  1. What is the door configuration? Is it one pair and one single on the left? At least for the pair you can make one door not swing in the DBX. I have not done this but if the other fixed door was a symbol could it be set up so it does not have swing indicators?
  2. You did not attach the file. Look closely at the upload dealybob. First you swing your partner round and round, then you dod si doe.
  3. The layer to look for is "Roof Planes". Which camera did you select? Are you using the floor overview? Floor overview excludes the roof.
  4. See my post in this thread and upload that plan file: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/4609-cant-see-roof-in-3d/
  5. Attach your plan file. It is difficult to say what your issue is without seeing your plan. Or, are you displaying the Roof Planes layer? When you go to attach your plan, close the file in CA before attaching. Also, after you browse for the file it is not yet uploaded. The actual upload requires a second button that will be apparent after you see the dialogue button. In the post options to the right and below where I am now typing you will see "More Reply Options". You want more.
  6. If you do not make the railing area an actual room you can cheat the railing height by adjusting the bottom and top in the railing defs. See attached plan Bash rev1.zip
  7. Agreed. I would also be great to be able to assign a rotation axis and alignment for the cad blocks to help rotation snapping.
  8. There are contractors nearby who just do framing. I had gotten a bid from a guy a few years ago out of Santa Cruz. He was bidding jobs in Carmel and The Santa Lucia Preserve so Pleasanton is not far away. Most framing contractors will do the concrete and framing. This is a good way to go since the framing being straight and square is dependent on the foundation being the straight and square. The problem I have found with hiring carpenters as opposed to hiring a contractor with a good crew is that once an individual reaches a certain level of knowledge they often branch out on their own. Therefore, if you hire a guy who is not a contractor or not actively working for a contractor you are rolling the dice. Many General Contractors will be happy to work with you as a sub or consultant. I have not done work in Pleasanton but I was helping my brother with a project in San Mateo and got this list of local contractors with great recommendations: Rick Guinon 650-556-9518 Larry Kayle 650-318-0211 Patrick McEvoy 415-999-1432 Ron Collosi 650-594-9442 ron@summitltd.com Summit Construction www.summitltd.com
  9. Only the vector view can be sent at scale. If you have any of the rendering styles visible you will be sending an image. You can get your image scaled just right if that is what you are trying to do. Here is the workflow: 1. Set you camera so that you can see all of the "image" / elevation view (now don't move your camera for a bit). 2. Send the vector view and choose the send option in the layout DBX "Current Screen". 3. In layout show the layer "Layout Box Border". This will make the next step easier 4. Back in the plan file, change to your desired rendered view option. 5. Send to layout (the options have disappeared ) but this will be good. 6. In layout, resize the image by snapping the corners of the image layout box to the vector view image box. You now have your rendered elevation at scale.
  10. 1st step, talk to your insurance agent about a supplemental workers comp policy on your home owners insurance.
  11. Eliminate the attic as the floor you are going to. Create a floor that is your attic and lower the roof accordingly.
  12. Absolutely. My wife considers herself the concierge of Carmel. If you can schedule to be here on a Monday night there is a restaurant that only serves on Monday night. It is deep out in Carmel Valley called the Cachagua General Store. It has the decor of a back woods gas station with mismatched chairs and cowboy paraphernalia. Absolutely the best meal I have had in California. Lots of great spots all around.
  13. In Carmel. Some people call this Northern California but I think of it as central.
  14. Where are you in Northern California? Come over and I will show you. We have a nice beach.
  15. No. that would be filled completely in white (or magenta...) but it allows you to specify the transparency.
  16. The methodology is this: 1. Send to layout at required scale 2. Resize the layout box to the size you want to see printed. If you want to change the scale of what you sent to layout you can do that in layout.
  17. See attached. White fill faded as a way to fade out the portion of the elevation that is not orthogonal to the camera.
  18. Perry, I think that is the trick. I just needed that roof plane to be what it should be. Thanks, Alan
  19. I have been monkeying with this for months. I just tried another round of "what if I do this?" but nothing is working. I can get the roof plane and sheathing to correct itself and as soon as I do a few other commands it pops back to the state in the image. It may just be a bug based on the window box and the attic wall configuration. Any ideas? F7 Planning App Rev 1a.zip
  20. Scot, you would have loved the Soviet Union. Live comrade or dead comrade, who needs some many choices? I just want the full line of Restoration Hardware lighting, and this ashtray....

  22. Greg, you need to change your screen name to "The Machine". Thanks for all the goodies.
