  1. nuts, your choice but you asked...... keep everything in one file, learn to use ref sets and understand that you may want the final output to be a bit different but sometimes CA does not cooperate..... get over it....... keep as much as possible auto, this will reduce the number of errors in the plans.
  2. This is not true. See pic, both of those stairwells are on level 1. Note you can define the top and bottom of each staircase via DBX. Now, there is a limitation. In my case I would of created a LANDING for the top landing of the bottom set of stairs. Ray, I think it would be more accurate to say you cannot have two stacked floors on the same level . I know, getting a bit anal....... but something that should be understood.
  3. This sounds like a bug. Did anybody report this?
  4. Several reasons: 1. I learn a lot from other people's questions. 2. The less time we waste of CA's time, the more money they will have to improve the program 3. Many times I think the users either know or are willing to share their knowledge more that CA..... It seems as if CA does not always have the time to answer all of our questions....... but I agree, if the knuckleheads on this site can not help an OP, by all means dial up support.
  5. The problem with the hotkey is you might have to hit a minimum of 1 button and as many as 4 buttons......... maybe 0.00039 seconds........ I am talking to Brian about speeding this up.
  6. I am wondering the same thing. I am doing a project for a client now, and prior to this SB being approved, they said it was going to cost them 40K in fees to do the "Granny Flat/Acc. Unit"... if they could find the extra parking space. The extra parking space was their limiting factor (to get a RANGE in the unit). So if they can now build without the extra parking space, is it still going to cost 40k in fees just to build it? They are working with a 150k budget for a relatively easy build (650 sf). That 40k is 25% of their budget. I think there is somebody who is running for a public office who is talking about limiting governmental regulations...... I forgot his name......
  7. If you are not on a MAC, I think you can hold down the CONTROL or COMMAND key while opening another instance of CA. It has been discussed before.
  8. I suggest you go to the HOME DESIGNER PRO talk site...... the Knuckleheads over here probably cannot help you as well as those guys can....... I think you are a bit more limited than we are........ we would probably suggest doing things you cannot do since you have a limited version of the program.
  9. Thanks Jon and Mark...... you used the millwork above and below casing....... I did not realize that option was there...... thanks so much!
  10. Thanks Perry, but you did not include the casing. Note light brown "casing/stucco" between the window and the shutter.
  11. Does anybody know how to model this lintel and sill when I have a casing as shown. Is the sill and lintel auto or do I need to add psolids. If I need to add psolids, it would be super if we has some control over the offset of the lintel and sill from casing.
  12. Yes per wall but not per view. IOW, he wants lower wall to show in some views and upper wall in other views. Not possible. It should be possible, in fact I think we should be able to see upper and lower wall at the same time.
  13. What choo talk'n 'bout brotha`? You mean EL CAPITAN is already outdated? Nuts, I just installed it.
  14. Yes...... and...... " I am always wrong", and "yes Babe, no problem, I will do that right now for you, is there anything else you need?".
  15. You are correct, just about anything is build able.
  16. I think it is the yellow roof and the light blue that is not working... but if works for you..... try eliminating the fireplace chimney and see what you get when you auto frame the roof
  17. It would be interesting to see a 3d view of your roof.
  18. I think the roof is correct based on the pitch you are doing and the location of roof bases lines..... with the exception of the area shown in attached pic.
  19. What I do not understand is why every house does not come with an owner's manual which would include a floor plan. I get an owner's manual with my $8.00 package of Triple AAA Batteries, I get an owner's manual with my $80.00 Stanley Fat Max Tape, I get an owner's manual with my $8,000.00 Vit-a-mix, why doesn't my $80,000.00 house come with an owner's manual?
  20. Great comment, there was a thread not too long ago that was requesting that if we changed the layer visibly for what ever reason, it would not save the changes therefore not effecting what is in LAYOUT. Great question, another example of why we need the option to leave the layer sets as is while we are futzing with things.
  21. Hence the need for a PLOT PLAN LAYER SET "WORK SET", turn off layers will nilly in the "WORK SET" and it will not effect the PLOT PLAN LAYER SET which is the set the layout is using.
