actually Built? Are the Beams not Flush to the Outer Brick line? The Base Line can be moved in or out and Up or Down easily but 1st you need an Accurate Wall and Beam Layout, before you start moving things around. Maybe good to do a read of the Help File on (Roof) Baseline and how it works.... the Default Location...... The Baseline The pitch direction and initial height of any roof plane - manual or automatic - is determined by its Baseline. The Baseline of the roof plane is normally located over the outer main layer of the wall and is used as the pivot point for the roof plane when the pitch is changed. The Baseline height is determined by the following formula: Elevation of the wall top plate + Vertical Structure Depth - Vertical Birdsmouth Depth = Baseline Height In a cross section, the Baseline is located directly above the outer surface of the main wall layer, at the top surface of the roof framing. A roof Baseline displays as a separate line within its roof plane when the “Roofs, Baselines” layer is turned on. In 3D views, it can only be seen if the roof plane is selected.
  24. Nice Write Up Mark ..... More Of Mark's Laptops Posts for Others in this Thread over in the Chatroom.... P.S. Joey perhaps you could change your Thread Title to include Laptop Advice , ot the Tags , so Others find it in the Future...just Edit the OP to do that.
  25. Do you mean I missed the Setting or is this a Suggestion for CA ? I agree if it is a Suggestion.. *** Got it
