Importing 3D Models Into Home Design Suite 2014
lbuttery replied to Design74Care's topic in General Q & A
Hi: the Chieftalk forum is aimed at users of Chief Premier users of the HD products by CA will probably find the Hometalk forum more useful while the HD products are sub-sets of Chief Premier they are very limited in features and most advice given on Chieftalk may not apply to the HD versions Note: that HD PRO users may benefit from following the Chietalk forum You should re-post your query on the Hometalk forum and also contact CA's tech support as they can best assist with issues like yours Lew -
I have been using PDF995 since 2004 so I continue to use it especially since I use it for lots of tasks outside of Chief also Lew

Rendering Options In Home Designer Architect Vs Pro
lbuttery replied to TylerS's topic in Sales Related Questions
since I don't know what the competitors can do then ??? not sure why CA created this section of the forum it doesn't get used much you should probably contact CA's sales dept and ask them Lew -
be advised if you then subsequently change a dim, that edit will be erased So very nice of Chief to do that Lew
-
why does CA Merge/Generate/Finalize every floor 10 times? All I'm changing is the display color of a material definition. Robert: probably best to discuss with CA's tech support Lew

Jenny: not sure about Schedule versus ML I rarely use Schedules and have never used the ML (other than testing) while Chief is very capable for modeling and can create a decent ML if you work and understanding it and learn the "ways" I suspect you will discover that it is NOT 20/20 some chiefers have posted that they use both some start with 20/20 for selections and pricing - then model in chief some start with the chief model - then after client approval - use 20/20 for selection and pricing you should be getting replies from chiefers who have used both Chief and 20/20 and Schedules/ML with further tips/tricks NOTE: even CA states that the ML is only as accurate as the model so each workaround used in the model has an impact on the ML Lew

Chief Architect Crashes Often On My Mac Os
lbuttery replied to Kenneth_Miller's topic in General Q & A
Kenneth: X6 is the first version written for the Mac there are bound to be some issues there are Chiefers using Macs with X6 and I haven't seen too many of them complaining about daily crashes - or even frequent crashes your best bet is to continue working with CA's tech support if they can't help - I doubt if any of the users here can either Lew -
some Chiefers also use Accutrans for passing files from format to format there is a free version but the paid version is $20 - or use to be .... Lew

Rendering Options In Home Designer Architect Vs Pro

Tyler: it is what it is if it doesn't fit your needs then ??? Lew -
I started with Chief 9.5 and until about ver X4 SU made a great companion for Chief in creating symbols etc since X4 the need to go to SU then back to Chief has been reduced with the enhancements in Chief's capabilities many chiefers doing raytraces will export to SU first then after cleanup/enhancing send on the 3rd party raytracers bottom line SU can be part of your toolbox along with Chief Lew

do you mean PRO or Premier the HD products highest version is HR PRO Chief Premier has a lite and interiors and a full version of Premier all of the HD products are very limited in there rendering features compared to Premier none of the HD products can do raytracing there is a comparison chart on the HD website there is a comparison chart on the CA Premier website as Scott said download the trials and play around Lew -

Should I Make The Move To Chief From Vectorworks
lbuttery replied to gwheckendorn's topic in General Q & A
just curious - I don't do much cad work - so just an opinion If Chief has these "other" methods why not create an offset feature that works like it does in "other cad" ??? time after time - release after release there are posters asking for an offset feature why cause frustration and confusion ?? I just don't get it Lew -
so I would rather use print screen than reinstalling CA =) You should contact CA's tech support they might be able to debug issue or assist with re-install Lew
-
Len: thanks, I will use that from now on still wish CA would moderate the first posts of a user Lew
-
Ron: I'm not a subscriber so I guess I can't see it Lew
-
Ron: not finding the article ??? Lew
-
I open then close, just so it won't stay highlighted as "unread" CA needs to block all postings from new posters till they have been vetted by a moderator this forum has been getting blitzed by these spams and it is annoying Lew

Mick: yep, .STL it is my brain hurts - 3 hrs sleep today http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileformat/STP-Catia-file Lew
-
Mick: it is for printers which is probably why Chief doesn't have an import feature for it Lew
-
post some screen captures of how you are saving the file and the name used etc Lew
