Depending on the data type, I import directly into a blank plan to see how it works.

Looking to finish a plan/pay for one-on-one training (x9)
MPDesign replied to harrisd's topic in Seeking Services
Hi harrisd, I can help you with your plan and training on x9. Please contact me to discuss specific details that you need help with and costs. Send a private message with your contact info. -
I think it has to be done when you install chief on the machine. Custom install.

Hi Griffin, I am sure I can help. I sent you pm. Thank you, Michael

Tommy, Make sure in the options panel that it is set to 1 vertical panel. other wise they work here.
-
ok, what part of the plan or layout were you working on. Just trying to help jog memory I would be suspicious of the ssd, can you try put your plans on a disk drive? just saw your last post on hot keys, starting to wonder if there is a problem with the data folder? Is there any background processes running that might be affecting the folder. like back up routines, system back up commands etc just thinking out loud, I dislike technology problems as much as you do right now!

Why is Chief crashing? What was the last command given?
-
What I have noticed is that the material default does not change. Has to be made default in new wall copy.

Hey I am in Minnesota, north of MSP about an hour! I would be able to help you, send me a pm with contact info

I would try print to chief pdf instead of printing directly to your printer. Then open pdf and print from there. See if that works

Where are the new bump map and normal map files?
MPDesign replied to CARMELHILL's topic in General Q & A
Ed what are you looking for? you can make a bump or better yet a normal map of any existing material, very easy Here is a link Kirk posted up a while back on normal maps. Its real easy once you make a couple. I just do a back up of entire plan with textures to have a copy of each texture I want to use for making the normal map from. then its all saved in one place for easy use. https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/topic/11836-normal-maps/#comment-101872 -
Rashid, Make your concrete floor on foundation level 0. mixed with a black color. or like Scott said build your framing to get sill plate. paint that black.

Also don't forget to cut/ break your roof around your 3rd floor walls. Move them up to 3rd to make it easy.

Mike: 1-pony wall, stucco top and interior lower, show lower wall in plan view 2-have to break the roof around the walls to let them build. Just In case you forgot, roofs cut off walls! 2017-02-edit.plan

two answers 1- I made a folder inside the client folder so it was easy to keep track of. Thats where i put the copies of the bump and normal maps I use. 2- I used the shadow board tab in the fix all roofs command. I used the CS-05 casing molding in core molding library, set to 2 1/2" tall x 3/4, from the top. hth, happy raytracing!

Christina, Thank you for the tips, will be setting up bed time renders soon!
-
Christina, very nice work. kudo's to you! I was curious if I missed something about running multiple ray traces, in sequence? How'd you do that? My fav is the overhead view of the backyard veranda design! I really like your design & layout! It feels like a fun place to be on a summers evening! I also like the pano of the kitchen, it does take the place of at least 3 view point renders! oh and thank you again for the sun angle map, I remember when you shared it last time! thx again

Hi Gang, I actually scored these while searching the forum for grass, from a link posted by Alan Lehman here on the forum January 2015. Thank you Alan for finding this and sharing in the first place! here is the link, http://www.brusheezy.com/textures/20185-seamless-green-grass-textures Also here is the grass that I used, plus the bump map. Happy raytracing Scott, I have not used Lumion, I used to use Artlantis several years ago when chief was using povray engine. I am glad that Chief is getting better results and in way less time than it used to. That and lighting was the primary reason for the switch initially.

Yes I agree, but the client asked for wood
-
Here is my updated "all chief raytrace" Its getting better, found a better grass texture. Also added a small roof shadow board to give the edge a better look. Chief doesn't extend the roofing past the face of the fascia if there is no shadow board it looks funny. see the previous image. post #25

It appears that if there is one made for the material it is located here. assuming a standard install. C:\ProgramData\Chief Architect Premier X9\Referenced Files\CoreCatalogFiles.zip#zip:Asphalt Roofing Normal 2016.png -
Rashid Is this what you are after? This is the perspective floor overview camera, used the cross section slider set to 79" aff. Then view direction tool, select top view.

Mike, Yes it was a copy of the image used in front and then painstakingly erased to see thru the trees.
