  1. Are they all joined properly?
  2. In another post he mentioned he was modelling an old existing building I think ... not this one
  3. Bottom plates are turned off in the build wall framing dbx , so they are there , and I don't see rim joists either , not sure if that is accurate or a mistake though. Looks like you moved the 2nd floor top plates up instead of copying them in place and then moving the copy up ? so make a copy and pull the top plate back into place... Many of the top floor ceiling joists are doubled up but I am not sure if that is accurate , though the secondary ones don't reach the outer Walls. You can use the General Framing Tool to make many Custom Framing members Or You can use a CAD detail to make Framing Members and then place them back into plan and elevations views to turn them into Solids and manipulate them further , have a look at this Video of a Custom Trellis build where they use this method to make the trellis parts , the framing part starts about minute 12.00. https://youtu.be/tONcWPb8Mxs Edit....forgot pics.....
  4. I normally Auto Build and let it get as close as it can then uncheck Autobuild and fix anything manually I need too , these two Videos may help you , learning the Roof Join Tool is imperative to Manual roof planes as it greatly enhances you speed.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/25/drawing-roofs-manually.html?playlist=95 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/724/joining-roof-planes.html?playlist=95 two others that will help at time too... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/728/locating-roof-plane-intersections.html?playlist=95 https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/706/roof-baseline-polylines.html?playlist=95 one to practice with... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/726/manually-roofing-an-l-shaped-house-with-gable-ends.html?playlist=95
  5. I think if you set black and White to Greyscale instead , then you can use different colours which will print as different shades of Grey instead , at least I think this is how some of the other Forum User like Perry and Joey Martin do it , hopefully they will see this and give you more in-depth advice.... M. @joey_martin @PerryPlansPro
  6. do you mean the Pattern file for Vector Views? CADHatch has a Free Excel file you can download to make many standard Pattern Files as well as some textures etc. http://www.cadhatch.com/hatch-pattern-generator/4588167700 http://www.cadhatch.com/seamless-textures/4588167680 If you mean Standard View or PBR then the Texture must be Brick Patterned (a seamless texture). 7. If it is usually on a 2nd monitor you can try the Reset Side Windows in Preferences to bring it up within the Program Window again.... Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  8. Interesting Gene , I had not seen those before but I do have a Shipping Container Symbol from here somewhere so try this one or alter the Original that's included too. M. MHD_Shipping Container and SC Pool.calibz
  9. Nice Robert..... I have not come across the "Special Polyline" before....
  10. I find it is often just the viwing angle causing it , rotate the model 10-15° and they are gone ....but not always.... In Active Layer Display Options (ALDO) , i usually have it enable and on a 2nd monitor so I can easily click layers on and off or lock them etc. You haven't done your signature , so no idea what version you have , so I can't tell you how to access it.... I also found it older versions this effect was worse if I started with an Orthographic camera compared to a Perspective Camera M.
  11. True , I wasn't sure from the Post whether he meant a Floor Camera or a Perspective floor Camera as he mentioned Perspective Full Camera as well.....
  12. Happy to help if I can just remember in CA you are really drawing 3D objects all the time even in the 2D plan View so it is best to keep thinks like they are to be built ie walls with Framing and stucco or siding and drywall etc otherwise strange things can happen. Mick.
  13. In that particular bathroom I used a tray and a Tiled Curb but that isn't necessary if you have a Concrete Slab floor and want a "Barrier Free" shower. by Solid I mean a Polyline Solid (PSolid)..... it is the Far right hand icon on the top toolbar usually ...grey and blue with a P above it...default material is Concrete but it can be changed to anything eg Glass or Tile here's a quick plan with a few bits and pieces to see what I mean.... Shower For Helene.plan
  14. More or less what I do..... worth 3 mins to watch..... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/1920/productivity-tips-storing-wall-types.html
  15. from the PDF it looks like a Clerestory type Roof , there is a Article (tutorial) in the KB (Knowledge base) on how to do that... it's also a good place to start if new to CA if you have questions.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00955/creating-a-clerestory-style-roof.html
  16. - I just found the same thing as CS ...the Wall definition is at fault ....the walls are a single layer of "Colour" I'd suggest not changing the Default CA Walls , Copy the one closet to what you want , then rename it and make the changes you want. - the ceiling finish is also 11 1/2" thick white paint ??? and you have no Framing or Drywall defined for the ceiling structure You also started the drawing on the 2nd level not level 1 and have an extra storey (level3) you can fix that by moving floor 2 down using exchange with floor below and deleting level 2 in the Build Floor Menu. you should only have level 1 and A ( attic) and a foundation (0) when you build one. M.
  17. You may also what to do some searching on Google for Nvidia Optimus as I think the Surfacebooks use it and I have read it has some issues at times switching over etc... https://www.google.com/search?q=surface+book+nvidia+optimus&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-ab eg: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/intel-nvidia-laptop-freeze-problem/93e7004a-62b1-4211-8e37-4c136608865e?auth=1&page=97 https://www.windowscentral.com/how-force-your-surface-book-use-its-dedicated-gpu-games
  18. Thanks Doug , always good to see how others do things...... M.
  19. Problems like that are why I generally use Solids for the Curbs and make Glass Doors and Panels out of Solids or Soffits ( cabinet menu ) I also use Material Regions for the Tile with it set not to cut the parent layer so you get the real thickness shown. Set a material region 1/16th" thicker than the main one if you want to have a feature Band ...pic below in another post..... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/19010-creating-a-shower-curb-with-soffits/?do=findComment&comment=156340
  20. I usually make a Copy and change the Name ie add -Nominal in this case ....and before backing out all the Way Out save it to my User Library too for future use.
  21. It would be rare if the Siding Material (3/4"?) did not overlap the Brick Foundation , as you want a drip for rain etc... not a Joint at that point . CA will show it as flush in cross-section, but ITRW we would hang the Siding down 1.5-2" You shouldn't need too move framing manually.... I did notice in 7-30 you have bottom wall plates turned off , and only 1 top plate which is uncommon unless it is 4x4? See an updated plan below with the wall definitions and a Nominal wall Type made and Material for it setup..... See above ...done for you... Pedro Template_Nominal Framing.plan
  22. possibly this setting if you have it in HDA 2018?
  23. My B&B Library Uses "Framing Type" Materials , so has many of those advantages give it a try too... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/16852-board-and-batten-library/
  24. Open the png with Paint and save as .jpg instead may work if the exported library doesn't work? . You can unzip the exported library above with 7Zip or Winzip, a .calibz is just a zip file really and get the texture out that way too and put it wherever you need it. M.
  25. Good catch CS , the Exterior and Interior Wall Defaults are set to retain framing so all walls in the plan are set this way and thus no wall framing is build as it was set when there was none ....when the Wall was drawn.... Marquee Slect will help you reverse that easily too. I had assumed after seeing Use Wall Framing Material was unchecked that an attempt to make one's own Framing material had been made and it wasn't set to a Framing Type.....learned that one myself making my Spruce (SPF) Framing Library.
