Perry, would you mind posting a small plan with the grass and bump map you are using? Thanks
-
That is the reason. If you do not like that, disconnect the railing at the perimeter, do the shift-a, and then reconnect.

Bay Window floor not filling in all the way

for some reason, I do not have permission to view attachment. Anybody else having this issue? -
Hey Diane, thanks for that tidbit.

Thinking about this some more, I am not sure if either situation is behaving as I would expect..... DJP might have a point when I think he suggested dropping the roof plane down...... I am not sure..... I have not tested this enough...... but a good question......
-
Such an interesting question. If I had to guess, you built your roof planes with TRUSSES checked. IOW, you built a truss roof system and not conventional roof system. See my pic, the roof on the left is a TRUSS ROOF SYSTEM and the one on the right is CONVENTIONAL FRAME ROOF. If you look at my ROOF STRUCTURE DETAILS DBX you will understand what the structure is for both roofs. If you post your plan, I would be interested in finding out how you defined your roof structure.

Oops, I guess it is not okay to post crappy renderings here. No problem Jintu.

I completely agree with you. I do not have the time nor do my clients want to pay extra money for "perfect" renderings. In the past I would spend a lot of time creating the "perfect" ray trace renderings..... lots of time and lots of money. I now provide "crappy" renderings for my clients and they love them. I spend 4 seconds per rendering, I prepare as many as 25 renderings for my clients and they love them. I appreciate any tips on how to accomplish this. So please, post your "crappy" renderings on this site..... but only if it is okay with Jintu.
-
I think some of us describe renderings as "crappy" if the rendering was rendered entirely within CA and if they took less than 3 minutes to create. I think it is valuable to be able to compare different renderings so we can compare if it is worth the time to create a "perfect" rendering. Jintu, is it okay if we post "crappy" renderings on this site or should we post them elsewhere?

Typical good stuff from JPC, however, I take away a few points because you did not do it all in CA. If it is not done completely in CA your final score will reflect a few penalty points.

So true, is CA aware of this weakness in the program? I have learned to live with it as Joey has. However I do hope that CA will address this issue.

Don't try to send layout, only send the plan file in dxf, everybody will be much happier.
-
nuts, your choice but you asked...... keep everything in one file, learn to use ref sets and understand that you may want the final output to be a bit different but sometimes CA does not cooperate..... get over it....... keep as much as possible auto, this will reduce the number of errors in the plans.

This is not true. See pic, both of those stairwells are on level 1. Note you can define the top and bottom of each staircase via DBX. Now, there is a limitation. In my case I would of created a LANDING for the top landing of the bottom set of stairs. Ray, I think it would be more accurate to say you cannot have two stacked floors on the same level . I know, getting a bit anal....... but something that should be understood.

This sounds like a bug. Did anybody report this?

Several reasons: 1. I learn a lot from other people's questions. 2. The less time we waste of CA's time, the more money they will have to improve the program 3. Many times I think the users either know or are willing to share their knowledge more that CA..... It seems as if CA does not always have the time to answer all of our questions....... but I agree, if the knuckleheads on this site can not help an OP, by all means dial up support. -
That is what I was thinking.

The problem with the hotkey is you might have to hit a minimum of 1 button and as many as 4 buttons......... maybe 0.00039 seconds........ I am talking to Brian about speeding this up.

California's New Law, SB1069, and ADUs
dshall replied to JJohnson's topic in Building Codes and Compliance
I am wondering the same thing. I am doing a project for a client now, and prior to this SB being approved, they said it was going to cost them 40K in fees to do the "Granny Flat/Acc. Unit"... if they could find the extra parking space. The extra parking space was their limiting factor (to get a RANGE in the unit). So if they can now build without the extra parking space, is it still going to cost 40k in fees just to build it? They are working with a 150k budget for a relatively easy build (650 sf). That 40k is 25% of their budget. I think there is somebody who is running for a public office who is talking about limiting governmental regulations...... I forgot his name...... -
If you are not on a MAC, I think you can hold down the CONTROL or COMMAND key while opening another instance of CA. It has been discussed before.
