  1. I think Chief's cabinets use an automated, hard coded 1/16th Gap , so you'd likely want to do some testing to see if it reports sizes as you want/expect. Mark will likely have more Info for you as the resident Chief Cabinet Guru, he has many informative posts here on the Forum. @MarkMc
  2. Thanks Charles . appreciate you recording and posting that link. FYI for others ...it is about a 2GB download. Mick..
  3. just realized it is GTM , so with the Email Scott sends you, call in with your Phone and use it for Audio not the computer Audio and you should be okay..... might want to install and start GTM early so you don't miss anything if you don't already use it. I unfortunately have a meeting at the same time , so hopefully someone can record and upload ....please..... M.
  4. Please Submit this Pic for Addition to the Ref. Manual Levis , I need to send it to the Person who asked me about it last week Mick.
  5. Weird cos there is a Baseline for that Plane out at the Fascia , which I assumed was the one it was using for the measurement. I wasn't sure why 3 different versions all calculated it differently though , but your explanation would solve that I think, as I didn't use the same house (width X length) in each version, I just drew a random box.
  6. Phone headphones work, I use my over-ear Sony's on my PC, but you may need an adaptor to work on a PC port depending on whether you have separate ports for headphones and mic or a combo like some laptops have and whether you use an android phone or an iphone as iphone's use a different wiring scheme. M.
  7. Only it doesn't work as expected as I recently discovered ..., the in from baseline appears to mean nothing on a 1/2 hip , it appears to measure from the inside of the wall not from the Baseline in X10 ( which on a 1/2 hip appears to be the Fascia Line in Chief ) and in X12 it is even worse. ( I await to be corrected ) M. X12 X10 and X11 for comparison.
  8. If you have overlapping Elevation Data they can definitely mess with each other eg an elevation (contour) line running under the elevation region. M.
  9. In situations like this that is what I normally do too ie place a 6" - 12" wide T.Region across the front of the garage and the rest of the Terrain will slope up to it automatically, haven't tried it in X12 , but are you saying it doesn't work like it used too ? Will give it a try when I have some more time..... *** Edited - I see we posted at the same time.....it does work. M
  10. Maybe the lights setting ? ....How many default lights do you have on in the WC Camera ...8. 20 , or 100? 8 and 20 likely aren't enough ......
  11. Michael meant lower the garage "Room" by 6" ... by using the absolute Elevation Floor setting at - 6" on the structure Tab ( or -6" lower than it is now if not at 0")
  12. I agree , especially if they are room dividers , it may not be the best solution , but for dropping one room's ceiling it works well. M.
  13. I did assume it was one Room only on the floor, ie the bathroom under the stairs....... not a Room within a Room such as Chopsaw demonstrated. Mick.
  14. see if this works for you too .... https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/25753-creating-different-ceiling-heights/?do=findComment&comment=206779 Mick
  15. Thanks for letting us know it worked out well Sherry ..... Mick.
  16. That was a quick post on the Weekend and it may not have been clear that you can do the Framing too eg 2x6 ceiling Joists....( or 2x4 whatever .... ) just add a layer of framing so in this case with 2x6 joist ( 5 1/2") make the Air Gap 12 1/2 " not 18". No Doubt this is a trick I learned here at some point
  17. As Eric mentioned on the Import menu in X12 look for Import Saved plan views ( 3rd Section) and when the DBX pops up, point it to the X11 Plan file with the Saved plan views, then there will be another DBX popup , >select All and Replace ( or create new) >Ok and then they should all be in the drop down for SPV or the Project Browser. M.
  18. Those Saved Plan Views not already made in the X11 Plan? maybe not ? in which case I think in Layout you can Create them in the X11 Plan ( icon on toolbar after selecting layout box) and then you can Import them into X12, from the X11 Plan File, replacing or adding to the X12 Premade Views. Worth a try for sure.... M.
  19. You don't need two walls , Chief will allow one door to sit exactly on top of the other ( center tool works) and make it look like it is one door.... 1n both 2D and 3D
  20. If the 2nd floor room remains at the Original Height ??? then add an appropriate depth ( 18"?) AirGap to the Ceiling Finish in the Room you want the lowered Ceiling in. *** see post further down too....
  21. What you show here is NOT the Material Chopsaw uploaded for you...... if you imported it ??? it would be in your User Catalog ..... Neither , you I or Chopsaw can Update the Core Catalogues ourselves. They are locked by Chief. M.
  22. By Rendered do you mean Raytrace ? ( I haven't done one in 2-3 yrs - now we have PBR ) An overview uses the STD camera, same as the Full or other Perspective Cameras so they should al have the same issue. It's possible your Core library materials are corrupt in X12 ...maybe... since the rest of us seem to have no issues with the File. Can you do a File>Backup Entire Project> ( check the Zipfile Option) and post the Zipfile ........this will include every referenced file used in the plan so we will all have the exact same textures for testing. If you have PDFs etc in the Plan then Strip them out and maybe the Cars and Plants since those appears okay and hopefully the file will be under 25mb so you can post it. M.
  23. I you are having Issues with anything, don't forget to also check the CA KnowledgeBase (KB) too . for FAQ's / tutorials ( with downloadable PDFS ) https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00078/creating-an-open-below-room.html https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-03012/creating-a-storage-loft-in-a-larger-room.html
  24. Wasn't you AFAIK, though you may have started a new Template for X12? Framing set to Calculate From Width ,unchecked is the Default in Chief's Residential Template in X11 + X12 for both Windows and Doors it seems, just ran into this recently myself. M.
  25. Try marking the New Wall as a Furred Wall on the Structure Tab Chief also calls them "Marriage Walls" ...or used too... normally used in Duplexes etc as Fire Walls. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00925/using-marriage-walls.html M.
