Just messing around. Wanted to get more detail for this medicine cabinet. Did a close up at an angle with polished properties. Wanted to show the pilaster. I have a 3D light in front of the cabinet at 15watts. I could just do a line art render and it will show but no pizazz. I may include close up RT's like this for future projects.

ClientX (existing), Client1,2,3,4 or however many I deem necessary. I don't want to redo things only to find they decided they liked the 1st or 2nd or 3rd best of all. OR part of 1 and part of 4. You know the drill. Layouts may also vary.

Can you post a picture? Don't really understand what you are saying.

Just do it by eye.....

Even if you get it to look right on YOUR monitor it will look different on your customers so best to explain that and go with approximate.

How Can I Make Half Of An Upside Down Pyramid Shape?

Amie - I deleted my other post as It was not correct. However you can use a molding on a molding polyline. pretty straight forward. Just make sure you have a slight return to the wall. -

OK, turns out I needed to update the driver. When I checked for an update via the Nvidia control panel it said it was up to date. However, I was also having trouble with Lumion and someone from their site found that the driver was in fact not up to date and posted a link to the latest. GOt it working now. It's a real mind field out there. Can't even trust the manufacturer for the right information. ;o(

Alan - the 3D light(s) can be of real value when you want to brighten a scene without playing with recessed lights. I usually set them to not have shadows. Placing 1 or 2 in a scene can work well. All ray tracing is sort of an art form. Not like turning on lights in real life. You have to play/experiment some but it can be well worth it for the final results. Good Luck!

Alan - I think part of your answer is what will be used in the actual build. Is there room in the ceiling above for recessed? furniture placement also contributes to lighting placement. I would not place lights just to suite Chief's rendering. I would however adjust them as needed to get a good render/ray trace. You can always add 3D lights if needed. Also some sunlight coming in through those doors would be nice.

Rich - What codec are you using in Chief? you need to take that Chief avi file and convert it to an mp4. One program is Any Video Converter. IT is free. AFterwards you can also adjust it in Windows movie maker.

I have re-everything.......
-
Doug - I have navigated to the chief X7 directory and the Chief exe file and selected it. Don;t know what else to do. I can disable the Intel graphics but am leery to do so because I don't know what will happen.
-
TS could not help. This has me stumped!
-
I have those items selected but it still shows the Intel graphics under chief's video card status. I'll call TS when they open.
-
Graeme - which 2 files? Joey - right click on what file/where to change default? The default for both the main chief x& exe file as well as the ray tracer exe file are set to the Nvidia caard but the Intel shows up under preferences for ray trace. I guess I will call TS tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback though!
-
OK, just noticed that my copy of X7 is using the built in Intel graphics card.. I have it set to use the Nvidia in the Nvidia control panel unless I am not doing it right. Set the path to chief X7 directory and selected the exe file for it. IS that correct?

"North Carolina because they are stupid and just want to be different. I forgot about mudslides. Only in California is mud a natural disaster. In the south we put big tires on the truck and go play in it. (Sorry, couldn't resist)" LOL! Good way to start a Saturday morning. ;o)

Rethinking my previous posts. I am a remodeler. When I want to remodel a ROOM it should include what is on the walls. i.e. - repair/replace drywall in master bedroom. I don't look at a room as what is on the floor but the whole room including walls and ceiling.
-
I was looking for that!
