  1. Yes, it does unless you reference an actual post. That's by design so users default to the new forum. I can pretty much guarantee that won't be changed. Use Google to search thus: site:www.chieftalk.com dormers And you will get to the orignal CT forum
  2. I totally agree with the sentiment on change. The new software is a rewrite by the software vendor. We made a few minor changes to customize the forum, like the login, and the colors but left the basic design as presented so as not to throw out good stuff and limit our time investment. We have dozens of other projects we would rather be working on, this one had to be done by the end of the year since the old forum software is no longer getting security updates. Personally I would rather see a few users have some inconvenience and use software that is actively being developed with security fixes than keep an outdated software and discover the site hacked one morning. A few of the features of the old forum software do not exist in the new forum. Friends were not migrated, there is a new concept called followers. That's not my choice it comes with the new software. I don't know where your 4 posts got to, I suspect they were stolen but cannot prove it. If we catch the thief we will prosecute to the fullest extent that forum rules allow. I see you found the preview post button, thanks for that I did not know where it was. For now we will do minor tweaks where it make sense. Personally I really like the fact that I can read and navigate the forum on my smart phone. The new layout, while not perfect, solves a lot of issues related to small format devices and touch screens.
  3. Yes, I see: Joe Beat me to this. The arrows are there, they are the same color as the image. I'll put it on the list.
  4. Looks like you can drag the images around and place them where you want. Place some more text. Click on an uploaded image below. Then keep typing. I think this editor has a lot more features than the old one. We all need to get used to how it works.
  5. Attached images of Chrome on old CT at 1920x1080 and 1080x1900 for comparison.
  6. Lew, I haven't tracked down the scroll bar hiding and showing code yet, I can say that so far I have only seen it happen in IE. I can't reproduce in Firefox, Edge, or Chrome. I could see that as valuable on smaller screens.
  7. In what way does the homepage not fit? The site is a responsive design in which certain information is removed or moved as the screen width changes. It should be usable on any size screen. 16:9 etc. is a ratio and is not really a consideration in how the styles work. The width of the screen in pixels is what determines the responsive changes. Using a different zoom level will also allow you to see responsive changes. We may need to do continue to do more tweaking of the pages to get the desired layouts. I can't read minds or see your screen so please send us details and screen shots of the issues as you encounter them. Thanks,
  8. We use a third party software for the forums. Because of that we don't always get our choice of how features are implemented. I can pass that request on to them, perhaps in a future update that might get implemented.
  9. Lew, Attached image is what I see in Internet Explorer with the file menu and the shortcuts enabled across the top on the Old ChiefTalk forum. I'm trying to understand your concern on scrolling since it appears to me the old site has the same issue. (Did you have a zoom level set on the old site?) Many browsers support a per site zoom level. I suspect if you work with that you will find a zoom level to your liking. When you put your mouse over the scroll bars they will display I don't know how that affects scrolling since you would have to put your mouse back over them to scroll or use a scroll wheel on the mouse. I'm having a hard time understanding your frustration.
  10. Thanks for all the tests. I just Downloaded and uploaded your plan using edge. Schmucker_Mantel.plan
  11. Ok, I am aware of an issue we had brought up with the software company that created the forum software in regard to being logged in on two devices, two browsers, etc. causing session data to be overwritten. If you browse on one device or browser at a time you should be fine. You don't have to log out, just close the browser window that is open to the forum. It only affects you if you are logged in on both devices/browsers with the same account on the same forum. We think the upload issue might be related to a token refresh redirection that is fired off during the upload. There is a fix in the alpha testing process of the software vendor, which I have confirmed resolves the issue. I expect the fix will be available in the next two weeks. In the meantime you can avoid the issue by closing any browser windows you have open to ChiefTalk before opening it up on another computer, or different browser. It should not affect multiple tabs in the same browser.
  12. Make sure you don't have another browser open when attaching or composing messages. If that works I think I might know what is going on.
  13. I see. That should be corrected. I'll take a look - it's kind of a new feature we had not explored yet.
  14. Joe, I see the administrators as well, Brian probably changed it while I was looking. Can you confirm you can see these?
  15. We are looking into those issues.
  16. I checked the settings and they appear correct. Can you let us know what browser you are using? Thanks,
  17. Thanks Joe, I forgot to add those. Does it look right now?
  18. New thread indications were lost during migration. You will see this sort itself out shortly as people start posting. I'm trying your resolution and I can't identify the issue you are describing. I'm sure I'm missing something, can you describe the problem in more detail?
  19. The migration is finished. Please let us know what you think.
  20. I ran into a technical glitch in the migration which will delay the actual migration until 11:30 or 12 PST today.
  21. Due to a technical glitch we have postponed the migration until about 11:30 or 12 today. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  22. Greetings, The ChiefTalk migration will be commencing tomorrow, Tuesday 11/15/2016 at aproximately 10am PST. At that time the forum will be placed in an offline mode and you will not be able to post or read the forum during that time. I expect the migration to take no more than 1 hr. Thank you,
  23. An upgrade to the ChiefTalk software is in the works. We plan to roll the upgrade out early to mid next week. If you want to get an idea of what the changes will look like we have just rolled the changes out to our RoomTalk and HomeTalk sites: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ https://roomtalk.chiefarchitect.com/ The new software has a number of new features and enhancements and should work much better on mobile and small format screens. If you are active on HomeTalk or RoomTalk please let us know what you think about the changes. Migration of ChiefTalk will be a large undertaking which we hope to accomplish in less than one hour of downtime. Current practice migrations show a total migration time of about 2 hours but we have worked out a system whereby we can do part of the migration while the site is still online and only take it offline during the last part of the migration. We hope you find the new software functional and useful. We will make an announcement next week shortly before the migration but wanted to give you a chance to have a look at it by migrating the smaller forums first. Thank you,
  24. About a year ago the server on which the SSA content for X3 died. It was a very, very old server. We migrated the main core public libraries for X3 over to another system hosted in the cloud. SSA content requires a current SSA license to download so should not be accessible for download once it has lapsed. Already downloaded content still remains on your system and is still accessible even though SSA may have lapsed. We assumed that most users with active SSA using X3 would have upgraded by that time and made a decision to not migrate the SSA content for X3. Access to SSA content requires being logged in and SSA being active. To rebuild that old system in a way that meets our new internet standards would have required significant effort. Based on our server logs it was apparent that the content was being accessed rarely. The decision was made to no longer support that content. If you still have SSA and desired the content available to an X3 SSA user you would be able to upgrade to the current version of Chief and gain access to all that content and more by using the current version. We still support the core public libraries that were available for all X3 users with or without SSA. I hope this helps you understand the situation. If you still have questions feel free to contact our Support or Sales team.
  25. You probably have a corrupt user data folder. Find the X3 Data folder and rename it. If that works restore any missing data from the renamed folder one sub folder at at time. When it stops launching that folder is the culprit. Quite often in that version, as I recall, the toolbar folder would get corrupted due to system crashes or some other problem.
