Hmmmm interesting info...... I made my own Alum. fascia mounted Newel Post (with mounting plate) and have been playing with it ...has anyone found a way to get two posts on a Corner yet ? typical of Alum. Rails ...or any rail if fascia mounted...

Looks like that works nicely Chopsaw , I guess if you offset the 2x4 block the spacing doesn't work? I ask as the "block" shows in Vector view..... Steve, CS has a stretch plane on the Z axis at 31" and it seems to adjust to any height I've tried ( check his symbol above) M.

Chief tends to import material at a set size eg 6" x 6" image or 20" x 20" ( check the Materials's texture Tab ) and make the size what you know it to be in the Image file used....... You may also have issues if you are not using seamless textures with the "repeat" especially in Fabrics , so you would need to be careful making those material's seamless textures. M.

How to change stucco/ shake color without losing texture
Kbird1 replied to BigKahuna's topic in General Q & A
You maybe able to get close by blending the Texture Colour with the Material Colour on the General Tab of the Stucco Material but I don't think you can use the SW Colour that way? But doesn't Painting the wall , keep the Texture ? ( painting exterior Walls is generally not recommended but maybe the only way in this case...) *** painting it does work..... M. -

Like CS , i would suspect a Electrical Schedule is in a CAD Detail too or on a Level you haven't looked on in Plan, since this usually (only?) happens if two schedules are reporting the Callouts do you have one perhaps in your Template Plan in a CAD Detail so it is always there

Yes nobody on HT will see your Question here and the procedure is Different in HD Pro than Chief Premier but there is a Tutorial for Pro too https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00752/creating-a-structure-that-is-built-on-piers.html Same Password over on HT , just add the HD 2019 to your Sig. so people know what you are using ...it's important as each version of HD has different capabilities and that effects how you can do things , though Pro has alot of Premier feature so some Premier Tutorials will help you. What is Best Practice for sending full set to Structural Engineer
Kbird1 replied to deesee's topic in General Q & A
Ahhh .... okay that would explain it..... X5 was the earliest Version I saw , HD Pro before that which doesn't have layersets .... Thanks for the Layerset download , appreciate it. Might be a good one to Add to the Tips Forum David , so it doesn't get lost in this Thread... M. -
There is a Tutorial in the KB about doing Elevated Structures , that maybe a good point to start at at least.... *** the Tutorial was done in 2015 (so not in X10) and a few things have changed eg Floor1 defaults is now under Floors and Rooms>Current Floor and Normal Room Defaults is now just Floor and Ceiling Platform*** I am not familiar with detailing breakaway walls etc as we do not do it here , have a look at this Tutorial : (use the Tools Dropdown (green) on the right if you prefer a PDF) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01027/creating-an-elevated-structure-on-pilings.html Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too .............. See mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on by going to the Upper RH Corner of this Forum Window and Clicking on your Username and making sure Signature are enabled (green) and then Add your Own Sig. too : UserName> Account > Signatures M.

What is Best Practice for sending full set to Structural Engineer
Kbird1 replied to deesee's topic in General Q & A
I am not familiar with that. I am not either , and don't think I have ever seen it , maybe one you made years ago David ? M. -
Is it the Tutorial Guide you are working through? or a specific Tutorial in the KB ? (Knowledge Base) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/documentation.html

Wall tie-in not displaying properly in elevations
Kbird1 replied to ACADuser's topic in General Q & A
It's likely the Order things are done in , like me un-checking the Hang on wall button 1st , now it won't correct if don't do that too Just Another Chief Architect Mystery (JACAM) -
Yes but you can/did draw foundation walls manually under it .... On the Structure Tab make sure to uncheck monolithic slab foundation or the section view will look ugly... Auto Porch foundations were an upgrade in X10 but I am not sure they work in all circumstances?

If the Room is labelled as a Porch I get the siding still on the edge of the Floor , if it is labelled a Patio I don't note: CA always brings the siding down to the bottom of the Floor platform ...whatever it is.... not sure if a "Patio" causes other issues though....

Wall tie-in not displaying properly in elevations
Kbird1 replied to ACADuser's topic in General Q & A
the Electrical ( lights/Fans) snap to the Ceiling (0" offset) and in this case I think your Manual Roof Plane has overridden the Room Ceiling Heights , do the wall go up to the Roof Plane? they don't appear to in the plan/camera view I took must be the Order I did it I guess cos Balloon Framing with Hang on Wall... still enabled didn't fix it for me... -
Turn on the reference layer (F9) and drag the staircase in till it snaps to the red line shown for the foundation wall..... If you have 2 storeys? ....you will need to switch the reference line for the 1st floor to the foundation 1st....

See my sig or my 1st post above for instructions

The opening height is controlled by the Railing Height on the Newel Tab

Looks like you found your 1st Bug ! make sure to report it please so it gets fixed..... and don't forget to fill in your Sig. Please. M.

Wall tie-in not displaying properly in elevations
Kbird1 replied to ACADuser's topic in General Q & A
It looked like a Floor structure/roof plane issue to me , so I unchecked Hang floor platform above on wall and it fixed it The Balloon Framing option only works if the above is unchecked ( as in Roberts pic ) , it doesn't fix it on it's own for me.. . unchecked on the Main wall BTW : looks like you may have some lost Electrical , looking inside the Roof Plane ..... I thought maybe there was a beam in that Corner , so pushed the camera through the wall an saw.... -
Is that a Pony Wall around the Porch? perhaps that is the Issue ...change the wall type to test it ... M.
-
Try deleting the stairs and draw new holding the alt key from inside the porch to out ..... perhaps post you plan file ( attach it while plan is closed in Chief ) Which tutorial exactly are you using? M.
-
Are you sure the Stairs snapped to the the edge of the floor ? cos if the wall is marked as a Railing it should work.... M.
