which version of HD PRO ? since HD PRO users have manual tools for roofs and framing and cabinetry etc they can benefit from following the Chieftalk forum they should be aware that PRO has approx. 25% of the features of Chief Premier and that some solutions provided on Chieftalk may not be applicable they should also follow the Hometalk forum Lew

There you can select the desired version Frederick: understood but If I do a 4 hr work session and save every 5 minutes - every 15 minutes what does that do to the versions that were on the cloud ??? then the client calls and says "forget those changes" ??? or I decide I don't like the design alternative and want to start over or back to some earlier version that's no longer on the cloud ? Lew
-
another reason for not saving directly to the cloud via Dropbox or other services depends on how many versions they can store and recover back to when working I tend to save every 5 minutes or so definitely after completing a "difficult" task If each of these saves goes to the "cloud" then doing a recovery becomes difficult I would prefer to save the "final" version of a work session to the cloud Lew
-
Frederick: I prefer to save to a project folder on my HD then move that folder to the dropbox folder just gives an added level of security in case dropbox goes 'boom" Lew
-
Scott: clearer now, your first post sounded like the opposite I'm too nervous about "corruption" to save directly to dropbox glad it is working for you Lew
-
have they changed that Yes, CA indicated that the planned to allow it Lew
-
run into corruption of plan files if I am not accessing and saving them locally and independently of the cloud Richard: I would also be concerned about corruption while some may have had success I would be leery.... you may want to discuss with CA's tech support as I believe they don't recommend this far safer to work locally and then save to Dropbox when done with the session not sure about the User library and the size issue ??? again, probably best to consult with CA's tech support Lew

Importing Survey Data In Pnezd (Comma Delimited) Format
lbuttery replied to palommy's topic in General Q & A
Line 445 or point # 915 has no comment Gerry: you beat me to it Your data has a lot of zero elev points--- you may want to look at it again. Also some points are spread way out beyond a typical lot. Grouping is very bad. beyond my forte Lew -
Gerry: nice video but very tedious I agree, no reason that CA can't program Chief to do the calcs one question after placing the 20 slices you added breaks to adjust the PS to the terrain line then repeated that 20 times why not, adjust first one then replicate 20 times ??? Lew
-
maybe try arranging them elsewhere and then block them then place the blocks on the shelves Lew

Importing Survey Data In Pnezd (Comma Delimited) Format
lbuttery replied to palommy's topic in General Q & A
Hi: check Chief's MENU - FILE - IMPORT for available formats I don't think PNEZD is available as a choice but I do think there is a CSV choice maybe change the extension to the CSV format Chief can recognize (do this to a copy of the file) or try to find a conversion utility to change the PNEZD to one Chief can use or try "save as" from the software that created the PNEZD file as a format Chief can use Lew -
Scott: good summary you missed the taxing assessor taxes can be higher for more bedrooms I converted my one-car garage to office with full bath I added a 15' x 21' addition as a "family" room neither have doors, only doorways and thus don't qualify as bedrooms yet, with a few hours of labor they could have doors thus, if I ever sell my appraised 2-bed I can list it as a 4-bed yes, both rooms have decent sized closets.... and proper egress windows etc Lew
-
some jurisdictions auto-assume it will be a bedroom in attic or basement etc they mandate egress regardless of what you call the room Lew
-
CA has stated that changing devices will probably require a login you may want to contact CA directly to "complain" about this maybe they can "fix it" - maybe not ??? Lew
-
Tommy: no problems here ... Lew
-
I believe that there are requirements for min. of 10' x 7' to be a bedroom code or appraiser ??? Lew
-
Doug: I don't use multiple devices Lew

I'm not sure it is code but appraiser's might not consider it a bedroom without a closet not sure what qualifies as a "closet" check the appraiser rules .... http://www.inspectionnews.net/home_inspection/building-interior-home-inspection-commercial-inspection/4301-closet-myth-not.html http://appraisersforum.com/showthread.php?t=137884 Lew
