  1. In Firefox there is a setting to zoom text only under options. Uncheck it.
  2. If you go to your digital locker: https://accounts.chiefarchitect.com/digital-locker/ you will see your current version available for download. At the top of that screen is a check box "Show upgraded product keys". Checking that box will show download buttons for your older versions. This will allow you to download the installers for your older versions.
  3. If you are able to download the beta your SSA is updated through the planned release date. This means you won't be paying any extra for X12. If your SSA expires before the planned release date you won't be able to download the Beta until you renew your SSA.

  5. This is a browser setting. I personally find notifications annoying so I turn them off on most sites. Which browser are you using?

  7. We are aware that older versions that have been upgraded are no longer appearing due to a recent upgrade of the locker. You should still be able to activate and deactivate upgraded versions from within the program. We are investigating the issue. Please contact technical support if you have issues that cannot be resolved.
  8. You are right. We only see the online user link now. You can access the member list through search. That changed a while back due to some design changes by the software vendor.
  9. That's odd. I'm seeing them both as an admin and when logged in as a normal user. Try making your browser window wider.
  10. In old versions of Chief we stored binary printer information in the plan. When working on porting to the Mac I changed printing to store that information in a format that is much more stable and portable. If the plan was created in and printed from an older version of Chief it could still contain that data. We attempt to convert that data when printing an old plan but that data can cause problems if it does not correctly match installed printer drivers. Clear printer info was added many, many versions ago to remove that data specifically because we knew of some cases where bad data caused crashes. In plans created in newer versions of Chief that have had the clear printer info command executed you should not see crashes when printing like we did in older versions. If you do please report them to support along with a copy of the plan that fails.
  11. This is a browser specific setting. I think I understand why it happens but don't have a good solution other than turn browser notifications off. And yes, I would expect that Windows 7 with, the right browser, would handle notifications.
  12. If your browser is set to accept notifications for ChiefTalk it will periodically receive a .json file with notification data. In some cases if you get logged out due to inactivity or log out from a different browser window, the notifications don't work correctly. I suspect, but am not certain, that the message you see is related. I don't have any good fixes for this at the moment other than tell your browser to not accept notifications or to close ChiefTalk when you are not actively browsing. I would be interested to know which version of IE you are using. We currently do not recommend using IE since Microsoft has essentially deprecated it in favor of Edge. I'm not recommending Edge, I currently have a preference for Chrome but that changes from time to time.
  13. Based on my understanding of the potential threat, I would recommend getting the updates on your systems for the Meltdown and Spectre issues.   14. Yes, Please send in the plan. Every plan has some slight differences so this may be a regression we have not seen. If it worked in a previous version it should still work. If you can send in the X9 plan that worked that helps. We also understand it is time consuming to report bugs. We hope you can make the time to send the plan in and explain the problem.   16. Chief saves information in a variety of places. For a complete list of locations look at preferences. General>Folders will show all the locations data is stored. To find the location of the .ini files click the button under All Program Paths... and find the location of the Preferences Folder. (usually %appdata%\Roaming\Chief Architect Inc.) I would use care copying .ini files from one version to another or from one machine to another. It is possible to get in a bad state doing this. Deleting the .ini file should allow defaults to be restored but you can do this within Chief in the preference dialog so I would recommend going that route. It does make sense to backup the data.   17. I think you are asking the question on the wrong forum. This is most likely a terminal server configuration issue not a Chief issue. I assume you can log in on your terminal and everything works? Can other users login on your terminal and have it work? Can you log in on other users terminals and have it work? Can you browse to the path on each workstation as each user and see the file? Most likely you need to talk to a a terminal services expert on this issue. Terminal server essentially means you are working on a remote desktop which is very different from a mapped network drive. If I had to guess I would think it's a user permissions issue not a network path issue.
  18. Certification is a great goal as it helps you and others, who may wish to hire you, know you have attained a minimum level of proficiency in the software. My recommendation would be to take a look at our new tutorial guide which was recently released and provides a good start for learning the program.   19. The error about the video card in safe mode is normal. Safe mode runs in a base video mode which would likely trigger the error. I assume you checked the plant layer is on in the view? Also checked that textures are showing 3D > Camera View Options > Toggle Textures?
  20. When the computer shuts down as described it's usually overheating or an overload on the power supply. Systems are designed to shut off due to overheat or low voltage to protect the system components. I agree with the other advice here in that I would suspect overheat more than overload. However, a large power draw by the CPU might put a weak power supply over the edge.
  21. Drawing Sheet setup for the plan is set to 1/8in. = 2ft. Try 1/4 in = 1ft.

  23. The first part is from the responsive design which is intended to make it easier to navigate for small format devices like tablets and smartphones. The second is a JSON response for notifications which should pop messages when someone replies to a thread you are viewing. I've seen this happen myself, we think it might be due to getting logged out while you are inactive on a page or perhaps due to javascript being disabled. I have not tested the Vivaldi browser, it's not on our list of supported browsers since it does not have a large user base. We mostly test using Google Chrome, Firefox, IE, Edge, Safari, and occasionally Opera. Vivaldi usage ranks below about 10 other browsers we also don't test.
  24. In these cases the PNG file is transparent except for the black lines etc. and you are seeing the dark semi transparent background provided by the style sheet. Thanks for pointing out the problem.
  25. Tim, I would contact technical support on this problem. I'm not familiar with any problems in this area but if anyone knows the support department would be the first to hear about it. Anyone else having this problem?
