  1. The 32 bit versions are still available. Please contact technical support for the correct link. We are attempting to understand all the reasons for needing a 32 bit version. Everyone should be using the 64 bit version if possible.
  2. Thanks for the feedback. I do believe we have found and fixed two issues that were responsible for some of the issues. I can't help but believe there may be more issues we don't know about on our end. The fact that others are not reporting issues makes the problem seem to be specific to the computer doing the browsing or the browser itself.
  3. The PM messages are private in the sense that only users who have access to them are able to view them. I am only looking at the access logs, filtered on your IP address, to see if I can spot what is happening. Unfortunately, the logs did not reveal anything I can use. If anyone else is experiencing posting issues please be sure to let us know.
  4. Ok, I'll take another look. Do you remember what thread you were looking at when it happened? Edit: I see you were in a PM. I'll take a look.
  5. Thanks, That at least let's me know it was not fixed with the change we made yesterday. I can't promise we can fix the issue as it seems likely the problem is with the browser. If you do experience the issue let us know what browser, OS, and what fixed the issue. If you can't post contact technical support.
  6. ]This may be a result of lost or bad session data. A good first step would be to log out then log back in. I'm aware of a few reports of this issue and clearing browser cookie data does seem to help. We made a change in how long session cookies last on the Forums server yesterday. If you see this problem again let us know. I don't know if there is anything we can do to resolve it because it might be related to specific browser settings, however, it would be interesting if the problem goes away due to the change we made. Thanks,
  7. We made a change to another setting that should help solve this problem. This is a different issue than the one we reproduced and modified last week on the authentication server. Please report back if you see any more problems. Thanks!
  8. 1) Which browser were you using? 2) Did you have to type in your username and password? 3) How long was your browser open?
  9. I hope silence on this subject is good news. If you have seen the post button not work in the last 24 hrs. Please let us know. Thanks.
  10. We did some more investigation today and fixed an issue where a security token was getting deleted prematurely. This created a situation where clicking the post button would not submit your post. The problem would occur about 1 hour after you log in, and each hour afterward. For those experiencing the problem where the post button does not work, please log out and then back in, and let us know what your experiences are.
  11. Mike, I tried your test on my previous post. When I attempted to attach the file it displayed a 302 error. I used the basic uploader and it appears to have worked. I didn't loose my post. I'll take a hard look at this later and see if I can reproduce the problem in a test environment.
  12. The reason for this is that when you search for results the page that is returned is set to not cache. If you search again you would get different results. IE and Edge browsers by Microsoft don't show the results when you go back to a page that was created as a result of a search. It's how the browsers are designed. Other browsers choose to display the results you had even though they are no longer valid and don't display the message that your results might be out of date. Either method could be considered correct depending on your point of view. This issue of the page being expired is not likely the cause for the lost posts, however, if you do click back from a post in most browsers you will loose your text. That's not the scenario I see being described. If it is the scenario then my advice is don't click back from a post and expect it to be there when you return.
  13. Sorry, When I said post I was referencing an HTTP POST vs GET method. The search dialog does an HTTP POST in a manner similar to what happens when you click the post button. The data is sent to the server and you are then redirected to a new page with the results. If you follow a link off that page to another page and cick back the page needs to be reloaded by resending the data. Posting is also done via javascript. The reply form uses javascript to post without refreshing the entire page. When you click the post button it will be disabled for subsequent clicks until you get a reply back from the server. Checking the system for malware might help. If a malicious javascript were running using up resources it might slow the system down or cause the background posting to fail. If auto save is also failing then javascript might be getting disabled. (I would expect to see some sort of error in that case.)
  14. IE shows that message if you post data to a web site, follow a link, then click the back button. Firefox and Chrome let you go back to the previous page without reloading. In discussing this with our internet team I think IE is technically correct in letting you know the posted request is out of date and needs to be refreshed, however, I think the Firefox and Chrome by presenting the data you receive on hitting the back button may be the better implementation. If you would like to test Firefox and Chrome and see if you get better results that would let us know more about the problem.
  15. The only thing I know of that happens on a 60 second interval is a backend check to verify you are still logged in. If you are no longer logged in the posts would fail in the manner described. I'll take another look at the code with an eye to what happens during bad internet connectivity. In composing this message I took well over 60 seconds.
  16. Over the years Chief has employed several experienced builders. Some have moved on, retired, or gone back into construction. Some are still with us. We have mechanical engineers, software engineers and internet application engineers. We have designers and and certified NKBA members. While we don't have any architects on staff. We have, over the years, reached out to many of our users who are architects to get feedback. We will continue to solicit input from our entire user base including architects to determine the best strategies to improve the application.
  17. The network is accessed at boot time to determine if an online version of the startup options dialog is available, check for updates, and to update the security. Updating security also occurs occasionally while using the software. Normally this should return fast so as to not interfere with your use of the application. By disconnecting the network the application sees there is no network and moves on. However, if a network connection is available it will try, if nothing is getting back the network will wait until a timeout is reached before moving on. Suspicions players here would be a router that filters based on application and or user agent. We have had some large institutions in the past that filtered internet access based on user agent string, which as I understand, most likely changed from X7 to x8. It's also possible a firewall software is doing something strange, or a network device is causing an issue. However, knowing that unplugging from the internet helped is a clue. If you contact support again let them know what you discovered. That might get some ideas going on what we can do to diagnose the problem.
  18. This is off in left field but what happens if you disconnect the computer from the network?
  19. Also, let us know what version of the software you are using.
  20. We have been analyzing the issue this morning. It appears we had a fault that cause a reboot in the 3dlibrary server around 9:20 pm PST Saturday (5:20 UTC Sunday) and the system had errors until around 3:35 PM PST on Sunday when one of our staff noticed the problem and we fixed the issue. We have setup a better monitoring system today that should give us earlier warnings on this type of problem in the future. As far as we know, no other systems were affected by this outage.
  21. If you have them already you don't need to pay. These are specialized symbols that fit niche markets.
  22. I just pushed a change that should make it more clear what is available for SSA.
  23. Also a handy getting started page exists here: http://www.chiefarchitect.com/getting-started/ Choose your version in the drop down at the top right. The pdf files for the User's Guide and Reference Manual are available for several versions.
  24. Fyi: Here is a link to the current lumber size rules for the WCLIB which was the certification authority I used when I was certified to grade lumber back in the late 80's and 90's http://www.wclib.org/r17-pdf-online/wclib/pdfs/l_WCLIB_2004_RulesBook_9.pdf Note the green vs. dry surface sizes as well as the Standard Sawn (Rough Green) sizes.
