Perry: so what is different ??? Jim's solution looks like the OP's request to me ??? If not, I'm sure it could be tweaked manually just don't see a need to start manual and ignore the auto-gen have you tried the Mansard auto-gen settings ??? Lew
-
Rob: I agree 100% all the manual work-arounds can be "troublesome" yes, EVERYTHING can be done manually but Chief is suppose to be better than that .... Lew
-
David: a basic Mansard can be done with just a few settings for the auto-roof gen see the "styles" tab on the roofs dbx or the roof vidoes or help articles there are over 24 different roof styles and/or complex roofs that can be done with the auto roof gen CA recommends to start with auto then go manual if/as needed Lew

what do people expect from a hundred buck program?? Graeme: The same function it had 9 years ago ??? Tony: you should probably discuss with CA's tech support sorry, earlier I stated that HD ver 7 was based on Chief X1 actually, it was Chief ver 10 I think it was X2 (HD ver 9) where CA revamped all the cameras also, CA creates the newest version of Chief then when "stable" they slice and dice and create the various HD titles so maybe somewhere along the line the decided to change what was included ??? Lew

no attachment ??? not sure what a Chief Talf is ??? did you mean Chief talk ??? you may need to contact CA's tech support - they are open 6 AM - 5 PM Pacific Lew
-
Tony: you are referring to the HD product line this forum is mainly for the Chief Premier users while HD PRO users can find some benefit to following the Chieftalk forum the lessor HD products are too limited in their features to find much benefit check out the Hometalk forum which is dedicated to the HD products or contact CA's tech support for assistance the HD ver 7 products are based on Chief X1 Chief is now on Ver X6 Lew

an over-ride has been asked for many times it would be nice to have - especially for as-builts not everything comes out as "expected"/measured.... it would also be nice to be able to add a second dim there are times when the chief model would have a dim based on all the other dims then I would have to add - "but I measured it as ..." and would give it red text this would let me know that there was a discrepancy if it was big enough or I had a few of them I might even do a second site visit for verification' if it was "minor" I would live with it especially if it was not in the project area or critical to the project yes, all of this can be done with text boxes - but having it part of the dim string just looks better Lew

Notes from User Catalog Library do not place correctly
lbuttery replied to CARMELHILL's topic in General Q & A
Edward: Just add the text "Chief sucks" as many times as needed to get the different sizes it won't fix the problem but may make you feel better about it Lew -
Bob: yes, I saw that it was your opinion just replying that mine (and others) is not the same Perry: naw, it's just you for some reason we see things differently .... Lew
-
(which in my opinion is a waste of money anyway, just CA's way of sticking it to us Bob: Hmmm, certainly not the opinion of everyone I and many others think SSA is a great deal Lew
-
YEP, we all "moan and pi$$" about Chief's short-comings and our never ending "want" list but in the end Chief "floats our boat" everyday Lew

Third, if you can't draw a house with four walls the same height, you might want to look for a different program. Welcome: what I think Scott meant to say was it may be best to watch some of the training videos and learn some of the program's fundamentals Lew
-
Maurice: NOPE you have to clone it with new name then delete the old one WHY ??? we have been asking for rename capability for many versions WHY it wasn't a feature from day 1 ??? Lew

no reasonable way for two people to be working on the same Plan File at the same time? Joe: not that I have ever heard of ... my partner and I added our initials to the file name so that we knew who last worked on the plan then we would email the file to the person needing to do their "thing" then back to the other person no other way that I know of Lew
-
yes, "save in plan" default or preference would be very nice I just got bit twice on this my PC died in Dec and I had some presentations for my family history using lots of pics sure enough there were a few that I missed setting "save in plan" and I had track them down on my old HD's major PITA every time this happens Lew

Entry level drops 4 stairs to kit/fam rm in this REMODEL-help
lbuttery replied to Designers_Edge's topic in General Q & A
choose one of the levels to be set at floor height 0" then set the other rooms as needed in relation to that level if the height difference approaches 8' then consider creating another floor then build the stairs between the levels as needed Lew -
Curt: that has to be very frustrating I hope CA fixes it ASAP I'm not having any of those issues there have been issues with getting logged out after days/weeks for me and long posts for others very peculiar how some are affected and others aren't ??? Lew

x2 was fairly broken but workable Huh ??? X1 was horrible until the 4th update X2 was fine .... I would say X3 was the version that was broken due to the crazy library system which X4 fixed (for the most part) I think they all had major changes Lew
-
way too many major changes see the history thread ... the wireless brain interface comes in X7 Lew
-
Seriously ??? way too much to list here way too much to remember try this thread - check out the various "what's new" fiels https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/215-chief-architect-software-history/?hl=history Lew
