  1. Yes , that is what I was saying , you don't need to do that if doing it this way..... everything is left at Defaults which is much easier to deal with, I found if I changed Floor 1 , then tried adding a floor (or 3) thing soon got very complicated, but perhaps I had it set up wrong ? so I tried it this way and it seems to work but others should have a play with it , and see if it is indeed a viable method. M.
  2. Why would you need to adjust "everything" ? maybe I am missing something? I was just playing around with this and it is a big mess if you try adjusting things as you start a plan it seems, ie adding a 2nd floor caused it to drop inside the 1st floor etc as it still referenced the Old Heights unless I manually worked out the new absolute heights. I found it is much easier to do the Section and Storey Pole AFTER the drawing is complete , at least that way works for me in a test plan , and you don't need to play with the Terrain height or Level 1 height as essentially you are only changing the Storey pole reference point , not the Level 1 height which is how I think Glenn does it ? I added the Finish Grade Marker manually by clicking on the Outer Dimension Line and dragging the Triangle down to the Terrain (dirt) and then adding the Text via the Dimension segment in the DBX. Maybe I am missing something? and this doesn't work on a Real World Plan ??? but have a look at the attached Plan , I made Notes for myself for future reference as I played in the saved Section View , but if a Client moved the house 2' higher it would be simple enough to change the default heights used eg 700' in my test plan to 702' and the Storey Pole should adjust accordingly with no need to touch anything else. 3. Sounds like you may have the Grid Snapping still on , even though you have all the other Snaps Off ....... if the Tape Measure Tool does the same thing , then that is the Issue , if you hold the CTRL Key you can temporarily disable the Snapping Grid till you let CTRL go , you can also toggle it on/off via the Icon on the RH side toolbar or use the hot key CTRL-F9 to toggle it too Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  4. FYI ...another followup on using IMDisk , ( see post above too) for me a 2nd issue has arisen , IMdisk was stopping Windows Update from Working , I suspect something do do with the Windows Temp File/Folder , but once the Ram Disk was unmounted and IMDisk uninstalled the Win10 Updates installed as normal again. seems to be an issue for others as well https://sourceforge.net/p/imdisk-toolkit/tickets/9/
  5. Thanks for recording it Scott , I definitely have a look ... M.
  6. That's great news for everyone then , I knew he was considering your license. Don't forget to add a Sold to your X10 Post Title then....
  7. His Website is gone Chopsaw.... so I assumed the email maybe too ...so he may not get notifications anyway ?
  8. Quote him Centexbs or he won't get a email notification of your Post. Or send him a Private Message. though you may no longer need this if moving to X10? M.

There is no attached .plan file , make sure the plan is closed in CA when you attach it to the Reply Window or it won't attached. If you aren't using the Cabinet Tools to make your Furniture pieces , and want separate Components, it maybe still best to use a Cabinet Partition and resize it rather than a Box Shape , as you should then be able to Use the Cabinet Schedule to list Parts. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  10. Have a look at the KB Articles on Split Levels Rob , they should help I'd think..... https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-02947/creating-a-split-level-structure.html https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00269/creating-a-split-level-entry.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00932/creating-a-split-level-structure.html couple of videos too : https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/9917/ https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/322/ https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/323/
  11. Thanks for the Heads Up Dermont , good to know as this seems to be something that comes up on the Forums fairly regularly , but it is a bit more complicated that most of us realized I think since the Viewer is a 120mb download.... M.
  12. If the X8 Viewer was made available Free to Download Originally why is it still not available for Download ? seems like a simple Customer Support option to me for these types of Issues. M.
  13. I won't be able to make it Scott , so please Record it if at all possible thanks. Mick.
  14. I would be suspicious of anyone selling X8 on Youtube , try the Offering Forum here on CT instead , there are several people selling X9 and X10 license too , just take care to check the upgrade Price and the transfer fees as you should get a deal or just buy x10 direct , if buying second hand you can check with CA to make sure it is legit and transferable to you too. If buying x10 direct I would ask Sales if they would convert your Files for you as part of the Sale..... this price is not really valid anymore since the upgrade now would be $1295 I think.... but you get the idea...
  15. Could well be, I had not considered the Nodes an Issue as such , so I will have to have a play with those and see if that is it......I just want my old complete cut tool back thanks for the Tip.... M.
  16. That is the tool I seem to have Issues with the most , not sure why , it seemed to work much better for me before they changed it to that , perhaps I need to go through the Manual again and it's just I am not using it properly now. M.
  17. Not sure what type of Object you mean by Polygon but usually if the Line Break tool doesn't show , then it is not a line based Item , since the Edit Toolbar is sensitive to this and only shows the available options for the Item type selected. That being said the changes in the Line Break Tool , ie. no double click for complete cut now, I think have made the Tool more difficult to use , and like David I find sometime I have to try and try again sometimes , until it works. M.
  18. I think I remember reports in Beta about the Odd Attic Walls showing in PBR too , so please make sure you report this , especially if it is reproducible , hopefully they haven't "broken" something again in one of the recent fixes (updates) M.
  19. FYI .... I'm running at 125% , size 26 Icons and the left hand side of the drop down list always lines up with the left hand side of whatever Icon I click on , so what you are seeing is rather odd behavior , I am on Win 10 though which may handle scaling better? Using a 32" monitor at 2560 x 1440.
  20. Just a heads up Ted , CA Mirrors / reflections don't work if there are too many mirrors , ie. you can't reflect a Mirror in a Mirror , One will go grey in those cases. M.
  21. Isn't the default for the Object type (CAD Line Work) in this case CAD, Roof as specified by the Annoset/Layerset ? I often wonder why the Default Box is not checked in these cases , when I open the DBX or does Default ALWAYS refer to CA's Default ? (whatever it is?) not what we have setup. M.
  22. If you "Enjoy" the Drawing Process you could consider Renting HD Pro for $49 month ( pay 12mths it's yours I think ) or even Renting Chief Premier @ $199 Month , or even upgrading to Pro which has many of the Features of Premier , at least as far as Roofs go, it's a bit limited when it come to producing ConDocs though as it only allows 1 page AFAIK. M.
  23. I'll have to try again , in a fresh Plan perhaps, as that was what I tried but I couldn't get Grade to be 9' like in your Image , I may have missed one of Scott's settings though. Thanks for the Tip M.
  24. I'd like to know more on how you did that Glenn if you have the time, even if Scott is now happy apparently. Thanks. M.
  25. Just a Note on Using Ram Drives with CA , I set one up last week as a Test after reading this thread, but they will stop the Library Update working properly , as evidenced by my self and Roland who found the Issue here : (***switching the Temp drive back to a HDD for the Update works to fix this)
