  1. I know of no schools that use Chief for their CADD software. With that said, are you hiring for drafting or design and drafting. Very different in my mind. If you find a young grad with a tight portfolio it will be easy to get someone trained on whatever CADD software you are using. A young person with good computer knowledge can pick up a new software package quickly as they are less likely to fight the tools (that are not in CA but they are used to from ACAD). I actually would like to start an education program so I can develop drafting help but I think my local area is a bit too small.
  2. I tend to run both x6 and x7 beta simultaneously, although I am almost completely out of x6, I don't like to be confused by the task bar icon so I made this icon to replace x7. I like it. seven_icon.ico
  3. I did send in a ticket. You may have grabbed the file that I uploaded that had cleared the issue. Also, I had made a polyline fix and I can't remember if that second file had it moved away. I did send it in to support but no word back yet.
  4. I am always printing to pdf. It appears a small amount of the text is jumping from the plan on the left to the print area.
  5. I am getting a strange result with this plan/layout. See the image trail. 1. screen shot in layout 2. screen shot in print preview 3. print result https://www.dropbox.com/s/ipi8kpsmc8r5d21/bu%20glick.zip?dl=0 edit --Just updated the drop box file. I had cleaned a bunch of extraneous files out of the layout which cleared the issue but that is still not good since I generally need those other files to live in the layout.
  6. The contractor for this project (rightly so) said that he was confused by the elevations due to the building having skewed wings on each side. Not any more since I was able to fade out the skewed portion of the elevations with our new semi transparent fills. The fill on these uses a white fill with 40% transparency. El Fade.pdf
  7. @Rashid, you just saved me a ton of time. Check out the next two images. I only traced the critical area. The bulk of the elevation just gets a large cover. See the temp blue line for a point of reference. In the plan file Then in layout
  8. Yes. It was a little tedious but a lot easier than cutting out peel and stick tone sheets on mylar.
  9. Do you have more than one copy of the finish schedule in the plan file? It is all guesses without a plan file on most questions. Post you plan, win a prize.
  10. Work in progress on elevations for a project where the plan has skewed wings.
  11. Delete the room finish schedule and recreate it. They should all update.
  12. I don't think Larry was clear enough in his response to Jay, NOOOOO! I will post something soon to illustrate.
  13. Lew, sorry about your dog and best to you in your health issues. I am pretty sure Perry was not poking fun at you but making a sexual reference. Not that I want to give that idea too much thought or air time.
  14. Yes. I did one with this finish on a wood framed structure. 8 years later it still looks great.
  15. If you go with stucco you can get really good results with Acrylic and Elastomeric finish coats. It can still have that smooth concrete look without getting the hairline cracks that are typical of a standard stucco finish. I am not sure how they hold up in cold climates but they work great in my climate.
  16. That is loco by Anderson if they have callouts to RO but I can see if being a lot easier to deal with in the field since your 2'6 window is framed at 30". You may have to customize your callouts for the windows and size for the specified RO.
  17. When you run into problems like this it is always best to post the plan. There are generally things at hand that are in your plan, not the software that are the issue.
  18. The corners would basically be resized corner trim. See Build----> Trim-----> Cornerboards Or get fancy and make a molding polyline and a custom molding. I am not sure if you would be able to see the difference in the model or elevation.
  19. You cannot fill your belly by painting pictures of bread CHINESE PROVERB
  20. If you only need the elevations and not the full 3d model views, just make a cad polyline with a solid fill in the elevation camera view that you are sending to layout.
  21. Select over the window then hit the TAB key on your keyboard. This will now select the window.
  22. Calc your height difference by drawing a cad line and....
