  1. you may need to create a layout sheet in the size you want.... https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00737/creating-and-using-layout-templates.html
  2. Hi Glenn , I didn't understand the 4:12 pitch comment either ( HOA ,City,Owner?), but at 4:12 you would lose the Windows , so I just tried what I thought would work, doing a Cross Section through the Verandah / Windows may help too , but an accurate As-Built would be a must , and the Drawings are different from the Photos. If the Windows were changed out to 12"-16" high versions to still allow light / Air flow 4 :12 will work by the look of it.... see green CAD Line below M.
  3. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/3d-library/index.php?r=site/library&reset=true Filter by Version and Catalog type at the top, eg Manufacturer or Bonus ( Non-Manuf.) it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. M.
  4. Hi Newell , looking at the Photos I don't think your floor plan is 100% accurate , my (rough) guess it the Curved wall radius is about 12' as there is a straight section either side of the curve both in the existing Verandah and in the upper Window curved wall where there is also a bump out on the left of about 16" ? The easiest way is to let CA auto build the House roof without any roof over the existing verandah and then turn off Auto Build and draw your own Roof plane in from the New Verandah Wall (beam) , it looks like 2.5 deg. works if you want to keep the upper windows using your plan foot print , which would mean you'd need Flat granulated Roofing Materials not Shingles on it. playing with the Depth and or height of the new Verandah may get you back to 3 deg. the minimum for most shingles. 5. try posting this in the Seek Services Forum too... there are some good Guys in the Area.... M.
  6. The Material Definition Tool (rainbow Icon) will allow you to make any changes , eg rename the material , and then save it to the Library , not sure if it works in your particular Case though? M
  7. There is a Note in this week's Update to CA10 PDF that this has been fixed ....... fingers crossed .... 2.7 Dimensions • Fixed a problem that caused Temporary Dimensions along walls to stop at perpendicu‐ lar walls.
  8. Thanks Ken , if you want real 3D , I made another Library back in Jan. just remember to turn Framing on in ALL views to see them
  9. I mostly do Remodels / Renovations and depending on the Era of the house they are all different, for example the current one has a height of 98" finished floor to finished Ceiling , so I'm using 9' Precuts for the 99 1/2" height. M.
  10. same around here , I always have to change CA's default and wondered where it was 97 1/8 , was thinking just Idaho but I guess not.... M.
  11. All good advice , things to try above....... I have not heard of those particular symptoms so a call to TS maybe a good idea too. Nvidia Drivers of late haven't been the best , so trying another version may help. Graham thinking that the iGPU is being used not the 1080Ti is also a good thought.....
  12. is Chief crashing or the Computer ? are you watching CPU Temps when Raytracing ? any error messages ?
  13. Did you play around with my Plan above ? I didn't need to turn off the Sun.... I also adjusted the Fitting to have 8 "lights" the main issue was the source being buried in the Cabinet Top which blocked the light. Also, it's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that. If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window. I guess I need to re-write the above , To fill in your Signature .... go up to the top RH Corner of this window and click on your UserName> Account Settings> Signature.... and make sure to also enable Signature with the checkbox (will Turn Green) then add your Hardware Details and Chief Software Version, as different Versions may require different Answers. ***To add Pics to your Posts please use Windows Snipping Tool , found under Windows Accessories in your Start Menu, Save the Snip to your Desktop and Drag it into the Light Grey Area of the Reply Window. 14. I think Ray is right you need to cut a roof Hole around your 2nd storey Walls ... remember in CA.... Roofs Control Wall Heights....
  15. I think this is indeed the issue , I deleted your Frieze Moulding in case it was the culprit but found if I make a frieze bigger than 6" wide ( off building) in your plan it disappears . I couldn't save your Frieze Moulding to reuse unfortunately It also appears you need a Box Eave and a Soffit to get Friezes to appear ( I set the soffit to 1/16th" ) but I found in a New X10 Template plan I can layer Frieze Mouldings up with no Issues under this 18" overhang below. I couldn't save your Frieze Moulding to reuse unfortunately 1. 16 1/4 x 5x8 ( CA-001) 2. 4 x 7 ( CA-001) 3. CA-009 at 3" 4. CA-009 at 6"
  16. Thanks for the Followup , it would not of occurred to me that the Shadows would cause the light to not show..... just the opposite , I see how being above the Fixture would be an issue to some extent but am surprised it blocked all the light. M.
  17. The pic is really small Larry , 1" x 2" , so too hard to see your example , so I'm not sure which Section Camera you are using there... 1st clue .....Shadow Boards generate from the fascia line back and trim the framing as seen below when swapping the Shadow Board for a 3x12 handrail moulding.... so that's why you are getting the weird Framing I think.... so the Frieze Option looks like the way to go... M.
  18. That is really strange cos it was my 1st thought ... ie. lights buried in cabinet material.... so I pulled the fitting out in front of the Cabinet a few feet ( 3rd pic above) and still got nothing , so I am thinking it has more to do with the 25mm vs -25mm Offset than than the Fitting location....? 0 mm seems to work fine too ( below ) .... I was curious why the offset at all actually ...just the thickness of the fitting I assume ? *** Note to Neil ...make sure you turn on the Electrical, UC layer in ALL views eg Sections to see the Fitting. Raytrace 8 light LED Strip (see plan) Kiosk Cabinet_MHD.plan
  19. Hi Neal , I guess you are not aware as Mark pointed out you NEED Walls a Roof and a Floor (Foundation) in a Plan to make CA's Lighting work correctly , The Lighting Engine needs something to "bounce" light off to make the View , this is particularly important in Raytrace Here is your cabinet in PBR with 4 walls ( pic 1) and a roof and foundation built around it , then in Standard View where the lighting is more subdued, but in RT the LEDs don't seem to work??? ..... at 1st I thought it was because the fitting is buried in the cabinet soffits etc but I dragged it out in front and even added 4 extra lights, changed the light colour, type etc, and still nothing in RT except some light Pin Points on the Bar, so Mark or Graham will have to "illuminate" us both more on their LED Light Fitting as the checkbox to use the light is on for both camera and RT views , perhaps I missed something? been a while since I did a RT, maybe just not bright enough for RT?
  20. Looks Like Eric is onto something , I just changed the Garage Front wall back to "Default Bottom height" and it fixed it *** in the OP looks like you tried attaching the plan 4 times? but because it was locked it didn't really attach , so it is a dead link when clicked on.
  21. Joy , your plan file is not attached...make sure it is not open in CA before trying to attach it as CA Locks the File while it is open. M.
  22. 4k did not work for me ( 43" Vizio at Costco ( easy return)) but that was 2 years ago and perhaps Win10 had a few Issues with scaling? personally I wear Glasses these days and found text etc was too small and with the other issues I went back to a standard 32" Monitor ( I have 2 x 32" Benq now) at 2560x1440 but 4k seems to work for many especially for Client meetings etc.
  23. I didn't look at the Plan either , as I joined the thread after your answer and I was pretty sure you had the Answer , I just added my 2cents worth on adding the 0,0 Point to help eliminate the Issue in future plans.... I did not "see" a footing/post in the PDF , nice abstract though.... or perhaps I need more Psych help M.
  24. personally no I didn't look as I thought Glenn had the answer , I can barely tell what it is though ? ( @fletcher? ) , so am surprised the 0,0 advice worked...
  25. I think it was this Thread Chopsaw....
