  1. Also it would be great to get room names in the sections.
  2. Nice Wendy, that would be good for those that like a lot of cad work, But I like it always live. I do use the auto detail icon for Foundation cover up though. It's very quick for me. Stairs really should work without all that fix up.
  3. Be careful what you ask for as Los Angles County is the worst in the nation and very difficult to work with. If you are not familiar withthem, do your homework first. You may be required to do lots of extra work, not known unless you have worked there before. Structural engineer is a must have, and if hillside topo maps and soils reports will also be required. Good luck
  4. I change the layer to "fireplaces" on those chimneys so I can turn it all off or on.
  5. They only got me at the buffet line but I'm way in the back, maybe no one will notice
  6. Mick is correct, section / elevation views do not update at this time. You must open and close them.
  7. Yes, you can do it in chief, but I would have to play around with it to give you an exact answer. Chief does have curved roofs to do it with. Look in the help files , there are instructions there.
  8. I also see a lot of masonry fireplaces, its pretty much a dead trade now, but we still need to draw them. Chief has really not done much with them. I usually use a Chief standard fireplace and use p-solids from there to customize the chimney.
  9. Schedules should automatically update in the plan and layout. It does for me.
  10. Chief should automatically generate the sill for you, I would guess something isn't set up correctly. There is a place to size the plate height in the foundation DBX, then rebuild from the foundation level. You can also post the plan if I'm guessing wrong.
  11. If you use the "Box scale" instead of the "Scale", it will show the correct scale it was sent over to the layout as all the time no matter what zoom you have. If you re-scale the view it also changes automatically. Been doing it that way for many years now.
  12. Check "balloon frame" and it will fill in for you.
  13. That's why an engineer works, he will do the calculations for lateral and check the beam sizes for you .You are then free to design away. That's the way I have done it for 40 plus years. no problems
  14. Now you can upgrade for 50 bucks ,Turbocad ( Imsi) bought them years ago and let it die on the vine, that's when I came to Chief.
  15. Are all your lines black, or are they in color, I always print in grayscale. Could be your printers fault also. Color in grayscale will print different shades of gray for the colors, so it may look fuzzy or maybe the printer is just running out of ink. If you are enlarging your PDF then you might get pixilation .
  16. Scott has 1 million hotkeys, how he keeps track of all that is a mystery to me.
  17. If you were from California, you would know what I'm talking about.
  18. Will an Engineer stamp work, I do that on every project, plus you might need an Engineer anyway.
  19. Dennis, I used Designcad for many years prior to chief. Still keep up with it, ver. 25 just came out. I have too many jobs drawn on it to give it up. Great program for cad work.
  20. Build your foundation for that garage ,and adjust the curb height.
  21. For me, and I do nothing but Con doc's, all the time, the 3d framing views just isn't there yet, needs more work for me to show 3d framing. It's getting closer with each new version. I really don't want framers looking at the 3d framing views and trying to build from that. Too many mistakes at this point for that. I really use Chief as a basic start ,and cad detail everything that needs one.
  22. yes, just add another floor, whether you want one or not in your default or template plan.
  23. You also have to change it for every floor in your plan
