  1. Joe - OK. Obviously I did not try that specific process. I get pretty much the same thing with the counter top, edge profile and then flipping into position on conversion to door symbol.
  2. Joe - That is what I was attempting to do but only got it for two edges not four. I can do it with a counter top but get the lines Mark wanted to avoid. Can you enlighten me on your solid subtract process?
  3. Mark - I was afraid of that. I have tried with solids but to get the profile on all 4 sides is a mystery to me with Chief's limitations on working in different views. I am sure it is very easy in Sketchup. I, however, have not taken the time to really do much in it. I might play with it today if I get time.
  4. Mark - how about making both items solids and then merging them and then make symbol?
  5. Larry - OK, I missed that. Decks can get pretty squirrely. Definitely need some work along with the stairs. ;p(
  6. Larry - OK I'm back. Select the deck room, click build deck framing and it comes back. Happens all the time when moving railings that causes a loss of room definition even when reconnected.
  7. rebuild deck framing. THat usually does it. Don't have time to look at the plan. HEading out the door.
  8. jon - that looks like some of the ivy is actually in mid air! Is that just an illusion? Very nice.
  9. just move another single up against the existing and it should "merge" as long as they are the same height.
  10. Larry - same here. I don't worry about it. I just do what needs to be done to get it right and move on. I just opened your plan. It is a little bit of an unusual set up in that there is no lower wall from which part of the gable wall is being generated. It does seem to create a not so clean gable wall. Especially in vector view. You can see the "add on" extension. Playing with it definitely gets things messed up.
  11. Everything will come over to X7, libraries etc.. X6 will still be installed but the plan files will default to X7. You can always change this. I think most have made the switch with no problem but maybe wait until you hear from others if you want. I thin most of the glitches have been hardware related for older computers. You can always try one plan in X7 and go from there if you don't have any problems.
  12. Build the 2nd floor and in the room over the garage that is a half story adjust the ceiling height to what you want. That is the quick answer without knowing any other aspects of what you want the half story to be.
  13. Are you using the join roof tool? I assume not. Also - it would be a good idea to add your version of Chief to your profile as what works/is available ion one version may not be in another.
  14. Alan - I had to go back and check how I did it. I forgot about the frame width myself.
  15. If you use a doorway and pass through with no casing and set the frame for the window to 0, minimum separation 0, it will show OK.
  16. Do you have your minimum separation set to 0"?
  17. just change the material for the individual roof sections. Don't know what version you are using so cannot tell you the best way. changing each roof plane individually works on all versions though.
  18. you can also use cabinets set to a shallow depth if you want a paneled wall.
  19. I just tried installing them and I get the attached message. I also installed the upgrade to the program this morning. Don;t know why that would affect things.
  20. I know my vision is not what it used to be but I swear there is no attachment......
