  1. You can show your second floor while viewing the first. Hit the Reference Floor button as shown on the image. That will allow you to snap to the referenced floor lines.
  2. Go to the plan view and show the roof planes along with the walls. Select the roof plane and hit the 3 hot key to make a break point on the roof where it intersects the wall. Now grab the roof ridge extension and drag it back to the wall line.
  3. I am so happy (and sad) that this was not me being a dope and spending 8 years working on a CADD program to just be slightly mediocre. I should not need to delete the blocking to make this happen. See the section where I have lost my bird blocking.
  4. Logic? We don't need no stinkin' logic. Thanks Glenn and Mick. I always regret grabbing the wall tops and adjusting so this really helps.
  5. The picture of the existing condition is what I would like to do. The model seems to want to do what the vector view shows. Is there a way to rebuild without dragging the walls up in a camera view that will give me this condition? Erinphries as built (2).zip
  6. Yes, same methodology without the cad to view by just making a few polyline boxes will do the trick. The main thing to keep in mind is you can not have two walls in the same place.
  7. Take your as built drawing and show only the walls and windows (no doors). Cad detail from view. Select all those cad lines and put them on the demolition layer and make them dashed lines. Copy and paste into your plan view and lock the layer after sending all those cad lines to the back. Now if you move any walls or delete sections of walls that are demolished the dashed lines show through. Done.
  8. I tried this holder for a few minutes but I was painting a door flat on saw horses. For that it felt very heavy and unbalanced. I may be painting my garage door this week which will be in it's vertical position and see if I like it for that.
  9. Change the print resolution (DPI) to 150.
  10. There are a lot of variables in this situation. If you post your plan file you are going to get a faster (correct) answer.
  11. It would be nice to have Baldwin and Emtek door hardware.
  12. The fastest way to clear this is to open the Task Manager and do a hard kill of the program.
  13. I have a surface with Windows 8. I have often tried to open up a new session not realizing that there is already a session running due to the way that Windows 8 hides the running applications rather than clearly displaying them in the task bar like in version 7.
  14. Keep in mind, in real film making there are walls called "wild walls". To wild a wall is to remove it so that you can get a good camera angle on the shot. If you really want to make useful video of an interior you may need to wild some walls to make the video suck less. Otherwise we are all making a less scary version of the Blair Witch Project with a Stedicam.
  15. Are you using the walk thru path tool?
  16. Frame rate will not change the playback speed. Frame rate is how many frames of video are shot per second. The default is at 15fps (frames per second) which makes for very choppy looking video. Television plays at 30fps which is a good frame rate to use for this type of low quality video. Film (before digital) was shot at 24fps.
  17. Take a look at the attached image. I have set 8 keyframes that show up looking like cameras on the path. These are each aimable and you can adjust the time it takes between keyframes (speed after...). By adding more keyframes to your path and adjusting the time it takes for each to get to the next you will modify your speed of the camera. You can also set the height of the camera by changing floors that the camera is on. You can see that my path seems to stop and start again. At that point I jump to the second floor to get a different vantage point on the subject.
  18. I did try nailing the brush to my hand but it kept rotating. I will try tomorrow with more nails.
  19. I would upgrade to the 980 card. A quick comparison of the 2 cards shows a lot of benefit in the 980 for not much of a price change. Agree with the SSD size. Mine is full and I constantly have to cull out the garbage to keep it running well (120gb).
  20. I just ordered this. Report coming soon. http://www.finehomebuilding.com/item/109733/galaxg-freehand-ergomaster-pro-paint-brush-handle
  21. I am so used to building on lots the size of a Midwest walk in closet that it is hard to imagine being able to afford a wall thicker than 5".
  22. In answer to the other question, yes, it would be non standard in my experience to see the rough opening as the dimension indicator on the plan. This would be due to a change in window manufacturer in the bidding process could require a new set of R.O.'s. It is safer to give the direction to where the window goes and then allow for the minor adjustment. This is why windows are often dimensioned at the centers
