  1. It works for me. Depends wether you are auto building roofs or manually building roofs. This error message may shed some light. http://screencast.com/t/szSHUf3py3

Johnny, Have you tried using a primitive 3D Box instead of a poly solid?
  3. I think that you have a couple of things that could be going on. Posting the plan would make it easier. Here is my guess. In General Plan Defaults, you have "Ignore Casing For Opening Resize" unchecked - this would prevent you dragging the opening onto the other wall. So...you can do one of two things, go to General Plan Defaults and check "Ignore Casing For Opening Resize". Or... Go to the doorway's dbx and check Use Interior Casing, set the casing width to zero, and then uncheck Use Interior Casing. Using either method will allow you do butt the opening right up to the other wall. Note that just turning off the display of the "Casings, Interior" layer doesn't mean there are no casings - it means you can't see them, but they are still there. Likewise, unchecking "Use Interior Casing" doesn't mean they are not influencing the move distance from the other wall.
  4. Go down to the foundation room for the Garage and try these settings.
  5. Joe, Thanks, but the OP said he wanted to "divide a line equally into 4 parts" - no mention of any other numbers.
  6. How about this way which actually breaks the line into 4 parts. Make sure Midpoint Snaps are toggled on. Select the line. Select the Break Line tool on the Edit toolbar. Select Sticky Mode. Snap to the centre of the line. Snap to the centre of the new left hand section. Snap to the centre of the right hand section. this gives you a polyline broken into 4 equal parts. You can even use the Complete Break option as well if you want 4 individual lines instead of a polyline.
  7. Michael, Just to clarify. If you use the Save In File option, the actual picture is stored in the plan file. No need to send separately.
  8. Michael, This is the best I can do - probably the same as David is talking about. It's still only marginally better than using Sticky Mode and doing them one at a time. http://screencast.com/t/NkOYem8Q
  9. Johnny, You can fill a symbol with any color you like to hide a rail. ....as long as the fill color is the same color as the rail! Use the Fill setting on the 2D Block panel of the Symbol Specification dbx.
  10. Changing the minimum display size to zero allows you to see the text at it's correct size, no matter what the zoom level is. If you have it set to 50, the text will never get smaller than 50 pixels as you zoom and thus you may not see the actual size on screen - although the dimension text will still print at the correct size. You could also turn on Print Preview to see the actual size without changing this setting. You can do all sorts of things by using different dimension strings along the same line and format them differently. You can use Blank Segments to "jump over" other dimensions.......you can even use different units for different sections. Have a play and see what you can do.
  11. 1. You should be able to dimension to the kerb wall openings. 2. First off, make your Minimum Display size for Dimensions zero, in Preferences. Select the dimension line. Just under the dimension number there is a small grip that you can grab and move the dimension number to beside the extension lines - or anywhere else you want.
  12. Johnny, I would be more inclined to specify your rail to include the Newel/Posts from the library. That way, the columns and rails stay as one entity. No need to muck around placing railing and columns separately. You can then choose what displays by using the Plan Display settings. ie, Draw Newels, Draw Balusters/Panels, Draw Rails.
  13. Johnny, Draw one profile and then Multiple Copy. Added: Sorry, I thought you were talking about the cladding profile. The cross section lines layer is the way to go, as per Michaels post below.
  14. You can also assign a hotkey. I use CC for Current CAD Layer. Or, you can use Active Defaults (the wrench with a red tick) and change only the Current CAD Layer.
  15. Johnny, One thing that you should be aware of is that the Number Style settings that you show in your pic ONLY apply to dbx's, not to the general drawings.
  16. Maybe have a look at "Lower Wall Type If Split by Butting Roof"?
  17. My guess is that your outer wall layer is defined as a main layer. Otherwise, post the plan.
  18. Johnny, Do it with layers and a new layer set. No need for new wall definitions - that could get messy. I would think that unchecking "Walls, Layers" layer would do exactly what you want. Walls, Main Layer Only will not display the total wall width, "Walls, Layers" will.
  19. Mike, It is usually the column width that determines the size of the images. And it is usually a long column name that causes a wide column. So, abbreviate the column name and then drag the column width narrower, the image sizes will shrink accordingly. You could also have a play with the Scale Images setting, if that is causing a problem. The attached pic shows two 2D Symbol columns. The one on the left has been dragged narrower and the named changed to just "2D".
  20. Johnny, Have a look at this. It may have some possibilities for what you want to do. I am still working out the squirrely bits, but it seems promising. One disadvantage is that I don't think there is a way to have the text automatically change columns if you add or delete text or stretch the text box. Once the text is in a particular column, it is there for good unless you cut and paste to another column. ie, the text won't change columns as the height of the text box changes. Sorry it came to a bit of an abrupt end because I hit the 5 minute restriction, but you should be able to get the idea. http://screencast.com/t/5h4cpYNURO Regarding your first couple of posts, can you post a plan with those text boxes that you are having trouble with. You should be able to do what you want with the Paragraph formatting. I would just need to have a look at your text.
  21. Johnny, Yes, I think I can do this. ie, columns of text with automatic paragraph numbering over all the columns. I just put the finishing touches on and I will probably do a vid.
  22. Johnny, I'm not 100% sure of your exact setup or how you got there. Are you using Bullets in the Paragraph Options? Are you changing the size of the text box, or are you trying to do it in the Rich Text Specification dbx?
  23. Dimension Defaults...Locate Objects...Openings...check Casing, uncheck Sides. Seems crazy that these Temp Dim settings are controlled by the default dimension settings and not the Temp Dim settings.
  24. Johnny, In Layout, do you have Line Weights toggled on? I would guess the answer is no. This setting works the same in floor plan view as well. With this setting toggled on, and when you zoom, the text will remain the same size in relation to the plan, ie, it's screen size will change. With Line Weights toggled off, the text screen size stays the same with zooming. Or, alternatively, you can get the same results by toggling on Print Preview. I have always thought that a setting like Minimum Display Size, like we have for Dimensions and Labels, should be available for line styles.
