  1. Not sure if that is the best title. Pretty sure there is a work around for this but can't remember it or find it. I have a half (wall with cabinet door panels on one side) that has to butt up to an full height interior wall. There is a counter that overhangs the half wall by an inch. I need the counter to butt into the interior wall and not extend past it. IF I extend the half wall to meet the interior wall then the interior wall automatically shortens to meet it so the counter will then stick past.
  2. I use point to point move to place, no need to turn off bumping. Block when done.
  3. I recently noticed some of your comments on this and was intrigued. Intend to go back over those posts and see what I can use in general. Besides notes (which does look exciting to me!! ) I'm looking for something to use with cabinet labels. For instance if I edit a cabinet from the library to have 3 drawers the label changes to 3DBxx. If I use specify label and uses automatic label then add in width and depth I get 3DBxx xx yy. Ass in the option for sixteenths so I know what is going on in the drawing and it gets messy. I'm looking for a way I can match it to a cabinet mfgs nomenclature a little more automatically. There is an endless supply of nomenclature from the mfgs. One brand calls a 4DB a 4DB, another just a DB; both call a 3DB a 3DB. Wall cabinets- Chief uses w3030- one mfg uses W3030B if there is no center stile, another 2W3030 and then for inset they use ins.2w3030... to name a few. With 5 brands it makes for an endless supply of cabinets added to the library. I'm hoping that there is something easier. I don't expect it will ever eliminate needing to add to the library but perhaps something will help. It may be a fools errand but will see.
  4. Thanks,I get it Perry. I just discovered them last week. Then today I opened a new plan based on one of my templates and they were not there- tried several others and not there. Then discovered that they are in the current profile plan. So now I took those and added to my existing templates. It's a start-the ones that show to nearest 1/16th serves a purpose for me right now. Guess I have to go learn a bit more (Ruby?) to see what else I can have them do.
  5. Thanks Joe, that makes it easier. Just exported the macros and imported those into the templates.
  6. I did copy it over. When I open it there is no option for user defined, when I open the profile plan that loaded with X7 it is there. I can't find a setting for it. I'll see what it does after I import defaults and annosets from the old ones into the new profile plan. I don't understand what is going on but at least have a way out.
  7. Never mind, think I know but correct me if I'm wrong. This is new in X7? and the default template for my "new plans" was made in X6 or earlier? Guess it's time to make some new ones.
  8. Somehow I managed to find this in a plan recently- a set of user defined macros to use for labels. I have no idea how I found it but if I open a new plan the option is not there-the category is not in the "specify label/insert" listing. How do I get it to be there?
  9. Besides using any/all of the above I have an annoset for just walls another just bases. That allows me to dimension each run separately.
  10. Some folks offer training in the "Offering Services" area of the forums. I was cross checking against the Q&A section to see who might suit best while I tried to narrow down just what I needed. I took a one day intro webinar from Chief right out of the box which was worthwhile. A month later took a 3 hr follow up. Then started looking for extra help, By the time I had it sorted out (about 8 months -slow, stupid and hungry) it was kind of moot and really couldn't afford it. Perhaps if I was smarter and thought Scott was available things might have been different. Lots of videos available. This forum and the legacy one are gold mines, these folks are the best. I read it daily even things I don't need right now. I save snippets for future reference. There is a small but frustrating collection of gotchas doing kitchens;nothing compared to 2020 but in some ways more frustrating at first (affectionately known as work arounds You WILL find them. Search the forum (and the legacy forum) or post when you find the undocumented problems. I recently started on a list with the intention of putting together a kitchen survival guide to help training the next person I bring on. I'll post a rough version of that when it is cleaned up a bit. It's not ready and I'm slammed right now. . IF you bought the Interiors version I'd suggest getting Premiere as soon as you can afford it.
  11. My guess would be either- trying to drag a standard micro into a cabinet, or not using the dbx, or not resizing the cabinet. DAMHIKT .
  12. As Scott said "built in micro" from library works using the appliance in the cabinet DBX- Often you have to resize the cabinet first, place the appliance, then change the cabinet size. If you want it to look like a standard micro in an opening use Dennis's suggestion but you can't move it into the cabinet by simply dragging or using the arrow keys. To drag hold down the ctrl key while moving. Once in the cabinet (even part way) the arrow keys work. OR use transform replicate-move. Your picture shows micro drawer- attached are a few. Some work better than others and may need the origins changed, didn't check them. These go in using the DBX. Might add version your using to signature.
  13. For cabinets and appliances I have a layer, "CAD guides" with a dashed colored line style. Draw circles or arcs as needed, straight lines for aisle clearance, etc... Better than nothing. I usually only need a few so not too bad.
  14. Change the "dimensions" to units first, then change the dpi. Picture size based on pixels will simply change the unit size to suit the dpi. First I tried that and changed dpi to 1200 and got a warning regarding file size. Here is untitled 1-3, 75, 150 and 300 dpi.
  15. A little more than half my work is kitchens and baths for reno work. I always draw at least an exterior box and put a roof on it, seems to help with Ray traces. Dimensioning is easy to set up as noted, annotation sets help a lot with that. I'd seriously consider Premier Version over the Interiors version. Anno sets and detail from view are the two biggest factors but there are another fistful of features that save time and worth the cost. Another factor to consider is that in X6 they eliminated the ability to specify the allowance for rough openings which can be a real headache if you are working from plans or actual rough framing.
  16. Appreciate it Perry but I'll remain cautious. Should be able to let an image run this afternoon, I'm due anyway.
  17. Have not used CC as yet-at least not since this started. I can give that a try but have to find time to save an image so be a few days with work load. Just find it safer to have an image before allowing anything to touch the registry.
  18. I don't think it is the system, at least nothing else is behaving badly including X6, 2020 (at least no worse than normal) Turbocad, Envisioneer but what do I know. I'll try a plan in X7 from scratch and see what happens. I'm wondering if it is some conflict- will pay attention to what else is running to see if I can isolate something. 2020 has a utility to delete "temporary files" that is pretty essential when playing with that. I've been using it to try to stay ahead of problems. It's not as through as CCcleaner but has always helped and it's one click. I recall the undo was an issue when X6 first hit the public, this is about the same. The crashes are what spook me. Only one yesterday- same plan- was open for maybe 1/2 hour. Perspective, switch to vector, change layer set, detail from view-poof. Opened and repeat- no problem. Noticed a few other quirks I'll post separately.
  19. Fourth chief beta, never had this much, especially in the public portion.
  20. When backing up entire plan to send in ran across 4 missing textures. They were all for plants. No plants in plan. I had at one point placed a library dining room, guessing that had some but it is deleted. I tried purge materials but still got the message looking for replacements. Could that cause problems? How the heck do you get rid of the offending object?
  21. I'll second that. Last time I called support(4,5 yrs) was told they aren't there for training. I don't remember what I'd called for. I rarely call any program's support, ever, But ok I get it, I don't call, my SSA is for upgrades. There's a total of 7 tickets in my support center, the solutions for program problems were gotten here. I read this a couple of times a day just so I know what I don't know. -bless all of you.
  22. I understand, done enough beta over the years, I'll send it but from past experience this one won't be much help, I can't tell them anything worthwhile. Under the gun on it as it is, just want to get it out the door.
  23. Is this my imagination? I can't figure out what I have different here and why this is going on. In elevation or back clipped section-- In one plan I can snap a dimension to a custom counter, in the other I can't. both X6. I first ran across this in X7. Was working on the latest version of the "No snap" file. I went back to X6 to see if it worked there. When I went back to X6 the first file I checked is the one that works. (Dims work) So then figured I ought to check an older version of the other (No snap) file and that also doesn't snap in X6. I'm guessing it's something I have different in the defaults or somewhere but going crazy trying to find it. Would appreciate a set of fresh eyes- I don't need this often but do for this particular project. Right now I have a work around by deleting the custom counter because it will snap to an auto generated one.
  24. Wondering if anyone else is seeing issues? Sluggish in general , undo in particular, changing tabs, some dbx. I'm also getting more crashes than ever. I rarely get any, now several a day. At first I thought it was a symbol I created, figured I mucked something up. Got rid of that. Still crashing and seams to be random, doubt they are consistently reproducible. I'm not sure it's anything in particular other than the program wants a break. i.e. copy a layer set, change one line style. Apply that to elevation and crash. Restart, do the same thing and it works fine. I've had 4 or 5 today alone. Mostly working on one plan that was started in X6 but most work was done in 7. But I've had it on several other smaller projects (also started in X6) Between that and a few new quirks I'm thinking I'm going back to X6 except for this specific project. I still have suitable files for all the rest in X6.
  25. Little quirk I ran into making a hood symbol using: a cabinet, pline solids and molding pline. Sometimes when making a symbol I put in walls to simplify positioning everything. Not all objects classes treat the height off the floor the same. So if "auto adjust" is clicked , or any molding pline is used-they will move vertically when you delete the walls (which I do before finalizing the symbol) but the cabinet doesn't.
