  1. When you customize your toolbars click on the "Toolbar" option and you will see all your toolbars in a table with checkmarks to show you which views you want them to display in. It's completely customizable.
  2. 1) When someone answers your post correctly the person who created the thread can mark it as answered. This will help others who may have the same question. 2) Reputation. You may see in the user list a number next to some users. This is user reputation. When you see a post or content you like you can click the up arrow at the bottom of the item to increase reputation by a point. If you see things you don't like you can click the down arrow. Use this tool to encourage good content and discourage bad content. Users have limited numbers of points to award, 10 positive ponts per day and 1 negative point per day. Use them to help promote good posts. 3) Thread Rating. At the top of each thread you will see a 5 star rating. If you read a thread rate it. This will help others determine the good content from the not so good content. Using these tools will help make the board a better experience for all. Happy Posting!
  3. So we tracked down at least one cause of the mixed content. I was one of the offenders, I had a link in my signature to an external http:// site for an image in my signature. This is caused by inserting images using a URL in the post editor. Uploaded images do not cause this problem. Brian is looking for a configuration option to turn off the ability to add external images. You will still be able to upload them by attaching them to a post. If you don't allow mixed content you may see some missing images.
  4. Room Planner was started for the IPad, in part because IPad had the market share when we initiated the development. And in part because we wanted something in the MAC market. An Android version is under development. Windows users actually have the advantage in that many of the newest Windows Tablets can run Chief. Windows users can purchase touch screens to run Chief. I'm not aware of any full MAC OS systems that ship with touch screens. The Mac OS is kind of behind Windows on that score. We don't have any current development going toward a Windows version of Room Planner.
  5. Ron, What handle do you want?
  6. I think there is a way to do it with the Nvidia software as well.
  7. Awesome! I am glad to see you.
  8. Yep, Here's the plan. After this forum is up for a couple of weeks and we know that users are not having major issues signing up or seeing this forum we will lock posting on the other forum. Leaving posting open on the other forum was calculated to allow the other forum to support any signup issues on this forum and to allow threads to die out over there. At that time www.chieftalk.com will be redirected to this ip. The old forum will get a different url and we will update the link on this site to point at the old site. We also are working on updating the search engine on the main www.ChiefArchitect.com site to search this forum and old chieftalk.
  9. We have heard of users getting locked files in dropbox when they access them from two computers. In most cases you can copy the file to get it open. Dropbox is a synchronization service not a backu service so it's possible to loose data. I believe the pro version has a rollback feature that keeps older verisons of your files. I would not work directly in the dropbox folder. I think Bill's method is preferable.
  10. If I had to guess I would suspect video graphics. However, it could be something in a particular plan that's annoyingly slow. Anyone else seeing this?
  11. Here is a larger version of the image I got my picture from:
  12. If you have uploaded media you can use the 'My Media' tool to insert it into the standard editor as well.
  13. The issue is related to User Access Control (UAC) on Windows - An alternate solution to running as administrator is to install into a folder other than the standard program files directory. As Doug stated a fix, we hope will solve this, has been obtained and we are targeting it for the next update. For those that don't know, UAC is a security measure introduced by Microsoft for windows Vista which caused much angst when initially released. It prevents programs without administrative access from writing to a directory where programs are installed. The idea being that programs that are installed don't ever need to change unless you are reinstalling or upgrading. Data that needs to be changed is stored in a different location. In this instance the help program for X6 (assistant.exe) is opening the help database for read and write access. In reality it only needs read access. At any rate we have identified this as one problem for slow opening help files. Another problem is virus scanners. In some cases real time virus protection can cause slowness as well. The primary cause, we believe, is the bug.
  14. Can you post a plan file? I suspect there is a reason but without the plan it will be hard to diagnose.
  15. It might help to post a plan as well. You should be able to post plans as large as 10mb (more if you zip them)
  16. Hey! I have it on good authority that you get to be a 'member' at 10 posts. Clearly we need to have some other titles for those that get too many posts.
  17. Odd, Have you switched browsers lately?
  18. One year is our target date. If there are good reasons to extend that let's explore that at the end of this year. We also have to consider the long term viability of the Vbulletin software and consider the user data that is stored there. We have to be careful about hackers getting at that information. That means keeping that software updated as well as this forum.
  19. About 3 years ago we detailed a plan to allow users to log into all Chief Architect web resources using the same log in. Today we are rolling out the first site that uses our new OAuth system. This technology allows your digital locker log in to work on this site in a very secure manner. We will soon be adapting this authentication method for our Online Support Center and other Chief Architect Sites. What this means to you is that your user information is more secure than ever. We hope that the new forum and gallery meet with your approval. We will be tweaking the site over the next few weeks to make sure the software is running fast and efficiently. Additionally we will be implementing new backup systems to make sure posts are backed up and restored on a continuous basis. We are using new cloud technology on all our new sites. This means that should this site get slow we can resize it very quickly to accommodate increases in traffic. Over the years ChiefTalk has become a huge resource and help to our users. You will notice that this new site does not have any of the old posts. The last thing we want to do is take that away, but we wanted to make sure we only keep the best information from the old site. Many of the posts there are out of date or simply don't apply. With that in mind we will be planning to retire the old ChiefTalk site over the next year. As you start posting on this new site let's try to bring some of the best information from the old site and update it with your latest experiences. I will talk about that in some upcoming posts. I hope everyone has a great experience with the new site. It is new, like any new thing there may be some bumps. Let's work together to find the bumps and make the site something we can all use. Thanks to all those that have been involved in this project!
