  1. Mark: download the trial for X6 Premier and try them out Lew
  2. Tommy: I am reminded of John Milton's essay on the "Majority of One" you want what you want and just because others don't use or need should have no impact on what you want glad to hear CA agrees with you given that I like flexibility I would vote for both methods Lew
  3. Perry: yes, but only for libs that are already installed Lew
  4. Ron: it would also be nice when using MENU - LIBRARY - UPDATE CATALOG if Chief would give a selectable list of catalogs not downloaded so that we could pick and choose or even select "all" why CA insists on making it difficult to stay current with the libs I just can't understand they got it in their head that NO ONE would ever want all the catalogs and thus they make it difficult to do so Lew
  5. Tom: Chief Premier can create the plan for you to view/edit if the Chiefer sets the HD update flag HD PRO users can benefit from following the Chieftalk forum as well as the Hometalk forum Whether you can find someone to take your offer of $200 depends on what level of design you need Lew
  6. Ron: you can click on the "I" icon to get that info but it is a rayal PITA to do for a "zillion' libs I have asked and asked and asked that CA create a summary for quick review also, when I use that "info" icon I get script code showing that obscures the info' until I move the mouse and then usually I lose the info and have to do it again maybe some release CA will listen .... it would also be nice to have a batch download feature at least by category... Lew
  7. If I remember correctly the Mac version can import .SKP but only 32-bit files X6 Windows can import 64-bit and 32-bit check Chief's manual for further details Lew
  8. Limiting negative votes to one per day is an excellent way to control vendettas there was a user awhile back who carried out a vendetta and even tho he stopped posting he lurked waiting to pounce with a drive-by attack when challenged and proven wrong etc he would end with "have a nice day" someone like that would use their one negative vote as a vendetta on the other hand, one per day wouldn't be very useful if a user was constantly giving bad advice or there was more than one user that day needing a negative vote so bottom line - this system isn't going to be very useful or reliable and will only serve to annoy Lew
  9. Does the person being rated (either positively or negatively) see who is rating them? I doubt it if yes, then that would just lead to bad blood and a "pi$$ing" contest nothing good can come of this at all Lew
  10. six months prior to buying Chief 9.5 I read almost every thread to the beginning of the forum to help get oriented since then I have read almost every post in every thread there is a "lot of gold in them thar hills..." Lew
  11. Purple is a good color red can conflict with reference lines Lew
  12. Michael: if it doesn't work out consider attending Tommy Blair's Houston Group which is done via the internet https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/35-houston-user-group/ Lew
  13. You can vote any given post up or down 1 point based on its usefulness and thereby give that person a reputation point. well, I can see where this will be abused to no end tick someone off and they will vote negative on everything you post over the years I have seen "vendettas" and spats and .... good luck on this one working out Lew
  14. CA has made this way more confusing then it needs to be on some of the dbx's and dropdown's you see "room divider" or "invisible wall" on some you see both each and every place that allows selection should show both !!! Lew
  15. I prefer the hardware lock because I find the deactivate/activate dance to be rather tedious I don't have a network at home so I would have to get the laptop out of the bag find some desk space plug it in to the internet switch the license repack the laptop then do the whole thing over again when I get home it would be nice to have a meter on the laptop where I could load 8 hrs of time and then when it starts to get low I could buy more time Lew
  16. foundations and basement or main floor can exist on the same level some users keep them separate - some don't CA has always gone with the foundation and basement sharing floor0 Lew
  17. Nicinus: yep, the buyer has no obligation to inform a seller the price is too low I have a friend who buys pipe collections for resale - usually from widows he and his partner will offer more than the asking price to be fair as long as they can make 50% which is the standard most dealers expect to get I have seen the American Pickers show where they get much more than they expect and they will share the excess with the seller If I ever bought an item at a yard sale for $1 and sold it for thousands I would share with the seller - it's just the right thing to do but the gist of this thread is that a seller can change their mind at any point prior to accepting the money On Pawn Stars I saw a guy sell a one-of-a-kind guitar for $35,000 he had been asking $50,000 they shook hands, yet by the time they brought out the cash he reconsidered and decided not so sell its the buyers product until money changes hands Lew

  19. Randy: that's ok because I still disagree what if he made a typo and meant $1775 ??? Lew
  20. Deal is made when both parties say yes and "shake" until then .... watch Pawn Stars or American Pickers In real estate the deal is not done until the contract is signed verbal is not allowed Lew
  21. Mike: I think until a deal is made the offer can be changed no one would complain if was lowered .... Lew
  22. Thomas: you are selling X5 WAY too cheap take the cost of a new license subtract the cost to upgrade X5 to X6 then knock off another $500 to offer a "savings" Lew
  23. Randy: hmmm, I just go to TOOLS and select popup blocker as on never knew about the settings I have been using IE 9 and just switched to IE 10 Lew
  24. Randy: for IE it is either on or off Lew
